You need the crap to really heighten your focus on the gold. Why you should never do things in your life that mean you are losing money. Delegate as much as you can, so you can earn the big stuff. and lastly…. Why its a great idea to get drunk in a pub, with a recorder and ask the big questions in life. Career advice is everywhere. But never will you find better than from todays career expert Rikki Hansen.

She is an expert in helping people from across the globe transition in their careers and find work that is amazing everyday.

Todays guest is a lady who can call herself a true lady of the globe. Coming originally from Denmark, she grew up in the Scandinavian countryside clambering around the hills and fjords happily, until moving to Paris for three years to live in the capital of romance and culture. But now she calls the UK home and has been living in London since 1996. Yep, we have adopted her as one our own. And she has appeared to flourish whilst living in London, as her career went from strength to strength, as she worked hard on a career in Human Resources for companies such as Morgan Stanley, Citigroup and Shell. But it is ok to have a career that is on the ascendency , well actually it’s a great thing, but when you have a career that is going well, but you want to do your own thing, then it can feel quite differently. And our guest knew that her path was going to change She had always wanted to start her own career change consultancy, so in 2005 did just that, and quit her well paid job to go it alone. She walked away from the consistent monthly salary, and started flexing her hustle muscle on a daily basis. And now as she says on her business site “I have a knack for quickly connecting with people and drawing them out thereby helping them understand how they can translate their unique personality, skills and interests into a career or business on their terms. Combining my experience of career coaching over 500 clients, 8 years+ of owning my own business and a background in HR, I can offer you the practical know-how, motivation and confidence to actually make your career change or business idea happen!” So lets find out how this Scandinavian lady came to leave the glorious Danish countryside, to live in the English Capital? And does she see a need for more and more assistance to be offered to wannabe entrepreneurs nowadays, than compared to when she started back in 2005? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, with the one and only Rikke Hansen. Show Highlights During the episode we discussed such weighty topics such as: Why she believes that so many people spend more time looking around them for answers than within themselves. How she feels that she isn’t different, nut more aware of who she should be….and that is a game changer. How you need to create a crack in your life to allow the passion in. Otherwise it wont stand a chance of finding you. Why Steve Jobs words are so true, and the world has become even more ziggy-zaggy than ever before. And lastly….. “Live your life like everything around you is rigged” is a great way to achieve what you want in life.

The 5 Stages of Happiness “One has to spend so many years in learning how to be happy.” – George Eliot Happiness is very intriguing, the reason why many philosophers who have gone before us have endeavored to explain it. Or why researchers like Jennifer Aaker has studied how we can calibrate what we think make us happy in five life- stages. Discovery during childhood and adolescence, pursuit in our mid-twenties, balance in our late twenties and early thirties, meaning in our late thirties and forties, and savoring from our fifties on. They say that our sense of happiness dynamically changes throughout life and to ever think at any stage that our progress is finished is a folly. Happiness is never static. Our contentment tells us how happy we are. And with changing wants and needs and varying levels of mental maturity, our happiness lies absolutely on us. Happiness is subjective. What made you happy before does not guarantee your happiness in the future. One must adapt and learn. And so in todays episode of Join Up Dots we talk about the five stages of happiness and how no matter what we think....happiness is a choice we make and it starts within in. So here are the five stages that we have gone through when we are at our happiest. 1: Try to remove all comparison from your life It is a killer in our search for happiness, that we spend so much time looking at what other people are doing on social media. And more often than not it's not true and they are only showing us the good stuff that they want us to to see. So don't worry about what other people are doing in their lives and just focus on your own stuff and believe me you will be so much more happy. 2: Free from your heart from hatred A happy heart is a loving heart, and the world will want us to fill it with hatred and anger, Someone cuts you up in your car, and then blames you with a rude finger gesture. Someone makes some cheeky comment that they thought was a joke, but you didn't like. Well to be happy in our lives we have to look at forgiving these things and just accepting everything for what it was. A moment of turmoil in your life and not worth dragging around for a second more of what its worth,....and thats nothing. 3: Live Simply Happiness and living happy can come together so much more quickly if we just look at removing ourselves from lives stresses. Do we need the car that has the monthly repayments or the cable tv that we hardly ever watch? Do we need to go out for meals twice a week, and then have a huge credit card bill each month to pay off? Probably not, and happiness can come together quite quickly when we decide to focus on the things that make us happy, dont cost a lot and are simple. It could be sitting in the garden with some friends, instead of going out in the evening to the pub. It could be just going to the movies, but not spending a fortune on cokes, popcorn and food as well. You will be amazed at how much you are spending that doesn't truly make you happy. Its just something that you are doing each month, day or week. Live simply and let happiness come to you. 4: Give More There is a truth in life that giving a present makes us happier than receiving. It's the giving that makes all the difference. So when was the last time that you did something for someone else, just to make them happy? Probably quite awhile ago, as we are so wrapped up in our own lives doing what we need to do first and foremost. So lets start looking for happy in our lives 5: Expect Less If you can operate in a world, where you accept what life is bringing you, instead of setting such high goals that disappointment is always lurking then the happier you will be. This is the truth, and it doesnt matter who you are, or what you have achieved in life...happiness is never connected with an outcome. We think it is, but that is wrong. So do your best, enjoy yourself and realise that whatever happens, it is exactly what you was supposed to be getting.

Compound Effect is so amazingly powerful, and ,my guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a man who uses it daily. He overcame adversity, lost nearly 100 pounds, ran a marathon, dramatically changed his diet and created an approach to help others live a better life, every day. He calls it the Do a Day method and through his book flying off the shelves of Amazon and other good book stores, and his thriving online business he now shows us the steps to doing this. Changing our lives by small, doable steps, leading to overcoming the impossible, instead of tackling huge challenges head on which just wear us out. Now this wasn't a process that was obvious to our guest right from the start, although it is true that although ingrained in the corporate world, he has certainly had a foot in the entrepreneurial motivational camp right from the start Leaving Bowdoin College with an AB in Economics, Chinese and Philosophy, he started work as a Senior Associate Consultant at Liberty Mutual, before going back to school to get an MBA in Business. From then on he tackled many different positions for a multitude of companies leading to holding the Executive Vice President Head of Claims for Hiscox Insurance down in Atlanta. And you can see the ambition clearly as he climbed quickly the corporate ladder. all the time balancing the work ethic with keeping his personal and physical side on an even keel. He has faced challenges in life, such as obesity, depression, work stress, the responsibilities of parenthood, the potential of losing his wife to illness, and more. And he struggled, like anyone else. But as we see on Join Up Dots every-time, through that struggle, he learned the secret to not just overcoming any individual challenge, but creating a life of achievement, happiness and harmony. Do a Day will free you of the burden and judgement of yesterday‘s choices, while relieving you of the pressure of what tomorrow may bring. By teaching you how to identify your true motivation and how to use that to focus on what you have to do today, Do a Day will help you change your life. So is he now 100% entrepreneurial of does he see a combined approach to his workload going forward? And what has been the biggest learning from living the life that he has had so far? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Bryan Falchuk. Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Bryan Falchuk such as: How he has managed to juggle so many things in his life, to get his business running, even whilst working a fulltime job. Why Bryan never gives answers to someones problems, as he is a great believer that the individual has to work out the answers himself. We discuss why it is so hard for anyone to kick start their lives, as they really have to dig down and understand their own personal self value first. and lastly…. Bryan shares an amusing story about a veggie burger that emphasises that no matter how a life seems from the outside, people still have to deal with the little annoyances.

Book publishing is really hot at the moment with many people trying to find th book publishing fastrack to Amazon success.

Well my guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is Julie Broad, a lady spinning many different plates at one time. And I guess that is when a entrepreneur really comes into their own and this guest does it better than most with the ability to both diversify in the subjects that they are passionate about. She is an Amazon #1 Best Selling Author and International Book Award winner, recipient of the Top 20 under 40 award for Vancouver Island, a successful entrepreneur, recognized real estate investor and a popular speaker and workshop trainer. She’s been speaking on stages large and small across Canada since 2009, sharing her simple and strategic systems for having more impact & influence in your life and business. She is also a regular contributing writer for Canadian Real Estate Wealth’s Magazine. But once gain as we have seen recently on Join Up Dots, where she really comes into her own is by having the ability to tell stories that converts information into sales. She’s an expert on helping people who aren’t naturally born to sell, get results, make an impact and ultimately make more money (for their company and for themselves!). Sharing proven techniques for better communication, productivity and persuasion, She always leaves people inspired, excited and with clear steps to take action immediately. So out of all the things that fill her time what would be the one that she feels really pulls it all together and become her personal brand? Book publishing or her coaching business. And I suppose the big question as we have her on the show, is what does she find is the number one thing that holds people back from finding similar success? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Julie Broad Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Julie Broad such as: How she discovered that people do not want perfection from coaches and speakers, but they do want people that they can relate to on a personal level. Why she made the bold decision to leave the job that she had worked so hard to create, due to discovering that it wasn't the money that she really wanted in her life How she started creating her new business and the steps she has taken to bring it to the world, (and the people who need it most) and lastly…. Why selling doesn't need to be hard, and in fact working on the basis of "Not fit" can sometimes encourage results like never before.

Book publishing has never been easier

Fitness is the buzz word in todays world. Are you looking after your fitness? Are you planning on getting fit? Well today’s guest joining us on the Join Up Dots Steve Jobs inspired podcast is a lady who has made very happy. As this is the second time I have had the pleasure of grilling her on the show, as she last appeared back on episode 208, where we talked about her rise to the top of the fitness industry from a starting point that was more than a bit unusual. Yep, that’s all i’m saying, so you will have to go back and listen to that one to find out her unusual past occupations. So when she connected with me again and said “David, have I got more dots to share with you and your listeners” then I knew it was going to be good stuff. And it as this is a lady that is tackling one of the hardest fitness courses the world has scene “The Spartan Ultimate Team Challenge” created by Jo De Sena who also appeared on the show back on episode 312 And the big question to this desire to get down, muddy and sweaty is why? Is fitness that important? She is a beautiful lady, has a great business that is rocking and rolling, has clients across the world, and could stay in her comfort zone quite happily. But she doesn’t want to. She wants to prove herself and go after bigger and bigger challenges, which really joins up the dots to our first interview. As this is not your usual uber glamorous fitness guru. But this is a lady will drive, commitment and passion to do the unusual. To create her own path, And to go to bed each night content to know that she has given it her very best. So what was the appeal of going onto the hit TV show “Spartan Ultimate Challenge”? Mastery leads to operating on a higher level than anyone, and will ultimately lead to amazing things in our lives. The more we become experts in our chosen specific areas of interest, the more we can market our talents to others and reap the huge rewards that mastery brings. But of course there are very few people in the world that are willing to go this extra mile to become masters in their field. Think about Michael Jordan, David Beckham, Steve Jobs or any famous person you can think off, and there will have been hours and hours of secret practice. The times when no one was around to witness their additional work. The times when all their colleagues are either partying, resting or just doing the minimum to get by. And that isnt how life works. You need to be willing to suffer for your trade. You need to be willing to find time in your life to work on something, even if it is late at night or early in the morning. So when was the last time that you put in more work than you possibly thought was possible to hit true mastery in your life? If you are having trouble thinking of this mastery then there is a good chance that you have never done this. Thanks for listening and hope to hear from you again soon.

Digital Marketing is needed by all businesses, and my guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a a lady who is shining a light into the sky that screams to the world "I am here to help, let us do what we are good at!" She is the co-founder of Scoop industries a company focused on growing your services and business with simple strategies for sustainable success. Which sounds very impressive, but when you hear that she grew her digital marketing business from $0 to $200,000 in less than two years, then Im sure that you will be taking out your pen and paper and making some serious notes. After leaving the Indiana University Bloomington with a BA in Pyschology, Management and Spanish, it wasn't obvious that she would now be the co-founder of her own rocking and rolling digital company. Instead she did what most entrepreneurs do at the beginning, and she got a job, in her case with The Neilson Company, performing numerous roles over a four year period, before it seems an usual turn in her career path occurred when she joined Corepower Yoga for another few years. However it was in the midst of this, career detour when it seems to me the first of her dots leading to where she is today truly appeared She joined Catalina Marketing in Chicago where she was brought on to help start up a new digital media division, helping product, marketing, sales and internal finance and billing teams, create a new process for a new online, video, and mobile product. And now with Scoop Industries digital marketing she is bringing all the skills gained over the last ten years into one place and rocking it big-time. So what was the biggest learnings she brought with her, that made such a difference to the success of Scope? And looking back did she need a business partner to help her get it off the ground, or was this just another piece of growing into an entrepreneur business owner? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Brittany Becher. Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Brittany Becher such as: How she remembers growing up in a place that she couldnt wait to leave, and the reasons why she has now returned. Brittany shares how she met her business partner, and how she came to realise that this was the lady that would work perfectly with her - even though they live in different countries. Why she spent nine months planning out how the business was going to work with her partner going forward - which was so smart and saved months of diffculties. and lastly…. Why it is so important to be aware of those moments of your life when excitement appears in your stomach. Reflect on why you are feeling that way as there are clues to a new future.

Millionaires, and being a millionaire is a group that most of us wish we could be a part of. Well. my guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a man who has quite the ride to where he is now, as an author, business owner and on a mission to help the world shift their mindset to one of abundance. Get us all to be millionaires His early days were not as anyone would want for a child growing up. A survivor of a childhood riddled with domestic violence and alcoholism in the rural foothills of southern Virginia, he worked hard to throw of the mental chains that had covered him, to become the millennial CEO and founder of executive consulting firm, Excel Global Partners (EGP) and the Fund Managing Principal of the EGP Family of Companies. It has taken grit and persistence to get his award-winning firm, Excel Global Partners, to the position where it has served multi-billion dollar and mid-market clients in 20 states and in more than 16 countries across the world. But as we say this wasn't just a case of someone deciding to do things in a different way and then magic occurring. He has to master his habits, routines, and consciousness to train his mindset to shift from the poverty consciousness that he learned as a child to an abundance consciousness as an adult– and by doing so, became a multimillionaire. Today, he is having more fun than ever living the life of a purposeful millionaire with global reach. But this is probably the bit that I Love most about his story. For almost a decade, he quietly grew his business and his own personal development before ever setting out to coach or motivate anyone else, which believe me in today's world of "Hey i've just quit my job and now I'm a coach...come work with me", rarely ever happens. His book, The Purposeful Millionaire, is a best-selling guidebook of 52 rules that teaches people about mastering the millionaire mindset and getting the most out of life–doing more, living more, and achieving more! So is it the traumas in life, like the near drowning incident whilst kayaking the things that have taught him so much, or the everyday occurrences that most people just ignore, as well....living life? And where could he imagine being today if he hadn't started working on what was going on inside, before ever trying to master the world outside? Well let's find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, with the one and only Mr James Nowlin Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with James Nowlin such as: James shares how he has managed to get to his life to an eight on the happiness scale, and the steps he has taken to live this on a daily basis. James recalls how he had finally started to get the success once he had grasped that he had to learn more o then earn more. Self development is key for the progress he wanted. Why James believes that structuring your day with routines, gratitude and fitness regimes to really set yourself up for success in your business. So many people fail as they let themselves walk headfirst into burnout instead of doing the right work inside. and lastly…. Why pivoting in ones life is the key to gaining success. Nobody can expect to gain a foot on the right path straight out of the gate. But try things and you will find the thing that feels right.

World Travel and adventure is what many people crave in their lives, and so It’s with great delight that we bring onto the show today a man who had a similar background to myself. He began his career in the City Of London as a broker, and after a period of time knew that his time had come, to go after what lights him up inside. In fact it was a lot worse than that, as he actually became chronically depressed and knew that he had to do something about the way his life was going. And wow didn’t he do just that, as now he is a global adventurer, motivational speaker & philanthropist. He gave up this image of corporate success for a life on the road, which came about after being inspired by the movie The Motorcycle Diaries. The days of living and working behind his ‘slab of wood’ were well and truly over. His new passion: Finding ways for your inner rebel (that voice that tells you, you are worth so much more than you think) to come out and play.Adventure, adventure, adventure, As he says “The inner rebel tells you that your life is yours. And anything you dream of is possible. Anything. And that the fuel for all this delicious potential is simple: Kindness and harnessing the power of human connection. And. Doing it all with a smile on your face and a spring in your step!” So how did he take that first step when so many people would have thought that he had cracked it already? And does he look back at his past life, and know that this was just one of his dots that he had to go through to get to where he is today? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the inspirational Leon Logothetis. Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics as: How all his friends and family thought he was crazy just to throw it all up in the air and go after his dream, but he just knew that he had to do it. How the first journey that he took was travelling across America on just $5.00 dollars a day travelling from New York to Hollywood, connecting with the world. How he was taught by a homeless guy in Pittsburg that wealth isn’t in your wallet, but what is truly in your heart. How he nearly died whist driving a car across Romania, and could hear the words of Churchill “Never Give Up, Never Give Up, Never Give Up” And lastly…….. How he likes nothing more than jumping into a swimming pool, naked (and sometimes with a load of other people too….don’t tell your Mum!)
