Entrepreneur Success Stories With Join Up Dots - Confidence, Motivation & Entertainment To Kick Start Your Online Career

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is with a man who is joining a merry bunch of former guests who have appeared on the show twice, back on episode 271 He is Inc. columnist, Professor of leadership, entrepreneurship, and hustling, and Entrepreneur, MBA, Astrophysics PhD, studied with Nobel Laureates and also swam across the Hudson river and almost drowned in the process. Yep, you thought he was really clever up to that point didn’t you! As he told us last time on the show “I do what I love in life and do my best to cut out what I don’t. Loving what you do means you will do more than if you don’t, so I’ve accomplished a few things to high levels while enjoying the process. I’ve also made my life easy and fun. I think anyone can. In fact I think making life easy and fun is easy and fun, so love what you do while accomplishing more than you thought you could too.” And it certainly seems that he is a man of his word. And now he is bringing his experience to the world in written form after converting a course that he has taught for years with the soon to be released book Leadership Step by Step This is a book that offers that rare breed of learning—genuine, authentic, effective, engaging, and, most of all, fun. It is based on the best leadership philosophy and practice. As it says on the book “The results of doing its exercises insure that you will become an authentic, great leader, able to serve and to live to the best of your ability. Anyone who aspires to lead, to lead more effectively, or to live life to its fullest would benefit from Joshua’s exercises. This is true for business, public service, the social sector, the arts, education, and any sphere where leaders serve.” So how has he managed to bring the word “fun” to the forefront of his business, when so many people think that this is for the weekend, or for kids? And is he a trailblazer for this, or is there more and more leadership experts looking at the “F” word as something that is how we should all be operating? Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show once more to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Joshua Spodek

Todays guest joining us on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots podcast interview is a man who has a story like so many entrepreneurs I have spoke to. He started his life with limited idea of what he wanted to become, and even less of an idea of how to start something…in fact anything. As he says ” I was born in Denmark it all started out pretty bad. I was very shy and introverted and had no idea what I wanted in life, except I didn’t want to be employed. So with no real business education I started my first business at 21. Since I had no marketing know how, it only took me a year to run my business deep into the ground and go bankrupt.” But there comes a time when you realise that after years of study at school, that most of us want to leave far behind, you need to get serious and study like your life depends on it. You need to become an expert in something that can open doors across the world. Our guest realised that its ok to have an amazing business idea or product, but unless people find out about it, you are dead in the water. And so with a total obsession he set to work understanding the skills required to become a top marketer. And so successful was he at learning these skills, that he built a worldwide business and retired whilst still a young man. And like all the greatest sportsman who find out that retirement isn’t all its cracked up to be, he returned to teach entrepreneurship and marketing and set out to create one of London’s biggest entrepreneurial communities with almost 17,000 ACTIVE members. All from just £3,500 in total marketing costs. As he says “Before you think I’m one of those people that think they can walk on water 24/7, I’m definitely not. In fact I’ve made some big mistakes that I’m quite embarrassed about. But I’m not afraid to admit it and talk about my boo-boo’s especially because I know it can save someone else from the same ill fate.” So why did he always know that he didn’t want to employed even as a small child? And what were the really big mistakes and how did he mentally recover to keep moving forward? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Patrick Powers Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty subjects with Patrick Powers such as: Why he decided to change his name, lose his Danish accent, and overcome his shyness as a young man before he did anything towards creating his first business success. Why the online world needs to compliment the offline world to gain the true success. One needs the other to become fully realised which so many people fail to realise. How hitting rock bottom is more often than not the best place to find the true starting point to a life of your dreams. And lastly…….. How introverts and extroverts need to really focus in on their energy levels to ensure that they are recharging themselves in the right way ready to blaze big when required.

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a lady who has been on the show previously way back on episode 242 Where she spoke candidly about her journey of success, failure, struggles and self discovery For years, she suffered from a long list of physical, emotional, and financial problems. After giving away all her possessions, an extended spiritual journey connected her to the deeper parts of herself that led her to everything she needed to find health, well-being, and peace of mind. In the 1980s, she thought she was on the way to financial security as she rapidly built a wholesale, retail, and mail order business to the point where she was grossing over $30,000 a month. Sounds good doesn’t it, but her lack of business and financial skills led to her downfall—and bankruptcy. But although a dark period of her life, she knew that she lacked the knowledge to prevent this happening, so studied everything she could to ensure it wouldnt happen again She set out on the path of learning everything she could about business and financial management and this knowledge allowed her to flourish as an entrepreneur while sharing what she had learned with others. But there is so much more to her story, than we can cover in a short introduction like this. And now after her last appearance on Join Up Dots, she was inspired to put into words her decision to free herself up from all her material belongings in The Search For Connection: A Spiritual Journey to Physical, Emotional, And Financial health now flying off the shelves at Amazon. So what was it that made her want to reconnect with this part of her life that occurred over forty years ago now? And has it helped her even more, understand how the clues to her future are always somehow linked to her past? Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Joan Sotkin.

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a man who certainly has had his ups and downs since entering into the startup world to where he is today. And so my friends, that of course makes him a perfect guest for another inspiring, motivational and educational episode of Join Up Dots After graduating with a degree in music, he of course was like so many people who follow an education based career, convinced that an employment in the music industry was beckoning. But little by little he realised that this wasn't going to happen for him, so ended up waiting tables in LA to earn some cash. At the same time one of his flat mates, was doing very well writing code for a company. In fact based on the fact that his mate could roll into work when he wanted and basically in the words of our guest "Never be fired from the company as he had written much of their programming" inspired our guest to start working on his computer skills. He went from waiting tables in LA while pursuing a career in music, to building a development agency, to building several other products and companies, and to ultimately now becoming the CEO of Crew. How he is approaching the opportunities and challenges of taking over the leadership role as CEO of Crew, which is 3 years old, has raised $11 million in funding, has a valuation of $30 million, and is at the forefront of the freelance economy (which is shaping the future of work). So everything looks rosy in the garden for our guest. He looks relaxed, is loving his work, and on his way up. So how did he get himself back on his feet after the disappointment of realising a life in music was unlikely to be happening for him? And when he realised that his development agency was going under, due to choosing the wrong business partners to work with did he think he didn't have it in him to create his own success? Well let's find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, the one and only Michael Sacca

Stress is a problem that most people deal with, and my guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is with a man who has an amazing story that has led to where he is today as part ninja, part monk, and part of this world. Yes, that is a start that we have never done on Join Up Dots, but after you listen to the guest talk then you realise that it’s about spot on. Going back in time, our guests story started as he travelled the world as a professional athlete coming from Canada, through the US, and overseas into Australia and Germany as he followed his dreams and passion of baseball. In fact he spent most of his life as an athlete, and as he got older, he discovered a passion that wasn’t expected at the beginning of his sporting life But throughout an arduous season swinging the bat, he found he was able to stay healthy and injury free through a long season no matter what city, or continent or how far he travelled. And this was the first dawning realisation of where he wanted to go in his life The experiments he performed on himself through both nutrition and fitness started to form his fledgling business, and what he found was fascinating, He discovered that the majority of what causes us issues in our health all stem from our stress levels. He discovered that if we’re able to reduce the stress in our lives through what we put in and on our body, and by reducing the stress in our environment, we can live healthy, vibrant lives. So how did he discover this, and although part monk is he able to to now remain stress free in his life when someone cuts him up on the freeway? And what is the number one thing that we can do to induce this state of stress free relaxation around in our lives? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Drew Taddia

Today’s guest joining us on Join Up Dots, is one of those guys that I love speaking to as when you first research them you think “They are a little bit mad” And then when you see them describe themselves as “An amateur adventurer, digital nomad and travel addict. I like to get muddy, naked and painted.” you think yeah wasn’t far wrong. But what makes this guy fascinating to me, is how very easily he could have been living the normal, humdrum lifestyle of so many of us if he had listened to the words of others. As he says in his own words “I first started backpacking when I was eighteen and was instantly hooked by all the inspiring people I met whilst hitching, camping and couch-surfing around Europe. Since then, I have lived in India for a year, worked on bars in Vietnam, herded goats in the Holy Land and conquered the highest navigable pass in the world armed with a poorly drawn map and a packet of ritz crackers. I have survived knife-point robberies in Nepal, guerrilla encounters in Myanmar, motorbike crashes in Vietnam and numerous other mis-adventures. In 2011, I came back to the UK and settled into a job (much to my parents delight!) working for a travel company; I hoped I had found my true calling! Sadly, I spent almost all of my time behind a desk and so I decided to throw it all in, start this blog, and hit the road. And now with thousands of followers actively consuming the tales of adventure and madness everyday, it seems to me that he has now found his true calling. So what was it about ritz crackers and the life on the open road that so appealed in the early days? And by surviving on just $12 dollars a day for over two years, has this been the key to totally immersing yourself into this thing called Planet Earth, that so many of us rarely truly see? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, with the one and only Mr Will Hatton Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Will Hatton such as: How he almost had a mental breakdown due to feeling so lost during a period of his life that he literally didn’t know which way to turn, whilst others seemed to know instinctively where they were heading. How he almost lost his leg when trekking through the South American jungle, and what he learnt from the experience Why a business built on passion will always find the way to overcome the obstacles that will occur on the way. How the entrepreneurial spirit that allows him to thrive could not have been as developed without the travel and adventure he has tackled. And lastly……. Why you can always create a plan b if you need one, but for gods sake don’t waste time trying to make everything safe and perfect if you never get going.

My guest today loves sex and on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a lady who is doing things that from the outside might seem a bit unexpected. But that is what makes her perfect for a show like Join Up Dots She is a Brazilian lawyer, former legal professor, author of a textbook on international contract law, as well as the author of the hot sizzling sexy legal thriller "Behind The Door" and its follow up Lara's Journal: A Sizzling, Psychological Suspense (Hidden Motives Book 2) And this sounds like my kind of book "Simone Bennet is on a long vacation, trying to heal from the trauma she suffered at the hands of a serial-killer kidnapper. After looking death in the face, she tries to develop a new outlook on life—live in the moment! Carl, the charming lawyer, is back, asking once more for Simone’s help, this time in analyzing Lara’s journals, which were discovered by her siblings after her death. In her own words, Lara divulges all her secrets, and reveals a dramatic world of betrayal, passion, and the most unusual sexual behaviors, exposing the beautiful architect’s troubled life. Well, of course will discuss her latest work, but what interest me most is where she directs her passions. How does she know what she should be doing next in her life, as she speaks four languages: English, French, Portuguese and Spanish, she also studies Chinese. She loves to dance (Tango) and workout. She loves to travel, loves good wine, and has been studying astrology for fifteen years If this is not enough she also likes to paint and cook. So with all these different interests how does she manage to create something worthwhile, and not end up simply dabbling here there and everywhere? And when she was a young girl, what did she want to do most in her life. Was it an author, or has this taken her by surprise? Well let's find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Adriana Gavazzoni.

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a man who started his entrepreneurial life with a similar vibe to so many people on the planet today. He wanted to scream "Show me the money!" As he says" My dream growing up was to be RICH. It wasn’t about Financial Freedom or having the ability to do what I want or any of that. I just wanted to be rich. My ego wanted everything that went along with it. The big house, the fancy cars…all of it. I loved the lure of it all and in my young, immature, egocentric, male mind I mistakenly thought that money was what this life was all about. For me, in the beginning, money was my GOD. Right when I was finishing up college (I say “finishing” instead of graduating because I never did) we came into one of the biggest Real Estate Booms this country has ever seen. I immediately saw the opportunity and began obsessively looking to buy my first piece of real estate. It came fast, and I bought AND SOLD a house in the same day for a profit of $33,000!! How’s that for a days work?" Now speed on a few years and the words that he had heard so many times "like “make sure you don’t rush things”, “don’t bite off more than you can chew”, “don’t over leverage yourself”, “make sure you get out early, don’t be caught when the market turns” etc…, etc… started coming back to haunt him. As he says "All these really smart and seasoned pros were telling me this, but the cocky 20 something year old thought he knew more than these guys did, and I got burnt BIG TIME." And that is a great place to start this episode of Join Up Dots. So how did he go from crashing and burning to where he is today, where he has built-owned 6 Multi- Million Dollar Businessess across various industries, raised 10+ Million in Public Capital and 2+ Million in private capital, and alongside his wife Amy currently are owner-operators of AKC Fitness, a distribution channel for health and wellness products where they have a team of 25,000+ distributors. And is everything built in a much more stable and consistent way than he had previously achieved in his life? Well let's find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Keith Callahan

My guest today, on the Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a lady who for many years suffered with the age old question that we all seem to struggle with “What should I be doing with my life?” On the outside, it was a question that didn’t seem to be required to answer. She had a great job, a good-life, friends, a boyfriend…..most of our must have tick boxes were well and truly filled. However deep down she had a feeling that there must be more to life than what she was experiencing. This couldn’t be what she had been placed on this earth to experience. So, within six months she had quit her job, and set about going after the life of her dreams. She worked out what she most wanted to achieve, she wrote the lists, she worked her butt off, and she ended up doing something that she didn’t like. As she says “Not every business is meant for you and just because others can make a go of it, doesn’t mean it’s your calling. It was a hard decision to make but I decided, it was time to let it go. When I did that I felt a sense of relief. While I didn’t like the fact that I had just ‘failed’, I did feel relief that there was nowhere else to go but up. Plus, my amazing dad had said to me at that time, ‘Jennifer, failure is like a badge of honour to an entrepreneur. What’s next?” That was a big moment for me. It’s when I learned, and I mean intrinsically learned in all the cells of my being that failure isn’t bad. That failure is a part of growth and it can have a very empowering meaning if we allow it. So where did this moment of relief and letting go take her? And could she have to got to where she is now, without going though this period of her life? Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, with the one and only Jennifer Trask
