Entrepreneur Success Stories With Join Up Dots - Confidence, Motivation & Entertainment To Kick Start Your Online Career (entrepreneurs)

Lies, Lies, Lies everywhere. That is how it seems sometimes in life. My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a man who connected with the show by email, asking to appear. And believe me, we get so many of them nowadays that sometimes you don't give them quite the focus that perhaps you should. This wasn't the case with today's guest who hit us with "I've lived in the South Pole for 13 months! My life is an ongoing adventure with worldly experiences including (but not limited to) having spent 22 months UNDERWATER on nuclear submarines, 13 months at the geographic South Pole conducting atmospheric research, 3 years shipboard in the arctic, and 1 year shipboard on the equator conducting ocean floor studies! I have written extensively on terrorism and related subjects, and authored the bestselling current events book, "The Chicken Little Agenda – Debunking Experts’ Lies," wherein I assure your listening audience that the sky is not falling!" He is an established author, who in his own words has "spent nearly my entire life off the beaten path. " So with a history like that where do we start first? And what does he tell people he is...author, adventurer, or someone simply living a life on his own terms? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Dr Robert Williscroft Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Dr Robert Williscroft such as: Why his life was so structured for so many years in the US Navy, which has led to his delight in the creative decision making of his later life. We discuss the issue that educated people can sometimes find themselves in, whereby the greater the knowledge they possess the more unsure they can become. and lastly…. How Donald Trump has created the "Fake News" movement and how it's genius lies with the ability to merge so much information into one collective. With so many angles being show, who knows what is the right one?

Life Coach is a word that you see everywhere today. But are you born a life coach or do you need to live a life of ups and downs? Well today’s guest joining on the Join Up Dots show is a lady who I first connected with several years ago, but never got a chance to properly say hello to. Which is a bit of a regret, as not only is she a truly lovely individual but is also based in this little island of ours: Yep, she is based in rainy Manchester in the United Kingdom and since working for British Telecom as a Call Centre Trainer has been on a mission. A mission to develop employees everywhere to become the best that they can be, and find happiness whilst they are doing it. And she certainly seems to now have found her thing, after as much struggle as everyone else As she says “I’d love to be able to say I’m one of those people who is so super clever, I built a successful coaching business easily. But that would be a big. Fat. Lie. I spent my first year as a coach taking every course I could get my hands on, which led to massive overwhelm. It became a patchwork quilt of information: a course on blogging, another for WordPress, another on podcasting, then copywriting. But it wasn’t cohesive. I wanted courses to help me go step-by-step so I could focus on what I loved, coaching.” And so how has she done it? How has she managed to blend her years of being an employee into someone who is crushing it, but also being totally themselves…being happy in the process? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, with the lovely Northern lass herself Jo Casey. Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty Subjects with Jo Casey such as: Why she is so aware of the power that comes with being different to everyone else, and by embracing that fact you will find your customers so much quicker. How looking back on the first year of her making mistake is now fine as she can see that nobody was really listening or watching what she was doing anyway. Why she is so aware that she has the opportunity to become the best boss to herself that she has ever had, and doesn’t take that fact lightly. And Lastly…….. Why it is so important to understand in life what you truly are: Artist and Entrepreneur especially when you first start building your dream business.

In todays episode of Join Up Dots we look at Motivation and how to keep it, after a recent listener asked "David how do you keep motivated? I have many business failures which i started and then stopped. I just lose the motivation to keep going. Do you have any tips. Well here is what we consider are the best ways to keep yourself motivated, when the motivation is starting to depart. 1: Remind yourself of your goals. Usually before devoting time to any specific endeavor, we tend to make short- and long-term goals. Remember to keep your goals realistic, that way you wont be disheartened if you don't reach them. That doesn't mean you can't push and challenge yourself though, if you don't challenge yourself, then it's not really a goal. If you start to lose sight of your goals, then you may be less motivated than if you were always checking to see how much closer you are getting throughout the whole process. Keeping track of your goals and checking your progress can help keep you motivated day in and day out. 2: Make weekly checkpoints to track your progress. Everyone needs to see how they are keeping up with their goals if they want to stay motivated. If you see that you are on track or even excelling every time you check your progress, you will be motivated and happy that you are getting there. If you see that you are lagging on your goals, it may be the kick start you need to help get you back on track. 3: Make sure to reward yourself every time you achieve your weekly goals. This could be as simple as a bowl of ice cream after a long, hard week of working out or as rewarding as a trip to the spa for all your hard work. Whatever rewards will keep you going are the ones you should be giving yourself. 4: Give yourself breaks. Sometimes even the most determined people get overwhelmed. You may be burning yourself out, and a much-needed break might be just what you need. If it is a fitness goal, maybe take a three- or four-day rest instead of your normal one- or two-day rest. If it is at school, don't try to do all your work in one sitting, but stretch it out over the course of the day or week, if possible. 5: Don't be too hard on yourself. Everyone falls short sometimes. If you fail to meet your goals for the week, take it as a lesson. Try to complete your next target before time, so that you can use the saved time to complete the pending work. This way you stay right on schedule even if you have taken a hit. It's not always about how hard you hit, but how well you can take a hard hit and keep moving on. Don't dwell on failure; just accept it as a human occurrence, and continue working towards your goals. 6:Watch and read motivational stories or speeches. Everyone deserves a great pep talk every once in a while. Stay elevated by watching YouTube videos of inspirational moments so you can suddenly feel a new sense of motivation to keep striving. Here are just a few example of easily-found inspirational media: Mary Schmich's famous "Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)" speech. Almost any Hollywood sports movie. Much rap music - "rags to riches" is a common lyrical theme. Historical stories of bravery or courage (see: Jack Churchill, Audie Murphy, etc.)

Media and getting noticed in the media is a hard game to crack. However my guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a lady who spent over a decade working in an environment that ultimately left her looking for a new future (although with the media skills to make that future happen) Starting her career at News 12 The Bronx after leaving Ohio University with a BA in Public Affairs and Journalism she worked her way up through the ranks in television. She performed the roles of Reporter, Producer, Host, Web Editor, Fill-In Anchor, Media Relations Specialist for ABC News, CBS News, NBC News the list goes on and on. All the time her confidence was soaring, her experience was becoming broader and broader and her future was waiting. As she says "I worked as a TV reporter for a decade who was pitched numerous times a day by publicists. Most of the time, I didn’t read more than two sentences of what the “PR person” sent. What they sent was too long, didn’t have anything to do with what I covered, wasn’t newsworthy, didn’t relate to the geographical area I covered, and the list goes on. They all wanted a free commercial for their client. Because of this, I decided to leave the news business and do that job - but better. And she has certainly done that, becoming the owner of Media Maven, a full service public relations firm providing services in: Media Relations, Media Training, Still Photography, Video Production, Social Media, Writing, Blogging, Event & On-Air Hosting, Branding, Website Design, Graphic Design, and Search Engine Optimization. If you want to grow your personal brand in the right way, then this is the place you come. So did she need every bit of her ten years experience to get to where she is today, or could she have cut corners here and there? And what is the scariest bit of becoming a business owner, the doing, or in fact the thinking of everything that you need to do? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Christina Nicholson Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Christina Nicholson such as: How she managed to hold back from kissing David Beckham, and why she feels that all British David's are super hot!! Why it is so important to be as specific with your conversations with your customers as you could possibly be...the more niche the rich you will get. Why it is so important to understand the nuts and bolts of everything you do in your life, before delegating that part of the business to someone else. and lastly…. Christina recalls the moment that changed her life and that was the moment when she decided to stop caring what people thought about her. Total game changer

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a lady who has been a entrepreneur since 1982, and is an expert in online development and helping companies develop the people side of their business. She is co-founder and President of Performance Support Systems, a global software company based in Virginia, where their products are used by leadership coaches and consultants as well as internal learning and development professionals to help managers become more effective leaders. There is one truth in my mind, that someone who develops all the leadership skills whilst climbing up the ladder quite often finds those skills very difficult to maintain. Is it the isolation that causes the issues, or perhaps the climb that wears them out? Well whatever it is our guest will have the answer I'm sure. She and her business partners have worked together for 25 years, and many of their clients and resellers have done business with them for 20 years. She understands what’s required to build the loyalty and commitment that lead to repeat business and referrals. She takes pride in getting feedback like this, which is from a reseller who’s worked with her company since 1994: “Performance Support Systems is the epitome of the client-centered, high-integrity, high-support company with world class products. You could look for a lifetime and not find its equal.” So strong relationship building, high level customer service and a commitment to build the people and not just the business is the ideal way to operate.....or is it? Does she look back at her career and think "Wow, home run every single time"? Or, instead has it been a gradual climb, or struggles, mistakes, huge failures and everything else that entrepreneurs have to overcome? Well let's find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Meredith Bell. Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Meredith Bell such as: Why she remembers being a serious child and how she taken steps to bring a lightness into her life and work that wasn't always there. Why we have to be aware of the ego in our business that can often take of us from the track that is right for us. Why Meredith loves passionately talking with clients, as much to find out about their own business as her own. Value always comes first however. and lastly…. Why a binge watch on Netflix is something that could be a good thing for so many members of the entrepreneur club, if we only allow ourselves the chance.

Yoga is great for the core strength of a body. Yoga is also great for the mindset of a person. So lets find out how yoga can be made into a thriving business. My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a lady who deserves to be on this show, as she is one big collection of dots. And the kind of dots, that although difficult to deal with at the time turn out to be the true gifts in ones life. As she says “Sometimes life lessons are right in your face waiting to happen to you if you just surrender to the call. But it took me a long time to get into the position where, my passion had finally fallen out of the sky and smacked me in the face hard!” And this she found in the form of Yoga, and she then created her dream business that is going from strength to strength. Providing what her clients want, her family want and of course what she wants too. As she says “I have been a entrepreneur for 20 years I know what it feels like having to create your wealth! But I also knew that your health & inner strength matter more in this adventure of self mastery! Being a entrepreneur is all about Self: Mastery, Discipline, Awareness, Confidence, And Worth etc. You have to believe then apply the gift to create the Magic! In between the “Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda”, I became a Yoga Instructor, Holistic Health Coach, owned a MMA Promotion Business in Atlantic City with my husband (the last one was the stress factor). “ Which lead to her being the Founder of Down Dog Wellness, as she craved a way to create a bridge between work stress and life, enlightening awareness daily. So did she always have the desire to create such a business, or was it in direct result of her four years working at New Breed Fighters, dealing with cage fighters and the entertainment industry. And is the right business a pleasant experience, or does it still have days when you want to stay in your bed and let someone else deal with everything? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Kerry Morgan

SEO

SEO is on the table today. And how to make SEO front and centre of every business. My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a man who seems to me has found his thing in life. The thing that makes him bounce out of bed with excitement and enthusiasm. He is the CEO of Kansas City Website Design, who work with clients across the world building websites that not only look great, but also operate brilliantly too. Alongside his team, they work hard to make sure that the SEO element which is so important to gain Google rankings is built into the design to ensure visibility. As he says “Internet marketing is a lot like NASCAR racing. You need a fast car and a talented driver to compete and win – you can’t have one without the other. I build high performance websites and drive them to the top of the major search engines for my clients with organic search engine optimization and pay per click advertising management services. My approach to web development is laser focused on return on investment. I have a Contrarian view of website design which many of our competitors find distasteful, perhaps even blasphemous: Great web design is a commodity.” As is his passion for the task. And that is one side of what makes this guy perfect for Join Up Dots, as although he is now performing in a way that looks like it was a master plan right from the beginning, im sure we will find that just wasn’t the case. As his journey has taken him all over the world, He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and has lived and travelled extensively in Asia for over ten years, based in Taipei, Taiwan, with stints in Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong and now lives in Overland Park, Kansas with his wife Vivian and twin sons, Ely and Ostyn. And my favourite fact that in a way shows so much about how the guy operates, but he may be the world’s most successful SEO Internet marketer that has never had an active Facebook account. Love that fact, as it proves that there are many different ways to go about building success, and more often than not the best way is to simply do your own thing and create your own path. So what is about the online world that makes him scream out “No No No, that is never going to work…come and speak to me!” And what is it about web design that excites him the most, the creative element or the behind the scenes mechanics of it all? Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Phil Singleton Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Phil Singleton such as: Phil shares his story how it took a real miserable job for him to truly assess what he wanted to do in life. But now he considers it a true blessing to have that experience. Why the ability to control your own life and hours is so vitally important to Phil, and why he could never go back to working for someone else. Why so many people create scatter gun approach to SEO and marketing. However everything you do must find it’s way back to the central hub otherwise it dies for ever. and lastly…. Why Phil has to spend a lot of time focusing his clients time-frames and expectations re SEO. It’s not a quick fix, takes time to come to fruition, and takes money to achieve.

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a a guy who it seems is a born entrepreneur with a fascinating story to boot. Which makes him a perfect guest for a show like Join Up Dots. Growing up on the Shetland Islands – the most northerly tip of the UK, his first taste of entrepreneurship was running a small Dropshipping business whilst still at school. At 14, he used to buy electronics from China and sold them on eBay whilst building his first ever website at 14 years old, which still gets sales to this day! Leaving the islands at aged 18, he knew University wasn’t for him and lucky enough to be accepted into the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy in Manchester. As he says “The academy was an incredible experience – one in which I was pushed out my comfort zone on a daily basis, whether that was pitching, networking or just having to work incredibly hard. Things that are now a normal every day thing for me now – but certainly weren’t back then! It was in Manchester I launched a corporate well-being company called Alba Fitness, where he used to place personal trainers into corporate environments (such as call centres) to run corporate fitness programmes. However it really started to come together for him, when he realised that the trainers were generally terrible at marketing themselves. Secondly, he was reading a book called the 7 Day Startup – a book all about (you guessed it) launching a business in 7 days. On June 21st 2015, he finished the book. On June 29th 2015, Blue Cliff Media was born. He offered social media and community management services at the beginning but eventually carved ourselves a nice wee niche in Facebook advertising. The business continues to grow and have some amazing clients all over the world. So looking back on his life on the Shetland Islands, was it a blessing or a hindrance to his entrepreneurial venture? And is he where he wants to be in his life or simply on the first rung of what he can now see is possible for him? Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Gavin Bell Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Gavin Bell such as: How Gavin managed to get his business up and running as a small school boy even buying and selling belts on vacation Why networking and pitching his business is such a huge part of his business strategy. You have to get out from behind your pc! Gavin recalls the moment when he decided to pivot from his business Alba Fitness, and learn from what it had given him (or more often that not didn’t give him) Why FB ads are an amazing way to grow your business, but you have to let then run before seeing the results. Its all about data after all. and lastly…. Why it is so powerful to show your successes and failures to the world. Reality is today’s marketing strategy that works.

Digital Agencies have become big business for my guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a man with an amazingly unusual road to where he is today as a digital agency expert. Not least, as I discovered that his first job was a gravedigger at a Pet Cemetery, digging graves for Fido and Felix, and many other beloved pets who had used up their extended lifelines. But certainly his career might have seen dead and buried, but in fact it was just one of the big dots that has lead him to where he is today. Digging around the internet, spying on the competition and bringing the five steps of lead generation to life for his clients As the founder of Digital Agency School and the CEO of the marketing agency GoBeyond SEO, he believes that there are five stages that all businesses need if they want to floruish in their markets 1. Identify your ideal client 2. Research what works in your market (i.e. “spy” on your competition) 3. Craft a converting message and foot in the door offer 4. Build a funnel you can leverage 5. Analyze the data and optimize And this systems appears to be working wonders, as even though he started his agency with no experience, no marketing education or any connections in the industry he is certainly rocking and rolling. Now he wants to help other marketers launch their own agencies so they can build their ideal career & lifestyle and I suppose legacy. And isn't that what life is all about, helping as many people as you can to get their dream, and in the process getting your own one as a result. So how did he start Digital Agencies if he had no experience in it, and still make it a success? And does he look back at the time when he used to read the newspaper over the radio to blind people as useful in anyway to where he is now? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Brian Saemann Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Brian Saemann such as: Why the skill of anti-selling is such a powerful concept in business...and what is that? Quite simply the more that we tell someone that they can't have it the more they will want it. Brian tells how he had to work two jobs for a year and a half until he had the money and structure to start his new business (even after being pushed by his wife) Why Brian feels that all businesses, especially in the beginning should thrive on old school marketing techniques as these are so much easier to understand and will make money quicker. and lastly…. Brian shares the mistakes he has made both financially and timewise, which although disappointing, have led him to where he is today.

Money, money, money as Abba sung can be amazing. But what happens when it controls you instead? Today’s guest joining us on the Join Up Dots free podcast is a man who calls himself a rockstar, and with very good reason too. No he doesn’t strut around doing the Jon BonJovi return,or perhaps he does. Instead is he is a rockstar in regards to his methods for money management, and can help us all get out of debt, save money and therefore retire at a young age. As he says “I grew up in small town America and now live in the big city of Dallas, Texas. I’m an early retiree who gets to work because I want to, not because I have to. If one of your goals is to do the same, I’m here to help. My mission is to educate, empower, and entertain people from all walks of life by helping them experience real breakthroughs in their lives through hope and financial freedom. My goal is to create insightful, relevant content that you can put to work simply and immediately in your personal life. ” Now that all sounds amazing doesn’t it. And what makes it even more amazing is this guy wasn’t born with an inherent skill to make money, keep money and grow his stash of cash This guy was someone who as he says “I went from a money moron at age 22 to self-made millionaire 13 years later” He has made huge mistakes in his past, but has learnt from them. He has worked at filling in the gaps in his education to become a master of those mistakes. And now with his platform, and newly released Podcast “Financial Rockstar” he is rocking and rolling and loving life. So what was the moment when he realised that things couldn’t keep travelling on a one way journey to broke-ville? And is this something that can be done easily, or is it a case of sacrificing every bit of comfort and niceties in your life? Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Scott Alan Turner Show Highlights During the show we discussed such indepth subjects with Scott Alan Turner such as: How Scott believes he could not have got to this point of success without the stumbles and falls he made financially as a young man. Why it is so important to work out where your money is going, so you can start to grow the areas where you have the greatest monthly shortfall. Why it is so important to work two jobs whilst you build at last six months of savings to ease into the world of entrepreneurial adventures. And lastly……… Why he sold his business for a handsome profit and knew within two days that it was time to get going again. A life sitting on a beach, sipping cocktails was not for him.
