Join Up Dots Podcast

Are you excited by what the world has to offer you on New Years eve? Well i guess you should be as its a time for new beginnings.

However in this episode of Join Up Dots, I share why I feel setting a goal because of the date, is not as valid an idea as starting a goal because you truly want to.

The motivation to achieve anything has to start within you, and if you are being forced into it you are prone to fail bigtime. So from myself the host of Join Up Dots, I just want to say a big "Happy New Year", thank you for listening to the show in ever increasing numbers and I look forward to sharing more stories, more insight, and a lot more motivation and laughs in the new year.

Have a good one and we will see each other again very soon - David

Starting a Business, Starting To Make Money, Starting The Dream - Its All Here Today

Today's show is almost the last one for 2017 and has a few varied and excellent questions from listeners across the world. This is the kind of stuff that really makes hosting a show like Join Up Dots a total delight to host. But the first question, is more of a review of the show, and an amazing insight to the vision that is the show and what we hope it all to become in the future. A great year is almost finished. 2017 has become a changing point for me. Here is my short story. I grew up in Ukraine but I’ve been dreaming to go abroad all my life. I thought about UK. I hadn’t gone to UK, but last year I came to Dubai. It was great event for me. I had worked for one year in the hotel and changed my job then. I worked in sales in Ukraine and I found same job here in Dubai. Now I am working in sales department of a big Real Estate Developer company. The interesting fact. My manager is an amazing British woman. And some brokers whom I work with, are British too. Some of them live in Dubai and work here, some of them live in UK but we are cooperating. It’s a quite interesting, isn’t it? I feel like all the dots started connecting and only now I can understand what Steve Jobs said in his speech in 2005 in Harvard. It’s true, we can’t connect the dots looking forward, we can only connect them looking backwards. But I want to say thanks to one more British person that I’ve met. This person is David Ralph. I’ve found his podcast recently and I listen to it every day, 2-3 episodes a day. He is doing a great job. He is really connecting the dots, all those dots between the people from different countries all over the world. And these amazing people are sharing their life experience in David’s program. I’d like to say thank you, David. I love your program! Merry Christmas to you and whole your family! Question Two Hello David and Join Up Dots, I have recently seen your page when it shares how you monetize Join Up Dots, which is great. This has led me to want to ask two questions if you would be so kind. Firstly, I see that you have a automobile business listed. Is this your business, or are you are partner? And secondly, I see a lot of people share their income statements on their websites. Why do you think they do this, and have you ever considered this to be something that you would like to do too?  - Adler Ling, Shanghai, China Question Three Join Up Dots Rocks - I listen everyday and tell all my colleagues to listen too. Your show is not like any other that I have heard. What is your favourite episode you have recorded - Osil Harket, Norwary Question Four Thanks for creating such a wonderful podcast. I came across it 2-3 weeks ago and love listening to many of your past episodes. I have been wanting to create an online business since around 2005. I think I first got the bug after listening to Tim Ferriss's audiobook of the 4 Hour work week. I also was listening to Internet business mastery, which then lead me to Pat Flynns podcast. My challenges are: How to really get started, which idea of my many I should go with, over coming my fear of failing. Maybe it's low self confidence, but I feel that I have failed at a lot of things in life and so I am or was afraid to really try to build an online business. I don't want to fail on my "dream". One thing that I dislike about other podcasts is that the  host eventually begins to self promote their products and courses and start sharing less and less of how or what to do. I feel that you don't  do this. So thank you. Other than wanting to ask you for help on being a mentor and getting me on the right path, I'd like to know how long was it from the time you thought about leaving your job to actually sending out your first podcast? What exactly were you doing? How did you know what you needed to do to set up your podcast? Did you set up a website before or after? If I were to do the same as you, what kind of costs would I be looking at to get started? You talk about all the hours and hard work that went into getting things going. What did those times look like, what were you doing? Last question, what's your favourite thing for breakfast? Thanks again for creating Join Up Dots, it's really inspired me to start taking action. PS. some of the buttons on your site are broken or not set up, fyi. Ryan.

Sales Techniques and Sales Closing Is So Hard, But Not With Michelle Weinstein

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is with a lady who knows how to turn no's into yes's. She knows how to turn maybes in sales. She knows how to turn struggling businesses into rocking and rolling money making machines, all by the power of pitching correctly. As she says " I am a time-tested entrepreneur who has the unique ability to help you immediately identify business strengths to create a unique plan of action. More importantly, I will help you zero in on the hidden trip wires that keep you from achieving your financial dreams." She has knocked down the doors and impressed CEO’s at many billion dollar companies. Her relentless pursuit towards buyers at Costco Wholesale earned her coveted shelf space that also led to national deals with The Vitamin Shoppe. Other current clients include the Washington Nationals and Tampa Bay Rays. Within in her inner circle are multi-seven figure entrepreneurs, famous comedians, professional athletes and coaches from the NFL, NBA, MLB & NHL. As a result of these amazing relationships and opportunities Michelle has honed a unique skill set that will help you develop the most important and valuable relationships. She will teach you how to open doors and meet people that you have always dreamed of meeting, but you never knew how to get to. That’s her genius. So was this process something that was born in her, or created by many years of hardship, struggle and learning on the coal face? And where do people go wrong - pitching to the wrong avatar, or not believing that they have the value that leads to the sales? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Michelle Weinstein.  Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Michelle Weinstein such as: Michelle shares the four letter word that makes all the difference to a new entrepreneur, and why it is the most important thing to learn. Michelle talks about why being a standup comedian is the hardest entrepreneurial  journey to take, and why they have to be used to failure every single night. However these failures are a gold mine that can lead to huge success. We discuss how she found the diamond in herself by working in bars as a young lady, and how she can now see those skills are exactly the same as the ones she uses today. and lastly…. Why your ability to be able to walk away from money sets out an amazingly powerful position to take, that actually can lead to more money.

Todays guest joining us on the Join Up Dots free podcast interview, is a man with a fascinating tale joining up many dots to where he is today. Spending the first nine years of his career like Maverick in Top Gun, he felt the need the need for speed, as an Air Force Pilot, before entering the corporate world to work for Abbott Laboratories and then Valassis. And he was on top form working for both companies, and was recognised as a top performer. Which is of course great, but underneath lurking in his passions and dreams, was a desire to go out on his own to start his own business. The old leap of faith was beckoning, but like so many people across the world, he had the desire but not the direction. He wanted to do his own thing, but was unsure what that thing was supposed to be. And as we see time and time again on Join Up Dots, that path can reveal itself at anytime, and this was certainly the case with todays guest. As fate would have it, a random conversation with a friend about the gum ball machines his family owned started it all off. That one conversation sparked an intrigue and planted the seeds for what would eventually become his business School Spirit Vending. But not before disappointment, frustration and the downturn in the economy in 2008 knocked his confidence for six. And then a knock on the door happened at his home, and the path got clearer. So what was it about that knock on the door, and the conversation that happened upon opening it,that really got the juices going? And does he now look back and think, “Man, the clues were floating around me all the time, I just couldn’t see them?” Well let’s bring onto the show to start joining up dots, as we discuss the words of Steve Jobs in todays Free podcast, with the one and only Matt Miller Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Matt such as: How he feels the speed of the group is determined by the speed of the leader, and he is aware that everyday he has to be on top form to inspire that momentum. How he often advises entrepreneurs that when you start a product be aware that you will end up in a 180 direction change down the line. How he remembers the time, that it first dawned him that he had achieved the tipping point in his life and he had now achieved the time freedom he craves. And lastly…. How he now knows exactly what his key skills are, and actively seeks for people who are excited to do the things that he can’t. Which powers his business forward massively.

In todays episode of Join Up Dots, your host David Ralph answers questions received from listeners across the world who are in different stages of growing a business that they can all their own. These range from happiness, to online construction to when is the right type time to leave your job. Big questions, require big answers....so lets start with question one: David, great show. What would be your free biggest tips to being happy? Donald, Manchester, England   Now question two....  Hi! I have been listening to your podcasts over the last few weeks and have been talking about wanting to start my own company for months. I've finally come up with an idea that I think really fits my background but is also something attainable and that I'd be interested in doing. I have no idea where to start... I really just have the idea I'm wanting to basically be a recruiter for candidates to go into TEFL programs and teach english abroad - I've been a recruiter for 3 years now and recently taught English in Thailand so I think this is the perfect thing for me to start! But i don't know where to begin. Any help or direction- much appreciated!! Lauren Miller Leading onto question three:  Hi David, loving the show. I loved the episode that you talked about burnout. It was really inspiring that you could be so open and honest with us. Following on from that are you happier now, as I would imagine that you are, as that is how you come across on the show - but perhaps the truth is very different. intrigued from Stellenbosch South Africa   and the last one   David, quick question. I have been working on a few online bits and bobs over the last few years and now have got myself into the position to quit my job and go full time. My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a a father, husband, entrepreneur, and the visionary behind iTREKKERS. He founded the company in 2014 after realizing that bringing together vetted professional captains and guides on one platform would help guarantee everyone a better experience in the outdoors. But what does that mean exactly? Well as he says “Driven by my passion for hiking and fishing and the unreliable and diverse experiences that I have had; iTrekkers has been born. iTrekkers concept is simple: We connect customers to amazing outdoor experience that will help make them advocates. In order to achieve this, we have developed – www.itrekkers.com, where customers will be able to search a city location (such as Tampa), pick the type of fishing Trek they want to do (inshore, nearshore or offshore) and the package / price combination they want, and voila! we provide you with a guide to book. Our booking process is simple, safe and secure. And, best of all, we guarantee our trips 100% customer satisfaction or your money back. “ The end goal is straight forward: They want all their customers to have the best chance of experiencing the great outdoors in the most pleasant and exciting way possible. Now this is an interesting concept for so many reasons, not least the mental aspect of building a business around something that is already out there? Isn’t someone else doing it already? How can I charge for something people can do for free anyway? Well our guest has ploughed through all the obstacles and now is seeing his business go from strength to strength. So when did the idea first come to him, and was it something that instantly took hold, or niggled away for many months before taking action? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Thomas Mulliez Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Thomas Mulliez such as: How he decided on the area that he was going to build a business in, and the steps that he took to start his new venture. Why Thomas felt the need to go and see a mentor, and how it managed him to see a totally different way of proceeding in the future. Thomas shares why he surrounds himself with greatest minds that he can hope to find, and what he does to hos own development. and lastly…. Why a terrible bachelor party first gave him the idea of starting how own business, but he still needed a push from his own company to tackle it head on.

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a man who when you first read his bio, you think....or at least I did "Is this true?" He starts with "I grew up with a tribe of Mayan Indians in a remote village in the highlands of Guatemala. I am also a helicopter and airplane pilot, an avid photographer, and taught high performance motorcycle riding/racing. " So this gives you one impression of todays Indiana Jones type guest, so let's give you another He’s an author, speaker, and an entrepreneurial adviser who can teach the world how to make an impact through thought leadership and how to turn their competitors into an asset.  His work has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, USA Today, INC. Magazine, and Forbes.  He is also a regular speaker not only for TEDx, but for Harvard, Adobe, and other international conferences and now is delivering to the world his fifth book, The Business Of Expertise: How Entrepreneurial Experts Convert Insight To Impact + Wealth teaches entrepreneurs how to elevate themselves and the world. In the book he discusses Five Early Tests for the Positioning of Your Expertise; Demonstrating Expertise; Not Demonstrating Expertise; How Expertise Unfolds" Which gives us a great framework for taking you guys onto the first steps of being an expert in your own field and rocking it bigtime. But what really shows the man is what he told me on email, and you can hear the passion bigtime "I’m very successful by most measures, but it always feels tentative to me. I see myself on the street some day if things don’t go my way, if I get lazy, if I have some bad luck. I’m hungry for more, and it drives me crazy. I wish I could relax and enjoy the success w/o being paranoid about it.   It feels like life throws weird twists and turns at you and it’s a matter of reimagining yourself in a different role. Saying “no” to most of those things so that you can say “hell, yes!!!!” to a few of them. Being grateful, disciplined, and eager. Now I am rambling" So where do people go wrong...not spending enough time on becoming an expert, or spending too long and never going out to prove it? And when did he realise where he should position himself on his own entrepreneurial journey? Well let's find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr David C Baker Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with David C Baker such as: David shares why he is still travelling across the world to be put on the spot week in and week out. He feels that he needs to sharpen his skills, by constantly being tested and this is the best way to not getting stupid. Why we all have a lack of confidence in our personal abilities at the beginning, and more often than not do not grow until the market starts seeing us as good. Its then that our own personal belief hits in. David shares how he started his own marketing firm, and how he severely underestimated  the amount of work that it took to get it off the ground. and lastly…. Why consultants are in so many ways scamming their company by simply asking the questions that the company should always know if they truly look within themselves.

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a man with a background in finance but a future that is 100% entrepreneurial. As a young man you could see that he was destined for a life dealing with numbers, but not where he has ended up. Leaving the University Of Florida after studying Economics he took a position with the accurate Advisory Group providing retirees and those planning their retirement with a range of financial planning services. He presented to countless families at presentation workshops on Social Security, 401k strategies, the In’s and Out’s of the brokerage world as well as many other related topics for individuals around the Tampa Bay Area for over 9 years until he decided to Found a side business “My Tax Reduction Blueprint” As he says “We don’t want our clients to incur any risk, so we perform all our work on a contingency basis. That means we only get paid if we are able to find savings and/or settlements for you! While most CPA’s are stuck looking at the rear-view mirror of your business, we focus on your windshield, creating current and future tax savings for you.” Now for many people this may sound like boring stuff that they trey to hide from as much as possible, but this show will be anything but. This will be a show about a man finding his path, by finding a solution to others problems. This will be a show about a man going it alone, and little by little building his company into a team of motivated financial advisers. This will be a show about a man, who no doubt will have struggled with the financial aspects of building his business as all entrepreneurs do. So why did he decide that this was what he wanted to do in his life, and is he as enthused about it now or can he see bigger goals to achieve? And is there one bit of simple advice that all our listeners to take on board that can make such a huge difference in their lives, when it comes to finance? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, with the one and only Travis Jennings.

Most Confidential Podcast Ever - I Am Beating Burnout Everyday And Now Share The Darkness That I Have Been Through

In today's episode your host David Ralph shares openly and frankly an issue that has affected him and thousands of people across the world everyday. Burnout and how the condition of burnout can creep on all of us without us knowing. During the week he received an email from a Dr who wanted to discuss with him his history of burnout after hearing about it on the show, and so he connected with them and shared openly. However during this conversation it became evident to him that the content would be most powerful by sharing it with his listeners. Which he has done in todays burnout episode of Join Up Dots. The Email Greetings David Ralph,  Can I start with saying ow refreshing, fun and truly unique your podcast is.   I always look forward to listening no matter who your guest might be.   I am Dr Ross Smiley, from the Burnout Process Clinic in New Zealand, and are undertaking a major review into the symptoms and treatment of corporate burnout across the world.   We are very interested into the reasons behind the dramatic increase in this problem and how to tackle it going forward.    We have heard you mention your own battle with this issue, so would very much appreciate connecting with you to discuss for our report.   We understand that you may not be willing to connect due to your workload, but if you could we would very much appreciate it   Dr Ross Smiley.     So do you have feelings that aren't usually feelings that lie within you?   Are you feeling like no matter what you do in your life then its not good enough?   Do you feel that you just want to close your eyes and sleep, even if its in the middle of the day?   Well if that is the case, then this burnout episode should be something that you plug into your ears as it could make all the difference.

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a lady who has been wowing the theatre world in London's West End and rocking arenas all over the world for the last few years. During her 25 years in the industry, she has lived and worked all over the world, first starting as an entertainer at Sunwing performing with dance bands, soul, jazz, pop and cover bands, to finally landing bigtime in rock music. But it hasnt been instant success and for many years she worked as a backing singer for many of  Sweden's most popular singers, dreaming of the time that she could push them out of the spotlight and truly show what she could do. On February 2, 2008, she found the door that could allow her talent to shine big-time when she won the Swedish talent show West End Star onTV. The prize for winning was the leading role as "Lady of the Lake" in the London West End production of the Monty Python musical Spamalot. She moved to London to play the lead, which at that time was the biggest role played by a Swedish performer in the West End for a very long time, and made over 500 performances In July of that year she was back in Sweden leaving the London stage for a while, and performed a song at the popular Swedish television show Allsång på Skansen, where she was approached by the BBC to compete in the UK Eurovision selection event; she declined the offer. But this is not just the story of a lady working hard and getting a break in the business, as today's guest is also someone who loves to give back and entertain audiences that perhaps are not her target audience, such as appearing in Afghanistan, Kosovo, Liberia and Mali for the Swedish Armed Forces. So has this always been a passion, even as a small girl, or did she just find something that she could do very well? And what has the been the hardest part, the struggle to get there, or to stay there? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Nina Soderquist. Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Nina Soderquist such as: How she looks back she can clearly see the dots joining up her life, and loves the fact that her future is a walk into the unknown. Scary sometimes but something that she relishes. Why she wishes that she had got a better manager in the early days of her life, as her journey to success would have been so much shorter. How she listens to her own songs, and sometimes appreciates them, but struggles to get past the critic in her. She allows the audience to show her what is good or not. and lastly…. Why she rarely sings away from the stages of the world, and has never ever done karaoke in her life.....shock!!!

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is with a lady who has been creating her success from the ground up in amazing effect. Starting her journey around the same time that Join Up Dots launched, she has been out there every day, hustling, upskilling and sharing her talents with the world She is the President & CEO of Marketing to Crush Your Competitors, is also an Online Business Strategist, Professional Speaker, Author and Podcaster. As a former elite athlete, including playing in the PanAm games, and a former physiotherapist helping her clients get to their optimum health, she is a genius at mapping out a strategic path to victory. But to be honest, you can throw all the big words in the world in her direction and it will never show the simple fact, that she cares. She cares about her business. She cares massively about her clients. She cares about making the most of each day. And that is part of what we will talk about today....loving something so much that your bring into the world something that you couldn't imagine at the beginning So is her business where it is because of the struggles she has overcome or the successes that came easily? And what is the biggest issue that her clients bring to her, stopping them from achieving the same success? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Fabienne Raphael Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Fabienne Raphael such as: Why Fabienne has made the decision to change their name of her podcast, and what that means to her audience. Fabienne shares how she wasn't born to be an entrepreneur, but was willing to hustle. develop and make mistakes until she could 100% class herself as one. Why so many people make the mistake of seeing the small shoots of financial reward start to grow, and then going and starting something else. Why we should make more effort to get out and see real people in our business. You can't develop as quickly if you just stay in front of your computer all the time. and lastly…. How a newborn has allowed her to become uber focused on the tasks that will grow her business massively.

Coming originally from Dallas, but now living blissfully on several acres of Pennsylvania countryside, todays guest knows a thing or two about living great, feeling great, and doing things naturally. Over the last few years he has worked enlightening people, as to how they can in his words” take back their power in the areas in which they give it away. “ Which may not mean much to you at the moment, but will certainly form the basis of our interview today. He is regularly featured on television and radio where he shares his direct experiences, as to how we can make living a healthier lifestyle, and easy and fun too! It is the simple no nonsense yet basic everyday living approach to his work, which has created a hugely loyal following over the years. And with a series of publications that really tackle the pain points of people lives, such as “Acne Free in 3 Days: How I Cleared my Acne in Only 3 Days ” and “Weight Loss By The Numbers” selling in large numbers he is sought after as the man to help. And its not a surprise as someone who suffered as a young man with weight issues, he is in a prime position to speak from experience. So why is it if you can cure acne in three days, that so many teenagers and young adults suffer with this issue again and again. And what was the point in his own up bringing when he realised that he had to do something about getting into shape? Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, with the one and only Mr Chris Gibson. Show Highlights During the episode we discussed such weighty topics such as: Why it is so important to get yourself mentally right before you start tackling the physical health we all crave. How he remembers throwing a Doctors prescription away and that was the moment that he started taking control of his destiny. Why it is so important to slow down and consider every decision that we make each day, to start making a positive change in our lives. If you are in a job that is making you unhappy then you need to ask yourself “Why is it doing this to me?” and try to resolve the problem not just accept it. And lastly….. How you don’t need to be an expert in everything nowadays, but you do need to know how to find the people that are.

In todays episode of Join Up Dots, David Ralph shares three different stories from three listeners who are building their dream lives and all are struggling in one way or another to make the next step to where they want to be. We get more and more questions from listeners who are listening to the show and are inspired by the content and want more and more from life. So let's start with the first question, which was received in our FB group from a lovely lady in America, who preferred not to be names in case her boss heard the show. So in this episode we will call her Derek..... "Hi David, Why do I have zero motivation at work!? Please don’t share this on the podcast with my name but I’m curious if you ever felt at your past life job that you just couldn’t give a fuck about the job at hand? I come in excited to start the day coming off of your podcast and then I get here and turn to absolute mush. Did you have days like that? I feel like it’s bleeding into my desire to get out in that it’s just completely draining me." You will hear the answer to this question on the show as you would expect from a top ranked podcast. The second question was posed from a guy, who knows what he wants to do, and knows how to do it, but is holding himself back from going full time. "Hey David, thanks so much for personally getting in touch. I've just realised you did, so apologies for not getting back to you. I'm from Bath, in good old Blighty like yourself. Thankyou for taking a moment to lend me your ear. In answer to your question, what is my biggest issue I have to reply, in a word...FEAR! I made the decision some time ago to change course in my career before reaching the age of 40 to pursue my love of photography. It's something that always consumes my thoughts and heart but until recently not something I thought I should develop on a freelance basis. Well, that changed when in my current job as a gardener I started to lose interest and a new manager appeared in the last 5 months and unfortunately we don't see eye to eye (a little similar to your origin story I think!) So, after 15 years in that career (and my back and knees are getting a bit knackered!) I thought, this is the perfect time to switch it all up again for the new decade of my life. I've now decided to prepare myself, the finances and inform family members of my decision to go freelance and to commit full time to taking photos - I've had some success in the past doing it in my spare time and appeared in a few newspapers, commercial work and recently won a competition on the Expedia/Trover website where the prize was a £1000 holiday. I love shooting events, festivals and adore landscape photography especially if I can get to work with outdoor and travel brands. I think I'm ready, but, as I mentioned before I'm scared. Fear has grabbed me, it's the great unknown and my knees are a knocking! Just can't seem to leave the comfort of a regular job and step into a world of freelance even though I'm sure I can do it and have a much more fulfilling life, just as you discovered when you found your true calling. Apologies for the lengthy ramble, though it would be awesome to get your insight and advice on how to not be too much of a yellow belly and confront this fear! Wayne Farrell, UK. Now for our last question we bring onto the show a lovely lady who has been a friend of Join Up Dots since the early days, and through listening to the show changed her life dramatically. But now that dramatic phase has become a little bit boring. So what do you do when life becomes humdrum? Do you do more and more to keep it exciting, or sit back and focus on what is brilliant in your life? Well as you can guess, we will answer that question on the show...and its a good one that connects all the others spoken about in todays episode. "Hi all! Just wanted to post an update and ask a general sort of question. I’ve been teaching a crazy amount of in person English classes since I got here, but am looking into teaching online. I can make dollars again and save on my commute which would be great. Outside of that I am honestly not sure what my long term plans are at the moment. Lately I have been feeling so much pressure to travel and even explore Prague with any free time I have but also feeling like I need to be studying grammar and teaching methodology. This has left me feeling a bit overwhelmed and slightly paralyzed. Truth is, as I mentioned I don’t know what my long term plans are. I know I don’t want to move back to America, but outside of that I am feeling a giant question mark. When I try to think about what I want to do I truly don’t know outside of travel. Have any of oh found ways to ease up the mental stress and pressure you tend to create for yourself in these situations? That feeling of I should be doing more all the time?....Megan, Czechoslovakia"

Selling Expert Kayvon Kay Gives The Number One Advice For BIG SALES!

Todays guest joining us on the show has over the past 19 years, he has helped 1000+ coaches, consultants, service providers, and entrepreneurs master the fundamentals of sales and close more High-Ticket sales over the phone. He is known as the “The One Call Closer,” and is one of the most recognized and in-demand sales trainers in the high-ticket space. The tactics and ideas that he uses in his One Call-Closer private training are techniques that took him 20 years to develop and that less than 1% of the population even know about. These techniques are also derived from him spending over 10,000 hours on sales and business trainings, courses, and seminars. Now that sounds amazing, and of course we all will be thinking that he was born with this talent. But in fact his journey to becoming a successful sales trainer didn’t happen overnight nor was it easy. He went through a lot to get to where he is today. He started his passion for selling at the young age of 13 where he got his first sales job as a junior sales assistant at the local furniture store. It was from that experience that he wanted to pursue a passion for selling and started this never-ending pursuit of sales improvement. Up until today, he’s read over 396 sales books and has spent over $128,563 on sales trainings and seminars. During his time at college, the Dean of Special Resources told him that he should drop out of school because of his diagnosed struggles with ADD/ADHD. It wasn’t the first time he was told to give up and quit and it will not be his last. However, that didn’t affect him and he wasn’t willing to give up. And that is always the key to success, persistence outworks talent, skills and anything else you think is holding you back from your future. So what is it about selling that lights him up inside, when most people struggle with this bigtime. And where do we go wrong, blinking at the pivotal moment of quoting our price, or something else? Well let's find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Kayvon Kay Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Kayvon Kay such as: Kayvon share his belief that there is no single path to success, and everybody has to create the path that is right for them if it is truly going to succeed. Kayvon shares how so many people get confused with the systems against the strategies. Use the webinars, funnels, an email optins to create a deeper connection with your clients before you ever hope to sell. We discuss Kayvons childhood, and how his fathers advice could have held him back from the future that was waiting for him. Thank god he ignored him! and lastly…. We discuss how Kayvon spent $125,000 on self development and still failed - the reason was he hadn't proved himself to anyone, not least himself.

Creativity comes in many forms.

And in todays episode our guest shows how he has blended several creative areas into one rocking a rolling business.

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is an interesting guy for sure. They call him the LINGO guy (which will make more sense shortly) and has been the go-to portrait photographer for an exclusive clientele for 30+ years. His portraits have appeared on The Oprah Show, CBS News, in “O” Magazine, People Magazine and New York Family Magazine. Now if you think this is a guy who just takes amazing snaps then think again as he says “While the three career roles I play as photographer, speaker, and coach may seem diverse, they actually have one thing in common. It is the essence of being a witness. The sparkle coming alive in a child’s eyes, a small business owner making a shift in their way of thinking or an entire audience being inspired. I am motivated by the role I play in bringing that response forward and grateful for being a part of someone else’s aliveness.” Which means that through his trained eyes, he uses his honed intuition to see and sense, helping to businesses stand out, attract their ideal customers, and create brand loyalty that supersedes price. Which is fascinating to us at Join Up Dots, as with an ever increasing crowd battling it out online, how do you get your creativity, vision and passion to shine out and attract customer like magic? Well through his book, LINGO: He teaches us all to “Discover Your Ideal Customer’s Secret Language and Make Your Business Irresistible” Powerful stuff and the kind of content I dont think we have had on Join Up Dots before. He is also the host of the popular business podcast Creative Warriors and a featured speaker on The Moth, and with a social media audience of more than 100,000 seems to be what the world is looking for. So what made him get our his camera and start taking photos in the first place? And when did he realise that it wasnt just an image that he was creating, but someones future every time the shutter clicked? Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, with the one and only Mr Jeffrey Shaw Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Jeffrey Shaw such as: Why Jeffrey has learnt that stepping into your greatness doesnt always translate across the world, and how he meanders around it to ensure his clients grow bigger than they could hope for. Jeffrey shares how he knew as a youngster that he was very different from his father and his brothers, and can now see how it placed him where he is today. Why so many people need to make space in their lives to allow themselves to provide the value to their clients. Although they need to be shown that its possible. and lastly…. Jeffrey shares a brilliant image for life……life is like a game of twister. It doesnt matter if you can’t find the next dot to place your hand, someone will fall and your space will become visible.

Todays guest on Join Up Dots is going to give us a different perspective to a story which we have already told back on a previous episode of Join Up Dots. His girlfriend and business partner Julie Gohring, came on the show on episode 330, and told us how together with todays guest she has created a life splashing around happily on the beaches of Costa Rica. But it isn’t all about having great fun and the life that he wants. Yes, he is passionate about using fitness and health to enrich peoples lives. As he says “I’ve been an athlete my entire life which has given me a unique set of tools to educate and motivate others to live healthier, fitter and more joyous lives. I love training on the beach and getting after it in the gym. Good nutrition (most of the time) solid recovery, and a little mindfulness practice round out my core beliefs. Surfing lights me up inside and motivates me to eat well, train hard, and stay well rested. I believe we all can find that activity that keeps us active and puts a smile on our face. And i’m here to help you discover it for yourself.” But this isn’t a tale of someone just playing to their strengths and it all comes together effortlessly. This is a story of someone making big decisions, and tackling his own mind chatter head on, as he transitioned from San Francisco and paradise, and a life that looks too good to be true. So how did he free himself from the naysayers, and doom mongers that will have thought “You can’t have a life on the beach…..that is what vacations are for, not work?” And does he see the beach as the ultimate place for building a business based on your passions, just for the fact that if you can do it there you will believe you can do it anywhere? Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, with the one and only Mr Nick Holt Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics such as: How he loves the ability to provide accountability tools to clients across the world, monitoring their progress and setting targets from a far. How his parents took years to really understand that he wasn’t just drinking beer and splashing around on the beach today, and actually is building a business, and one that he loves. How he battled massively with the naysayers who couldn’t understand why he would want to move to a foreign country and start his life again. Why it is so important to realise that the stars are never going to a line in the sky, but you can reach up and a line them up yourself by your own efforts. And lastly….. How he recalls the famous Mark Twain approach to the secret of getting ahead in life “Is just getting started” and buys into it totally.

Todays episode is a follow from last Fridays episode of Join Up Dots, where we answered some listener questions. Jenny Kimble and Jorge Uribe both wrote to the show asking for advice, as both wanted to build their own businesses but didn't know how to start. So asked these questions: Hi David and friends! I am literally listening to you most recent podcast right now, I love it and all of your other ones are so inspiring as well. I need help please! I am an artist, and I want to be an artist full time or have a shop or something that I can do that is creative,  where I can paint all day and sell my work. I have been evolving with my art and I feel that i know who I am as an artist and I continue to grow. My full time job is very draining and stressful and I sit in an office all day and people that come in are 90% rude to me all day long. My son and husband and I are living with my mom ...my husband can't work due to many health reasons and we are in a big time rut. It's making me mean and cranky and depressed and I dont want to be that person ..to my family especially.  You said to just make it work and change your life...but i just need a little advice or something to get it going. I'm willing  to do anything to be happier for myself and my family. Help! (Please ♡) thank you! ~Jenny Kimble~ Well in today's episode we follow on from what we advised due to Jenny sending us a follow up email, discussing the progress that she made when she advised us Hi David! Listened to you show today where you read my email and gave me great advise! Thank you so much. I really appreciate everything you said and will definitely be taking your advise and using it very soon I also have listened to the podcast you sent me about the amazing lady who makes the framed quotes to make a living. It was great! Funny enough, a few days ago a friend of mine quit her job (same place as me) and as a going away gift I painted her a small canvas with a sarcastic remark that a few of us in the office as friends said to each other a lot, and it was kind of an inside joke. She liked it so much and the girls thought it was so funny that they encouraged me to start the etsy shop where id sell sarcastic, vulgar, funny and nice little canvases with funny quotes on them. The next day, another friend of mine said I should do something similar and I took it as a sign to maybe just pursue it and see what happens. i have also looked into Amazon. I will say that i am going to cancel my gym membership (since i've only gone three times lol ) and will use that money to get an amazon membership or a personal website. Just wanted to keep you updated! Thanks again for your support and I will definitely be in touch! ♡Jenny♡ And now for Jorge Uribe, who first connected with us by saying: I hope everything is great. I love your show! I just started to listen to podcasts about 2 months ago because I was looking for a way to not get bored at my cubicle. That is how I found Join Up the Dots and even though my native language is not English, let alone that for me the British accent is more difficult to understand, I got so engaged with your show that I can't stop listening to it. I have been dreaming of having my own business since I was a kid, the funny thing is that I have never gone that way in my life. I am born and raised in Peru and about 5 years ago I was getting bored with my job and I thought that I should try to challenge myself and pursue an MBA abroad.   That is how I  came to Canada, where I am currently living and working. After finishing my MBA last year, I tried to get a job in my field, a task that ended up being very difficult. I couldn't get any job offer in my field and I was running out of money so  I had to be creative and do something to earn some cash. I was doing some temporal jobs where I had to do about anything, even whipping floors. In the meantime, I kept applying to different positions and one day I saw a job posting to do administrative work, I thought that I could leverage my knowledge of working with MS Office and decided to apply. Fortunately, I got the job and after 2 months, due to good performance, I got hired for a full-time position there. The salary just allows me to survive, I cannot save money, but at least I can eat and pay my bills. The thing is that I still have the same dream of creating a business, I don't see myself working all my life for someone. I want to create jobs and opportunities for other people and I, of course, want to own my time and life. I am a hardworking individual and don't care if I have to work 80 or more hours per week in something I like doing. I am very creative, I have good ideas all the time, but my problem is that I don't know how to execute and take action, maybe because I have been working for someone so long. The reason for me to write to you is because, as I commented, I listen to your show every single day and I heard you saying that you can help people like me to unleash the entrepreneur inside. I don't know where to start, what to do or which of my ideas I should pursue and unfortunately I don't have money to invest because I spent my life savings in my master degree. I read, breath and eat business information every day and I am very passionate about entrepreneurship and small businesses. I hope you don't find this email so long and please excuse my bad English, but it was hard to comprise all my story here because there was even more information I wanted to share. I also hope this email is part of my first step to take action as the call you did to one of your favorite shows some years ago where you tell the host your feeling about his show and your desire to become an entrepreneur. It would be great to look back and found this email and see my entrepreneurial journey with proud as you see yours now. Since advising him on the show, he has now got the thoughts rushing around his brain which he shared in this response What you mentioned about me of being a niche, is just great! Among the ideas that I have been evaluating there is one that is very similar to what you mentioned in the show. I would love to help people from South America to improve their education and at the same time to experiment what living abroad is. Some friends from Peru, have been asking me about my experience here, and one of them even told me that she wanted to study here in Canada. That's when I thought I could create some kind of consulting service. Some days passed by and I told her that I could help her, I didn't tell her I was going to do it for money, just as a friend, but she told me that she had new challenges at work and she was going to focus on that now. What I thought could have been my first customer ended up to be just an illusion. That is why I didn't continue developing the idea but now that you mentioned it, I think there could be something there.  I still have some doubts about how to start. I know that if I want to create a business using the internet I have to create an online presence. Here is where I get lost, should I create a blog, podcast, website, YouTube channel and how can I start bringing  people. And what about the legal aspects, should I incorporate, open a sole proprietorship? or should I just start with an online presence until I get customers and see if it works. The doubt is also because I don't think that a business can be taken seriously by customers if it is not a legal entity.  I know you are busy and I don't want to monopolize your time with so many questions but any thought you might have about this is very appreciated.  Again thank you for your help. I listen to your show every day but I never imagined that I was going to be part of one. I am extremely grateful for that.  So are you ready to follow suit and start your own business?
