Entrepreneur Success Stories With Join Up Dots - Inspiration, Confidence, & Small Business Coaching To Start Your Online Career

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a lady who I am delighted to have on the show. The reason why should be quite clear as we speak to her. Join Up Dots has always been about letting you the listener grow the confidence to tackle all obstacles head on. Smash doors in walls where there was no chance of escaping and living the life that you deserve. Well today’s guest is doing all that and more. She was a student at The College of New Jersey, obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies, before starting in 2016––a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counselling from The College of New Jersey. Which of course is impressive but not remarkable. However added to the fact that she was born with an eye disorder called, Cone Dystrophy, which has now progressed to the state where she is blinded by all lights, you can see that she has a powerful mindset to achieve. My mission in life is to continue to help spread awareness about mental and physical disabilities and with her book Now I See: How I Battled Blindness, Mental Illness, an Espresso Habit and Lived to Tell the Tale flying off the shelves it looks like things are going the right way after all. So when she was first diagnosed with her condition did she understand instantly how it would change her life? And how has she overcome the depression and mental issues that could have had her hiding away in the dark, instead blazing brightly across the world? Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mariagrazia Buttitta . Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Mariagrazia Buttitta such as: How she can now see that her eye condition has become a true blessing in her life, and has literally taken her life in a new direction. Why life can be so difficult due to the comments and opinions of others. They base their comments on what “They Think” is possible and can often limit us in our own adventures. and lastly….

Fancy a bit of housesitting to earn some money? Well it’s an absolute delight to have on the Join Up Dots free podcast interview, two ladies who literally bound around the world like some excited Labradors. And believe me that might not sound like a compliment, but it certainly is. As the two of them have had some huge setbacks in life, but haven’t allowed them to lose their spirit for life, and their desire to create adventure in their relationship. After originally meeting in 2010 at a course in Sydney, called ‘The Quest for Truth’ it became evident that the quest for truth, was going to be linked with their love of travel. A few years back, after leaving Australia, they entered into a business opportunity in Dubai, which of course they thought would be a good move, but turned out to be anything but. Or so hey would have thought at the time, but as we see literally everyday on Join Up Dots, the darkest times in our lives become the moments where we find our true paths. Left with literally nothing, they had to reassess what they wanted to do, and how they wanted to do it….with the caveat of making it as cheap as possible. With a mere $300 in their pockets they decided to start travelling through house-sitting as a way to save money on the rent they could no longer afford. They figured if they could save themselves rent and utility bills for six months or so, they could get back on our feet… and then go and do something they really wanted to do, which of course would involve travel. But actually they had found it already, and now are the creators of the international housesitting community, where they share their knowledge and experience with anyone who has that desire for the nomadic lifestyle….which I think most of us have at one time or another. So do they look back at Dubai, and go “Do you know that was truly the making of us…we wouldn’t change a thing!” And do they believe that within all of us is a business that can be built purely on our passions, leading to a life that we love? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start Joining Up Dots with the one and only, Nat & Jodie Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Nat & Jodie such as: How they have no dreams to settle down and love the thrill of what the future holds for them every time they open their eyes. How they compliment each other strengths perfectly with one being thoughtful and the other being gung-ho. How they both feel that nowadays a job is nowhere near as secure as getting out there and building a business based on passion. And lastly…. How they had no plans at all when they started the housesitting community, but have built it all by trial and error…which we all can do.

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a startup expert who has worked so hard to where he is today, he has more lessons learned before the age of 30 than most people aged…well 30. He is proof that hard-work and determination pay off’s as he climbed the ladder of the restaurant industry as many do: with a great deal of empathy, a little bit of luck, and a massive amount of overconfidence. After graduating from Harvard in 2009, he worked his way up from being a busboy in Boston to being a beverage director for Momofuku in New York City, where he managed the buying, pricing, and selling of wine, beer, and spirits for the restaurant. Through living through this experience, he decided that he wanted to have more ownership of the guest experiences he was creating, so he took to Chicago to see how Booth could help him open his own restaurant. While attending Booth, our guest met his business partner, Hunter Swartz, and the two quickly realized that their shared background in endurance sports mixed with complementary work experiences could build something remarkable. He then joined the Eastman Egg team in January 2014 and served as COO for three years where in his time there, the company grew to four operating units and grew its revenues and team each by a factor of 10. And now he is also the author of the latest book to fly off the shelves with “What I Learned Before 30 – a biographical look that captures some of the best, and worst, moments of his life. As it says in the intro “I feel like i’ve finally learned that growing up to have different perspective than my parents was not a failure; it was the whole point. I cant wait to use the next 30 years to celebrate what makes us different, rather than resent it, and enjoy what a diverse, unique and wonderful family we are” So, said in another way, he has found the path in life that is the right one for him...creating startup guides for people to follow, and although others may not understand it makes no difference. And that is where we should all be, walking boldly into our own future and not one that has been constructed by the idealism of anyone else. So will there be a what I learned before sixty book coming up, and does he feel that mistakes are the true gift in life? And what does he enjoy doing most in his life, as he certainly has many things per day that could take up his time? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only startup man, Mr Drew Davis.

Small business mastery takes a while to achieve, and my guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a man with a personal motto that if you don't understand it as a business owner...then you should. Measure, Motivate, and Manage. He has extensive working knowledge regarding all aspects of operating a successful in-home service business, including (but not limited to) sales and marketing, recruitment, systematising, and human resources. He has helped numerous business owners revitalize their companies and become true business owners, not just operators. And this is the key element to it all....why is it that so many people create a business that actually runs them instead of the other way around? You don't set off on a path that you hope will lead to longer hours, more stress and headache after headache. It's all about walking on beaches, relaxing with friends and living the dream. And today's guest is most certainly living the dream now, but that wasn't always the case. He has been where you are. Working long hours, with his life supporting his business. Unable to step away from the day to day operation for fear of it disappearing in front of him. So how has he managed to switch off the life support system and see the business breath and flourish without him? And are their common issues that people almost have to go through to achieve the success that they want? Well let's find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Justin Deese. Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Justin Deese such as: Why so many people feel that in the early days of their business they can outwork their issues, but this is never the case and ultimately can bring even greater issues. How Justin felt when the business was growing too big for him. Did he have the skills to manage it? Could he handle the extra workload? All 100% imposter syndrome. How he has managed to create a business that is transportable, and is demonstrating that as he drives around America with his family in an RV. Why he wont do anything in his life that he doesn't love. no matter how lucrative it can be for him and his family. and lastly…. Why it is so important to have a vision of what you want in your life, not necessarily just in your business, as soon as you start working on building the dream.

Lies, Lies, Lies everywhere. That is how it seems sometimes in life. My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a man who connected with the show by email, asking to appear. And believe me, we get so many of them nowadays that sometimes you don't give them quite the focus that perhaps you should. This wasn't the case with today's guest who hit us with "I've lived in the South Pole for 13 months! My life is an ongoing adventure with worldly experiences including (but not limited to) having spent 22 months UNDERWATER on nuclear submarines, 13 months at the geographic South Pole conducting atmospheric research, 3 years shipboard in the arctic, and 1 year shipboard on the equator conducting ocean floor studies! I have written extensively on terrorism and related subjects, and authored the bestselling current events book, "The Chicken Little Agenda – Debunking Experts’ Lies," wherein I assure your listening audience that the sky is not falling!" He is an established author, who in his own words has "spent nearly my entire life off the beaten path. " So with a history like that where do we start first? And what does he tell people he is...author, adventurer, or someone simply living a life on his own terms? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Dr Robert Williscroft Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Dr Robert Williscroft such as: Why his life was so structured for so many years in the US Navy, which has led to his delight in the creative decision making of his later life. We discuss the issue that educated people can sometimes find themselves in, whereby the greater the knowledge they possess the more unsure they can become. and lastly…. How Donald Trump has created the "Fake News" movement and how it's genius lies with the ability to merge so much information into one collective. With so many angles being show, who knows what is the right one?

Life Coach is a word that you see everywhere today. But are you born a life coach or do you need to live a life of ups and downs? Well today’s guest joining on the Join Up Dots show is a lady who I first connected with several years ago, but never got a chance to properly say hello to. Which is a bit of a regret, as not only is she a truly lovely individual but is also based in this little island of ours: Yep, she is based in rainy Manchester in the United Kingdom and since working for British Telecom as a Call Centre Trainer has been on a mission. A mission to develop employees everywhere to become the best that they can be, and find happiness whilst they are doing it. And she certainly seems to now have found her thing, after as much struggle as everyone else As she says “I’d love to be able to say I’m one of those people who is so super clever, I built a successful coaching business easily. But that would be a big. Fat. Lie. I spent my first year as a coach taking every course I could get my hands on, which led to massive overwhelm. It became a patchwork quilt of information: a course on blogging, another for WordPress, another on podcasting, then copywriting. But it wasn’t cohesive. I wanted courses to help me go step-by-step so I could focus on what I loved, coaching.” And so how has she done it? How has she managed to blend her years of being an employee into someone who is crushing it, but also being totally themselves…being happy in the process? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, with the lovely Northern lass herself Jo Casey. Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty Subjects with Jo Casey such as: Why she is so aware of the power that comes with being different to everyone else, and by embracing that fact you will find your customers so much quicker. How looking back on the first year of her making mistake is now fine as she can see that nobody was really listening or watching what she was doing anyway. Why she is so aware that she has the opportunity to become the best boss to herself that she has ever had, and doesn’t take that fact lightly. And Lastly…….. Why it is so important to understand in life what you truly are: Artist and Entrepreneur especially when you first start building your dream business.

Motivation is so important in every form of life and in todays episode of Join Up Dots we look at motivation and how to keep it, after a recent listener asked "David how do you keep motivated? I have many business failures which i started and then stopped. I just lose the motivation to keep going. Do you have any tips. Well here is what we consider are the best ways to keep yourself motivated, when the motivation is starting to depart. 1: Remind yourself of your goals. Usually before devoting time to any specific endeavor, we tend to make short- and long-term goals. Remember to keep your goals realistic, that way you wont be disheartened if you don't reach them. That doesn't mean you can't push and challenge yourself though, if you don't challenge yourself, then it's not really a goal. If you start to lose sight of your goals, then you may be less motivated than if you were always checking to see how much closer you are getting throughout the whole process. Keeping track of your goals and checking your progress can help keep you motivated day in and day out. 2: Make weekly checkpoints to track your progress. Everyone needs the motivation to see how they are keeping up with their goals if they want to stay motivated. If you see that you are on track or even excelling every time you check your progress, you will be motivated and happy that you are getting there. If you see that you are lagging on your goals, it may be the kick start you need to help get you back on track. 3: Make sure to reward yourself every time you achieve your weekly goals. This could be as simple as a bowl of ice cream after a long, hard week of working out or as rewarding as a trip to the spa for all your hard work. Whatever rewards will keep you going are the ones you should be giving yourself. 4: Give yourself breaks. Sometimes even the most determined people get overwhelmed. You may be burning yourself out, and a much-needed break might be just what you need. If it is a fitness goal, maybe take a three- or four-day rest instead of your normal one- or two-day rest. If it is at school, don't try to do all your work in one sitting, but stretch it out over the course of the day or week, if possible. 5: Don't be too hard on yourself. Everyone falls short sometimes. If you fail to meet your goals for the week, take it as a lesson. Try to complete your next target before time, so that you can use the saved time to complete the pending work. This way you stay right on schedule even if you have taken a hit. It's not always about how hard you hit, but how well you can take a hard hit and keep moving on. Don't dwell on failure; just accept it as a human occurrence, and continue working towards your goals. 6:Watch and read motivational stories or speeches. Everyone deserves a great pep talk every once in a while. Stay elevated by watching YouTube videos of inspirational moments so you can suddenly feel a new sense of motivation to keep striving. Here are just a few example of easily-found inspirational media: Mary Schmich's famous "Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)" speech. Almost any Hollywood sports movie. Much rap music - "rags to riches" is a common lyrical theme. Historical stories of bravery or courage (see: Jack Churchill, Audie Murphy, etc.)
