How many times in your life do you look for the excitement and adventure?
Perhaps on you vacations at Disney World you actively seek out the biggest roller coasters for the scary thrill.
But what about in your normal life?
Well if you are like most people then the last thing you do is try to shake things up and make things exciting and different.
Well just this week, I spent a lovely day travelling around my local seaside town with the family trying to complete a treasure hunt.
It was simple, it was cheap and it was a total break from the norm.
I could have said, "No I have work to do actually", "I could have said "I rather would not!"
But instead it was a "Yes, sounds good" and it was good.
I set out my stall to have a good time and I did.
And that is the key message to this show.
By jumping in feet first and doing stuff, without trying to make things perfect or fully realised we get a real gift in our lives.
As lets be honest, more often than not it won't ever be any better anyway.
Life is more often than not about preparing to make things perfect in our lives, but actually what we get is a mild, diluted version of the Mini Adventure of what occurs when we leap.
So in this episode we talk at depth about going for the quick gains in our life.
We talk about just saying "Yes" and doing your best in life.
And I promise you, you will be amazed at the results of that you get.
Ready for the challenge?

His ability to consistently and quickly drive triple-digit growth is the result of his unique leadership style, breadth of experience and expertise in Lean Manufacturing methodologies." Sounds great, but of course on Join Up Dots we want to know more about how he got himself into this position. Where did he poistion himself straight from school to start the journey to where he is today. And this is an interesting one, as unlike most people who appear on the show, he hasn't jumped from role to role building up experience for many different companies and employers. Instead our guest today has been with the same company for over 21 years. Since 1996 he has been a professional interim manager normally acting in the role of Ops Director or MD for the Business Turnaround Group. where he goes into manufacturing/technology & service businesses that are under performing and turns them around. And now his has joined with Norwegian Serial Entrepreneur Erlend Bakke to bring to the world his new book 90 days to profit, which brings about all his learning's that have worked wonders for companies across the world. And what would be the key thing that someone could to today to make their business start going in the right direction? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Steve Shoulder Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with such as: Why Steve spends so much of his time dealing with people in business who are unwilling to change, and what he does to overcome the objections. This is a magic episode for sure. If you listen to Join Up Dots on a daily basis then you will hear me wax lyrical when introducing a guest as I certainly like to do my research, but todays show is different. When my guest connected with us to request a place on the show, he hit me with this little tale and I didn’t think i could out do this little lot. So in his own words “On the day I turned 30 years old I looked around me and I knew things had to change. I looked up at the barbed wire toped concrete walls of the maximum security prison I had called home for the last 2 years and I wondered where everything had gone so wrong. Only a few years earlier life had been about fast cars, women and parties. I was born in England but schooled and grew up in Johannesburg in South Africa. I had a career in television that put me in peoples living rooms on a daily basis. I was a household name and people would ask me for my autograph when they saw me out and about. The choices I made led me to class A drug addiction and the results pulled the carpet from under my feet. Everything was gone within 3 months and I found myself living as a homeless man in one of the most dangerous cities in the world, Johannesburg. Drugs lead to crime and crime leads to prison. After 9 months awaiting trail I escaped from prison. Two weeks later I was re-arrested buying drugs on the street. I was sentenced as a security risk prisoner and given 3 years without parol in a maximum security prison. Today things look very different and I live a happy and peaceful life with my wife Colette and my daughter Kristen. I run a number of successful online businesses that pay my bills, I have authored a book due for release in June and I am able to enjoy a balance in life through my work as a psychotherapist. “ Wow , what a story, but believe me there is so much more to the guys tale, the we could literally go three or four episodes and still not touch the surface. So looking back on his life as a famous TV magician, did he find it easier to to get to the top, than he has since getting out of prison and changing direction? Or was that just the starting point to what he would call his “Sweetspot”…..has he now found the path that he would say was truly his to find? Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Kenneth Kelly Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Kenneth Kelly such as: How he found the ability to perform magic in his early days was a great way of finding acceptance with his peer group, as he felt very isolated. How me and Kenneth both have to deal with social anxiety on a daily basis. and the steps we need to take to handle the issue allowing us to perform to our highest level. He shares with is the moment that his career was well and truly finished, standing at a window looking down on the pavement deciding to jump, and what stopped him. And lastly…. Why his parents loved the idea of him becoming a magician at the age of seven, but told him to get a real job when he told them the same at eighteen…. is this a common occurrence across the globe?? Yeah of course it is!

Time is a problem. Chances are good that, at some time in your life, you've taken a time management class, read about it in books, and tried to use an electronic or paper-based day planner to organize, prioritize and schedule your day. "Why, with this knowledge and these gadgets," you may ask, "do I still feel like I can't get everything done I need to?" The answer is simple. Everything you ever learned about managing time is a complete waste of time because it doesn't work. Before you can even begin to manage time, you must learn what time is. A dictionary defines time as "the point or period at which things occur." Put simply, time is when stuff happens. There are two types of time: clock time and real time. In clock time, there are 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour, 24 hours in a day and 365 days in a year. All time passes equally. When someone turns 50, they are exactly 50 years old, no more or no less. In real time, all time is relative. Time flies or drags depending on what you're doing. Two hours at the Department of Motor Vehicles can feel like 12 years. And yet our 12-year-old children seem to have grown up in only two hours. Related: Looking for a New Payment Company? You're 'Due' for Some Good News. Which time describes the world in which you really live, real time or clock time? The reason time management gadgets and systems don't work is that these systems are designed to manage clock time. Clock time is irrelevant. You don't live in or even have access to clock time. You live in real time, a world in which all time flies when you are having fun or drags when you are doing your taxes. The good news is that real time is mental. It exists between your ears. You create it. Anything you create, you can manage. It's time to remove any self-sabotage or self-limitation you have around "not having enough time," or today not being "the right time" to start a business or manage your current business properly. There are only three ways to spend time: thoughts, conversations and actions. Regardless of the type of business you own, your work will be composed of those three items. As an entrepreneur, you may be frequently interrupted or pulled in different directions. While you cannot eliminate interruptions, you do get a say on how much time you will spend on them and how much time you will spend on the thoughts, conversations and actions that will lead you to success. Related: Tips for a More Productive Day Practice the following techniques to become the master of your own time: Carry a schedule and record all your thoughts, conversations and activities for a week. This will help you understand how much you can get done during the course of a day and where your precious moments are going. You'll see how much time is actually spent producing results and how much time is wasted on unproductive thoughts, conversations and actions. Any activity or conversation that's important to your success should have a time assigned to it. To-do lists get longer and longer to the point where they're unworkable. Appointment books work. Schedule appointments with yourself and create time blocks for high-priority thoughts, conversations, and actions. Schedule when they will begin and end. Have the discipline to keep these appointments. Plan to spend at least 50 percent of your time engaged in the thoughts, activities and conversations that produce most of your results. Schedule time for interruptions. Plan time to be pulled away from what you're doing. Take, for instance, the concept of having "office hours." Isn't "office hours" another way of saying "planned interruptions?" Take the first 30 minutes of every day to plan your day. Don't start your day until you complete your time plan. The most important time of your day is the time you schedule to schedule time. Take five minutes before every call and task to decide what result you want to attain. This will help you know what success looks like before you start. And it will also slow time down. Take five minutes after each call and activity to determine whether your desired result was achieved. If not, what was missing? How do you put what's missing in your next call or activity? Put up a "Do not disturb" sign when you absolutely have to get work done. Practice not answering the phone just because it's ringing and e-mails just because they show up. Disconnect instant messaging. Don't instantly give people your attention unless it's absolutely crucial in your business to offer an immediate human response. Instead, schedule a time to answer email and return phone calls. Block out other distractions like Facebook and other forms of social media unless you use these tools to generate business. Remember that it's impossible to get everything done. Also remember that odds are good that 20 percent of your thoughts, conversations and activities produce 80 percent of your results.

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is with a lady who is on a mission to help the worlds entrepreneurs own their own successful business that can someday be run without the business owner pulling all the strings.
Along with her team she will push her clients towards the first step in the direction of business freedom, time abundance and the ability to
Sound good...you betcha.
But how has she developed herself to a position where she is rightly called the “Swiss Army Knife” for Business because of her knowledge of tools, automation and needs of the small business owner.
Her ability to create the perfect solution to any challenge in the most cost effective way for the small business owner that is struggling with the business behind the business.
Well she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Advertising and Public Relations with an emphasis in Marketing and Event Planning from Grand Valley State
And due to the fact that most people only understand what they know, and unfortunately 80% of running a successful small business is NOT their trade knowledge, it seems as if she has a never ending conveyor belt lining up to work with her.
So what is the hardest part of growing a service based company like her own?
And does she look back at her history and think "Man if only I knew what I know now then we would have been rocking in record time!"
Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Brook Borup.
During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Brook Borup such as:
Why she is so focused on building a team around her that will free her even more from her business, to tackle the things that fall within her own personal super talent.
Why Brook believes that it is so important to spend as much money as you can possibly on hiring a VA. If you go cheap, you get cheap results.
Why a great way to start a business is to simply look around at the people you already know, and ask them "How can I help you?"
Brooke reveals her worst client ever....and you will be surprised to know exactly who she said.....i was for sure :)

My guest today, on the confidence boosting Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a man who only recently appeared on the show, back on episode 675 And why is he back so quickly I hear you cry, when there are so many guests desperate to get on the show to start joining up dots. Well, during the recording it was obvious to me that there were so many stories needing to be told, which we just didn't get near to discovering and will be so useful for all of us, as we learn to trust ourselves and go for the gold in our lives. Well, after an unfulfilling first semester of college that resulted in major stress, anxiety and unhappiness, he knew that he needed to make a change. Although doing well academically, he had no passion for what he was doing. He realized that going to school and getting a degree might not be the right path for him - at least at that point in my life. So he decided to take a chance, leaving school behind to follow his heart and explore other ways of life. With just a backpack and on a shoe-string budget, he spent 4 months traveling through Guatemala, Nicaragua and Costa Rica without a phone, yearning to disconnect from the widespread dominance of social media. From living in the jungle and teaching English to poverty stricken kids, to meeting inspirational people from around the world, his quest took him to remote and exotic destinations throughout Central America. And now with an amazing book Off The Beaten Trail doing well, and his speaking career taking off it quite simply seems to me that this is a man that we need to keep our eye on. Which is why, we have him back on the show already. So when he decided to go down to South America, what was he hoping to achieve? Disconnection or actual connection with his real self. And was there anytime when he felt that he had bitten off more than he could hope to chew, but still managed to overcome? Well let's find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Jake Heilbrunn Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Jake Heilbrunn such as: Why Jake knew that he needed to maintain a lifestyle that would protect his balance of $4,000 travel funds, so found a way of volunteering to gain food and board Why the power of story telling was so important to Jake through his travels, and why he feels that people should embrace this age old tradition more than they do today. and lastly…. Why the world is full of amazing people, who come into your life just when you need them most and will help you out when times are tough. So dont be worried about what could happen. You have support everywhere.

Todays guest is a man who for over a decade chased the Hollywood Dream. Hustling like mad as a writer to get that breakthrough that would make everything possible in his life However he hit a crisis point on New Year’s Eve of The Millennium when he became terrified that 5+ years of driving a taxi to survive would be irreversible career suicide. He quit writing, dove into an intense transformational period of self-help and personal development work, and focussed on making money for the next 8 years, becoming fat and happy. Obese, actually. As the economy collapsed in 2008, Clint was at a men’s self-help meeting when the shaman pointed at Clint across the yellow and orange crackling flames of the camp-fire and said, “You don’t know it yet, but you’re already dead.” Well that is one of those comments that you can either take two ways. One….”What the hell is this man talking about, its quite obvious that I’m not dead!” Or two………what our guest today did. He took it as inspiration to change his life like never before and in 2009, he made sure that he was going to live as if it was going to be his last year on earth He lost 40-lbs, built a factory which allowed his business to thrive during The Great Recession and beyond, wrote his first bestseller and revived his crumbling marriage. But rest assured this is not a story about a man who simply got lucky. This is a story about a man who took courgagoues decisions, and consistent action which led to a remarkable life. So does he see the turn round as simply a change in mindset, or is it much more than that? And does he look back and think, if only I started earlier, or did he need to go through the rough times, to get to the true waiting path? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Clint Arthur. Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics as: How becoming a celebrity can fill out your bank account, buy you nice cars, but can never fill up a hole in your heart. How he recalls the moment that he burnt all his own writings and screenplays, and took control of his life, burning all his bridges in the process. How the first question he was presented with on the Today Show, lead to him finding the title of his second book. You never know when inspiration will occur. Why it is so important to ensure that you look the way that people expect you look when you are performing the role. And lastly…….. How he can now see his big dot as the moment that he stopped smoking marijuana, and he has never looked back since he tool the decision to quit.

Today’s Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a listeners question and answers session where your host discusses the quickest way to get a pay-rise in your life. So many people think that they have to work harder. They have to go cap in hand to your bosses begging for more money from the pots that they swear are holding nothing other than spiders and dust. But more often than not this is the last thing to do, as you aren’t in control of the results. But looking at what you are spending each day in your household your are one hundred percent in control off. So here is the question……….. Dear David, this question probably doesn’t fall into what you would normally answer, but here’s hoping for some great advice as I really don’t know what to do for the best. I am looking to start a new business (I haven’t got to the planning stage yet so have no idea what I would like to do) I just know that I can’t work for my company anymore as I dont get paid enough to live like I want. I do love my job but all pay increases have been stopped for the last five years, so I don’t imagine that I could just simply ask for more money as this will not be received well I’m sure. I am working as a hospital administrator dealing with appointments and cancellations in a hospital in North Dakota, and the team are great, the work although boring to do is what I want to do, as I leave everyday with an empty workload. Which is what I love more than anything, as my own personal time means everything to me. Sorry to ramble, but can you suggest anything as I know from listening to your show that you have been on both sides of the fence. Kind Regards Eileen Vocilla

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a man who first appeared on Join Up Dots back on episode 103. When the show was just a baby compared to what it is today. Back then we discussed the unusual concept that sales is in fact a honorable profession. Wait I hear you say…surely I didn’t hear the words Sales and honourable in the same sentence? But our guest waxed lyrical about why he felt that it was in fact true, and why since 2000 he had focused his time, passions and energy’s in the world of Insurance Brokerage, coming out the other end hardened by the work that he was performing. As he said he was bloodied, bruised, kicked in the teeth, chewed-up, and spit-out. But instead of becoming cynical to this work, he instead developed a passion for helping others learn from his successes, mistakes and backstory. Focusing on four main areas, Sales training, Attitude, Connections and Loyalty he worked tirelessly to create success in his life. And now he has managed to take these concepts and turn them into a personal branding encompassing coaching, training, and keynote presentations across America. He is a man on fire, and certainly from my perspective seems to be in control of what he is doing, where perhaps the last time he was on the show wasn't quite the case. So how has he done this and still juggled the issues that comes with being a family man. And is he where he wants to be in his life, or now is he aiming for bigger and bigger things that he just couldn't have dreamt possible back in the early days. Well let's find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Brent Kelly. Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Brent Kelly such as: Why there is a comfort level across the world, which has led to so many people to simply follow what everyone else is doing, which is a huge mistake. Follow the crowd and see your prospects diminish massively. Go your own way and get the rewards. Why Brent realises that their was a confidence issue in his life, which lead him to not fully grasp the value he could bring to the world. When this came together for him then everything became so much easier. Why the world is more and more looking for the "how long it is going to take" answer, whilst they should actually be looking at "How can I become good?" and lastly…. Why you shouldn't be worried about the comparisons that you see online today even though there are so many. Just get your head down and do the work.
