Devin Thorpe is a man who has a path similar to so many people in the world and certainly many of the guests of Join Up Dots.
He was on a path, that had been created out of study, education and hard work, leading him to perform as he says "The best job he’d ever had—as the Chief Financial Officer of the multinational food and beverage company MonaVie" until they let him go.
And upon those words "Sorry we don't require your services anymore" his life it seems became what truly it should have been at the beginning.
He and his wife ended up living in China for a year where he wrote "Your Mark On The World" and embarked on the career he’d always wanted yet hadn’t dared dream.
And that is what truly fascinates me.
Why does a man work tirelessly in his education, and his employment, but not allow this effort to take him to the land of his dreams.
The places where his heart, brain, enthusiasms, all come together and he wakes up excited every morning.
And now he is an author, advisor and Forbes contributor, and is a devoted full time to championing social good, writing about, advocating for and advising those who do good.
He travels extensively, sharing inspiring messages as a keynote speaker, and trainer.
So have the dots joined up naturally for him, or does he feel that he is now just starting the journey that is truly his?
And what would he say to his younger self if he could go back in time, do what he did, or change direction even earlier.
Well we are going to find out later, as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Devin Thorpe

It’s an absolute delight to have on the Join Up Dots free podcast interview, two ladies who literally bound around the world like some excited Labradors.
And believe me that might not sound like a compliment, but it certainly is.
As the two of them have had some huge setbacks in life, but haven’t allowed them to lose their spirit for life, and their desire to create adventure in their relationship.
After originally meeting in 2010 at a course in Sydney, called ‘The Quest for Truth’ it became evident that the quest for truth, was going to be linked with their love of travel.
A few years back, after leaving Australia, they entered into a business opportunity in Dubai, which of course they thought would be a good move, but turned out to be anything but.
Or so hey would have thought at the time, but as we see literally everyday on Join Up Dots, the darkest times in our lives become the moments where we find our true paths.
Left with literally nothing, they had to reassess what they wanted to do, and how they wanted to do it….with the caveat of making it as cheap as possible.
With a mere $300 in their pockets they decided to start travelling through house-sitting as a way to save money on the rent they could no longer afford.
They figured if they could save themselves rent and utility bills for six months or so, they could get back on our feet… and then go and do something they really wanted to do, which of course would involve travel.
But actually they had found it already, and now are the creators of the international housesitting community, where they share their knowledge and experience with anyone who has that desire for the nomadic lifestyle….which I think most of us have at one time or another.
So do they look back at Dubai, and go “Do you know that was truly the making of us…we wouldn’t change a thing!”
And do they believe that within all of us is a business that can be built purely on our passions, leading to a life that we love?
Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start Joining Up Dots with the one and only, Nat & Jodie

My guest today, on the Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a man who has worked tirelessly to achieve his dream in life
And as we know the dream is always hard to achieve, but sometimes it can be made so much harder by the people that you are surrounding yourself with.
Sometimes your path is hidden from you by the actions and words of others, and no matter how much you try to get going, they will place obstacles in your way.
Which is certainly true with todays guest, who after a terrible time passing through the education system, stumbled through over 30 jobs, looking for the thing that lights him up.
He knew he wanted to be in entertainment in some way through his whole life, but was always told that it could never happen.
He vividly remembers telling his mom that he wanted to be an actor and being told to “get real.”
He recalls being told by a school councillor that he should go to work at the local mill cause that was all he would ever amount to.
He was directed by not what he thought was possible, but what others were willing to believe.
He needed the support of others, who could help his dreams come true.
The kind of people that would allow the shoots of his dreams to start growing.
And he found those people, and their positive words started showing the path.
As he says “They were telling me I could do something bigger, that I was someone. They were true friends to me. I learned I could work for myself. They kept asking “what’s your dream?” I thought ‘well maybe I could make a movie if I had $1 million dollars.’ I had no clue how movies were made! I just wanted to make one. – Age 26 I started studying stand-up comedy thinking maybe this was a way to get a movie made.”
So has he made his dream come true, by delivering a movie to the world?
Has he found the path, that he knows is truly his?

Todays guest joining us on Join Up Dots is a man who is on a mission to change lives.
And it seems to me he is doing at the very spot where we need those lives to changed the most...the classroom.
Yes, he is a teacher who is focusing on a very simple principle but one that can make so much difference.
He believes that "A secure and trusting relationship between teacher and students is at the heart of positive discipline and a safe, productive classroom.
The positive effects of building teacher-student relationships impact all aspects of classroom life.
Students come to class and like to be there, they are more engaged in learning, they retain more of what they learn, and their creativity is unleashed. There are fewer behavior issues, lower dropout rates, and more harmony between class members."
And that period of our lives when we are going through the system to be pushed out into the real world, is the time when we should be inspired and encouraged to think big, be creative, and love our studies.
And now with a bestselling book "You've Gotta Connect: Building Relationships That Lead to Engaged Students, Productive Classrooms, and Higher Achievement" and more and more people taking an interest in his work it seems that this is a mission that we can all connect with at heart.
So when did he realise that its more about connecting and less about the content that he teaches that truly makes the difference?
And did he always have a desire to be a published author, or is he surprised to now see himself sitting proudly in the author section of "Amazon"?
Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, with the one and only Mr James Sturtevant.

My guest today, on the Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a man who like so many of my guests started on the path to his current success, due to a lack of satisfaction with his situation.
His whole life seems to me to have been built upon hustle, more than personal talents.
He started his adult hustle by commissioning into the US Navy, where he decided to go after the dream of being a nuclear engineer and struggled more than he thought possible, though still achieving his aim and grabbing the dream.
But there is a famous quote which states "Sometimes on the way to a dream you get lost and find a better one" and this certainly seems to be case here.
As whilst he was in the Navy, he realised that he wasn't going to see his family, was missing out on key events that he should have been experiencing, and just felt disconnected.
Now, as we will discuss on the show he has come full circle, and through developing online strategies, learning SEO and the wonderful world of Amazon, it looks like he has now found the true dream.
The dream that he didn't realise at the beginning was the right one for him.
So when he was in the Navy, did he enjoy much of it, or none of it?
And do the dots in his life join up like we see time and time again, or have they started much later in life?
Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, with the one and only Dave Chesson

My interview today on the Join Up Dots free business podcast is a lovely lady who was kind enough to allow me to spend time with her on her own show Freedom Academies.....Turbo Charge Your Success.
Now during our conversation it was clear to me that this was a lady that I needed to get on Join Up Dots, as she has a story that shows all the characteristics that we find in the succesfull.
She has motivation.
She has hustle
And alongside her business partner Laura West, a few years ago found themselves homeless
The business they ran together was going south and they were exhausted.
They had no option at all but to move into two rooms in the office.
They had a problem that most business owners have at one time or another.
They were very good at that they did, but nobody knew about it.
Thye couldnt get their talents out into the world.
They started researching business growth systems, high performance ‘gurus’, wealth creation experts and all the investment strategies they could get there hands on.
Within twelve months they had a property portfolio worth over $2,000,000 that they had bought with others people’s money. More importantly the income from that property was double the income from their business that they had spent years building up!
They also applied all the business knowledge they had gained, transformed their business and went on to sell it!
They did all of this while being homeless, using the leisure centre across the road to shower and working 80 hours per week.
They were at such a rock bottom that they had the ability to create huge freedom of choice in their lives.
So was it just that the dots joined up, the time became right for them to flourish?
Or was it more to do with the undertanding that upskilling your knowledge is the way to go.
Well let's find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, with the one and only property entrepreneur Kemi Egan

My guest on todays episode of the Join Up Dots free podcast interview, is a lady who wont let things in life get in the way of what she wants to achieve.
She is an amazing woman who overcame a near fatal car accident, chose to remove her left arm, became the US National Champion in the Paralympics, competed in the World Championships in New Zealand, and is now a brand-new mother.
That's not a bad start for any introduction.
But the key thing to this story, and is what we will delve into in great depth, is how most of the things may not occurred, if she hadn't realised that mentally she was holding herself back from what she could achieve.
As she says "I was in a car accident 17 years ago. So I had to always wear this sling and didn't have any motivation to move forward. My arm was paralyzed, a brachial plexus injury,"
She was intrigued and stimulated by here friends stories of running marathons, so set off to achieve the goal herself.
But the whole experience was one of pain and distress, as her paralyzed arm pulled down the entire left side of her body, causing knee pain and even whiplash.
It was like running with an anchor attached.
She began to realize that her paralyzed arm not only weighed her down physically, it was a metaphor for all that was holding her back from living life fully.
The anchor was weighing her down.
Keeping her in one position, and stopping her moving towards the future she craved.
So she realised that removing the arm, was going to be her saviour.
Cutting the ties with the past could very well be the best thing that she could do.
So she started considering amputation.
"I wasn't there before, I think, emotionally" she says "I knew it was going to be different. The outward appearance is very shocking (to people); it's different now. I used to be asked all the time, 'What happened to your arm?' when it was in a sling,"
Making the decision to undergo such a major surgery proved difficult, even though she knew intellectually it was the right choice.
Her solution? Set a series of athletic goals that would only be possible after the surgery.
Make the surgery the first step to achieving what she wants in life, and wow hasn't she done just that!
So, has the whole process been one that going back in time she would have done earlier?
And does she see that the power of the mind, truly outweighs the capabilities of the physical body?
Well lets find out, as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Tisa Cawthon

Today's guest joining us on the Join Up Dots podcast interview is Alison Pena, a lady who ever since she was 15 years old has been fascinated with how money and affluence has so much to do with our view of what’s possible.
In her own words she says "My dad was a 3rd generation Wall Street investment banker. My great-grandfather was one of White Weld & Co's founders. We lived in an apartment on Park Avenue. The family firm was sold to Merrill Lynch in 1978.
We regularly hosted influential financial and world leaders for dinner parties and social gatherings. I attended a well-heeled private all girls’ school, as you do when you’re part of that world.
But when I was 15, I began regularly leaving my white, wealthy, privileged world… and setting off on what can only be described of as “expeditions.”
Back then, it meant heading north of 96th Street (the northernmost boundary of my known world) into Harlem.
Until that point, my world was Park Avenue and bankers, Latin and piano lessons, nannies and au pairs.
And then I started making friends who showed me a whole other world.
I came from a world where anything was possible, because there was plenty of money. I could have any career. I could go to any school. I could shape my life into whatever I chose.
In contrast, my friends had different expectations. Different obligations. Different ideas about security. Different opportunities.
And a lot of that had to do with money.
This observation got me wondering… Why does money have so much to do with our view of what’s possible?
So I suppose the question is, does money have as much to do with confidence and mindset, or is it just a tool for making ideas happen?
Is it the key to attracting more money into our lives, not because of it directly, but because we can make things happen and go after it?
Well let’s bring onto the show to start joining up dots, as we discuss the words of Steve Jobs with the one and only Alison Pena
