Entrepreneur is a word that so many people like to attach to themselves, but what does it really mean?
Todays guest, joining us on the Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a traveling entrepreneur who is making his own life everyday.
And what really makes me love hosting a show like Join Up Dots, as in his own way he is part of my story….my dots.
When I started getting the research together and reading about him, I thought “Wow, I know this man already. I have been telling his story to friends and colleagues for the last few years….he was one of my inspirations”
AJ Leon is a man who went against all the rules, when he found himself at a crossroads in life.
He had followed the path most expected, getting a good job, earning great money, and living a life that spelt Success with a capital S.
But just when things couldn’t get any better, and a big promotion was on the cards he turned full circle and went in a direction that is 100% him.
He took the first steps to finding his unique self.
And the rest as they say is history.
As he travels around the world with his entrepreneur wife, he applies his great philosophy to life, which also forms the name of his website “the Pursuit of Everything.”
He tries to live his life with intention, do work that truly matters, devote time working on projects that benefit those less fortunate than himself, and to give more than he gets.
Well let’s bring onto the show to start joining up dots, as we discuss the words of Steve Jobs in todays Free podcast, with the one and only AJ Leon.
During the episode we discussed such weighty topics such as:
How in life you have to keep on swinging before you ever hope to hit a home run, and its the misses that fine tune for when you hit big!
How his wife to be wasn’t upset that he had quit his job three days before getting married, but instead was simply pleased to have him back. She had missed the man that she had fallen in love with.
How he wrote down a two year plan of how he wanted his life to be, and used it as the bible to how he would operate from that point onwards.
How he believes that many people could travel with freedom, but you have to decide on how much adventure you are able to deal with…he has a very high adventure level.
How his career advisor told him that he shouldn’t think of going into business, as he should think about being a mechanic instead…nothing wrong with mechanics but shame on you Miss Mitchell!!!

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is an man who has been in sales and publication since back in 1990. Starting his career as the sales manager for Self Magazine he worked for nearly a decade, in the world of publishing and sales via stints in Elle magazine, W Magazine and other such works. And through this period of work, you can see the first steps towards where he is today, and more importantly want is taking up his time. He is known as the Pitch Whisperer, who helps business owners go from invisible to irresistible with an elevator pitch. He teaches individuals, businesses and conferences how to build the momentum in gaining sales What he does is translate the left brain, technical speak into right brain imagination speak (where all selling happens) so people can present their offerings with a new-found confidence. The result is that its easier for the right people to say,"Yes" and share their vision with the same excitement. He achieves this with the 3C’s, making sure... 1) Their CONFIDENCE is at a maximum via incredible preparation 2) They have emotional storytelling skills for CONNECTIONS that are memorable and compelling 3) They're asking for a COMMITMENT that is irresistible. So did he always have the belief and understanding that storytelling is such a powerful component of selling a product or service? And when he looks back at his earlier career in sales and publishing, was this the key to where he is today? Did he need to operate in this area to develop the skills that he has today? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, with the one and only Mr John Livesay Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with John Livesay such as: John tells the story of how his Dad took a risk in his life, leaving his job to follow his passions and what an inspiration that was to him. We discuss how it is so easy to be knocked off path by comparing yourself to the success of others. Just get your head down and do the work How he was told by many people to go off and build his own brand, but was reluctant until finally taking the plunge and never looking back and lastly…. Why John is a great believer in the slide of faith to build income whilst you are still in employment. Dont burn all your bridges, but just set it on fire once you are established.

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a lady who is on a mission to help the world dream big, dream bold and then go out and make it happen. As she says ” I’m a dreamer and a doer, and if you have a dream, it’s mine to help make yours come true. I love stories. The true ones are the best, because they’re more exciting than fiction. I love helping write the stories of women like you who want more out of life than feeling like you’re not living up to your potential as an entrepreneur.” And she is certainly living up to the mantle of a been there entrepreneur, as after studying Creative Writing at Oxford University, and then gaining an MA in Communication at Baylor University, who history is littered with startups and interesting business ideas. It’s not often that someone starts a business based around making natural home and cleaning products, before become a breeder of high quality Arabian horses, before helping others across the world live a life that is brights, full of passion and their own. And that is what she is doing now, as alongside her previous still running businesses she spends her days envisioning, going after and accomplishing her desires and helping others do the same. A helper by nature, she has dedicated her skills as a mentor and public speaker to help women live their dream of leaving their day jobs to start their own business. And with her online platform Life With Passion, she is surrounding herself with more and more success stories of ladies who have now done just that. So where do people go wrong? Not dreaming big enough, or simply not starting? And if she could go back in time and change any of her own entrepreneurial ventures would she? Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Christine McAlister Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Christine McAlister such as: Why she was so aware of where she wanted to focus her passions as a young lady, and the steps she took to make sure her dreams came true, even though it took her further away from her initial dream. Why she almost let her passion for horses be taken from her in her twenties due to listening advice of others, which is a lesson that she holds true to today. Never let someone else’s ideas become the ones that you live by. Why Christine made the decision to hire a coach and how she then saw massive improvements in her life and the opportunities in her business. and lastly…. Why being Bossy is in so many ways a key part her story, even though for many years she fought against it.

Kavit Hara is todays guest on the Join Up Dots free podcast interview is an entrepreneur grounded in the age-old marketing principles, but using the latest technology advances to help small businesses thrive online. I know that this sounds very impressive, but in a nutshell today’s guest is a master at helping people finding their passions and creating thriving businesses based on those passions. That’s the dream really isn’t it. But the fascinating thing about this guy is although he now provides the fast-track to business success, he has been on an amazing journey to find those skills himself. Over a decade ago, he was determined to become the worlds best tabla player. Now if you don’t know what this is, imagine an Indian musician kneeling before two, what I would call bongos, then that gives you an understanding of what he played. And he played them very well, even performing with legends such Sir Paul McCartney, Jimmy Page, and Donovan to name just three. But this is a very niche instrument to play, and as a tabla player, he went through the ups and downs of the typical struggling musicians life. For years he faced struggles to find opportunities to perform, create a band, record, gig and tour. And as he says “Not only was this an outer battle, it was an inner battle too. Struggling with self-confidence and a lack of marketing know-how, things never looked up.” And this is the key thing to everything. You can have the greatest product in the world, but if nobody finds out about it then you are dead in the water. So how did he decide that there was a gap in his knowledge, that probably wasn’t the most obvious gap for a table player to realise he needed to fill? And is there a common problem that he now sees time and time again with wannabe entrepreneurs? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Kavit Hara Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Kavit Haria such as: How as long as you are willing to get up and keep on going then there isn’t failure in life, everything is just learning. Why most people managing a virtual team should fix clear goals and deadlines, but remain focused on the personal side of the team. Why none of us should wait until its time for retirement before looking for the dream-life, instead let’s focus on a whole life of amazing experiences. Why you shouldn’t subscribe to every newsletter you can at the beginning of your business , instead stay focused on just one or two high profile experts. And lastly…. Why he feels that entrepreneurs are the true change creators in the world, not the politicians, and how he wants to make big change himself.

How many times in your life do you look for the excitement and adventure?
Perhaps on you vacations at Disney World you actively seek out the biggest roller coasters for the scary thrill.
But what about in your normal life?
Well if you are like most people then the last thing you do is try to shake things up and make things exciting and different.
Well just this week, I spent a lovely day travelling around my local seaside town with the family trying to complete a treasure hunt.
It was simple, it was cheap and it was a total break from the norm.
I could have said, "No I have work to do actually", "I could have said "I rather would not!"
But instead it was a "Yes, sounds good" and it was good.
I set out my stall to have a good time and I did.
And that is the key message to this show.
By jumping in feet first and doing stuff, without trying to make things perfect or fully realised we get a real gift in our lives.
As lets be honest, more often than not it won't ever be any better anyway.
Life is more often than not about preparing to make things perfect in our lives, but actually what we get is a mild, diluted version of the Mini Adventure of what occurs when we leap.
So in this episode we talk at depth about going for the quick gains in our life.
We talk about just saying "Yes" and doing your best in life.
And I promise you, you will be amazed at the results of that you get.
Ready for the challenge?

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired business podcast Join Up Dots is a man whose official bio states as an "international business transformation expert who specializes in turning around manufacturing, technology and service business's. His ability to consistently and quickly drive triple-digit growth is the result of his unique leadership style, breadth of experience and expertise in Lean Manufacturing methodologies." Sounds great, but of course on Join Up Dots we want to know more about how he got himself into this position. Where did he poistion himself straight from school to start the journey to where he is today. And this is an interesting one, as unlike most people who appear on the show, he hasn't jumped from role to role building up experience for many different companies and employers. Instead our guest today has been with the same company for over 21 years. Since 1996 he has been a professional interim manager normally acting in the role of Ops Director or MD for the Business Turnaround Group. where he goes into manufacturing/technology & service businesses that are under performing and turns them around. And now his has joined with Norwegian Serial Entrepreneur Erlend Bakke to bring to the world his new book 90 days to profit, which brings about all his learning's that have worked wonders for companies across the world. And what would be the key thing that someone could to today to make their business start going in the right direction? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Steve Shoulder Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with such as: Why Steve spends so much of his time dealing with people in business who are unwilling to change, and what he does to overcome the objections. How Steve found his latest business partner, and the steps he took to make sure that it was a rewarding partnership that works Why Steve created the content for his new book to be as entertaining as it is educational, and why he thinks that this is the way that learning should always be. and lastly…. We bring to the world the amazing story of why a group of Northern Englishman felt the need to hang a monkey after believing that he was a french spy....yes seriously.

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is an a lady who calls herself a global storyteller, metaphysician and entrepreneur. As she says "I’m truly devoted to teaching people how to follow their dreams, manifesting a life they love through the spirit of GIVING. My life has been filled with character-building moments over the years to get me to where I am today. I went from being a divorcee living out of a suitcase with two small children, to now living a life of FINANCIAL FREEDOM and ABUNDANCE with the love of my LIFE. My mission is to empower you to create a life you deserve filled with love, abundance and GIVING." Wow, positive statements to start Join Up Dots are always a great way to go. So in 2010, she made the decision to leave her first marriage. Within one year of learning the law of attraction, she finally found the gumption to ask for a divorce. After 18 months of waiting for her family home to sell she left a tumultuous 7-year marriage with only her suitcases and her two little boys with over $50,000 worth of debt. She didn’t know where she was going to live or how she was going to eat. Meanwhile, she had started her company 18 months’ prior there was only small revenue coming in. Although, her new freedom felt empowering, she felt alone and scared about how she was going to take care of herself and her children. So how did she do it? How did she clear $50,000 of debt, find her way, and then start getting noticed to build the success that she wanted so badly? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Janét Aizenstros Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Janét Aizenstros such as: Why the power of giving is such a big part of her life, and why it has always been the case even when things were tough for her financially. How she came to the realisation that she was holding onto childhood issues that needed to be resolved before she could move forward.

This is a magic episode for sure. If you listen to Join Up Dots on a daily basis then you will hear me wax lyrical when introducing a guest as I certainly like to do my research, but todays show is different. When my guest connected with us to request a place on the show, he hit me with this little tale and I didn’t think i could out do this little lot. So in his own words “On the day I turned 30 years old I looked around me and I knew things had to change. I looked up at the barbed wire toped concrete walls of the maximum security prison I had called home for the last 2 years and I wondered where everything had gone so wrong. Only a few years earlier life had been about fast cars, women and parties. I was born in England but schooled and grew up in Johannesburg in South Africa. I had a career in television that put me in peoples living rooms on a daily basis. I was a household name and people would ask me for my autograph when they saw me out and about. The choices I made led me to class A drug addiction and the results pulled the carpet from under my feet. Everything was gone within 3 months and I found myself living as a homeless man in one of the most dangerous cities in the world, Johannesburg. Drugs lead to crime and crime leads to prison. After 9 months awaiting trail I escaped from prison. Two weeks later I was re-arrested buying drugs on the street. I was sentenced as a security risk prisoner and given 3 years without parol in a maximum security prison. Today things look very different and I live a happy and peaceful life with my wife Colette and my daughter Kristen. I run a number of successful online businesses that pay my bills, I have authored a book due for release in June and I am able to enjoy a balance in life through my work as a psychotherapist. “ Wow , what a story, but believe me there is so much more to the guys tale, the we could literally go three or four episodes and still not touch the surface. So looking back on his life as a famous TV magician, did he find it easier to to get to the top, than he has since getting out of prison and changing direction? Or was that just the starting point to what he would call his “Sweetspot”…..has he now found the path that he would say was truly his to find? Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Kenneth Kelly Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Kenneth Kelly such as: How he found the ability to perform magic in his early days was a great way of finding acceptance with his peer group, as he felt very isolated. How me and Kenneth both have to deal with social anxiety on a daily basis. and the steps we need to take to handle the issue allowing us to perform to our highest level. He shares with is the moment that his career was well and truly finished, standing at a window looking down on the pavement deciding to jump, and what stopped him. And lastly…. Why his parents loved the idea of him becoming a magician at the age of seven, but told him to get a real job when he told them the same at eighteen…. is this a common occurrence across the globe?? Yeah of course it is!

Time is a problem. Chances are good that, at some time in your life, you've taken a time management class, read about it in books, and tried to use an electronic or paper-based day planner to organize, prioritize and schedule your day. "Why, with this knowledge and these gadgets," you may ask, "do I still feel like I can't get everything done I need to?" The answer is simple. Everything you ever learned about managing time is a complete waste of time because it doesn't work. Before you can even begin to manage time, you must learn what time is. A dictionary defines time as "the point or period at which things occur." Put simply, time is when stuff happens. There are two types of time: clock time and real time. In clock time, there are 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour, 24 hours in a day and 365 days in a year. All time passes equally. When someone turns 50, they are exactly 50 years old, no more or no less. In real time, all time is relative. Time flies or drags depending on what you're doing. Two hours at the Department of Motor Vehicles can feel like 12 years. And yet our 12-year-old children seem to have grown up in only two hours. Related: Looking for a New Payment Company? You're 'Due' for Some Good News. Which time describes the world in which you really live, real time or clock time? The reason time management gadgets and systems don't work is that these systems are designed to manage clock time. Clock time is irrelevant. You don't live in or even have access to clock time. You live in real time, a world in which all time flies when you are having fun or drags when you are doing your taxes. The good news is that real time is mental. It exists between your ears. You create it. Anything you create, you can manage. It's time to remove any self-sabotage or self-limitation you have around "not having enough time," or today not being "the right time" to start a business or manage your current business properly. There are only three ways to spend time: thoughts, conversations and actions. Regardless of the type of business you own, your work will be composed of those three items. As an entrepreneur, you may be frequently interrupted or pulled in different directions. While you cannot eliminate interruptions, you do get a say on how much time you will spend on them and how much time you will spend on the thoughts, conversations and actions that will lead you to success. Related: Tips for a More Productive Day Practice the following techniques to become the master of your own time: Carry a schedule and record all your thoughts, conversations and activities for a week. This will help you understand how much you can get done during the course of a day and where your precious moments are going. You'll see how much time is actually spent producing results and how much time is wasted on unproductive thoughts, conversations and actions. Any activity or conversation that's important to your success should have a time assigned to it. To-do lists get longer and longer to the point where they're unworkable. Appointment books work. Schedule appointments with yourself and create time blocks for high-priority thoughts, conversations, and actions. Schedule when they will begin and end. Have the discipline to keep these appointments. Plan to spend at least 50 percent of your time engaged in the thoughts, activities and conversations that produce most of your results. Schedule time for interruptions. Plan time to be pulled away from what you're doing. Take, for instance, the concept of having "office hours." Isn't "office hours" another way of saying "planned interruptions?" Take the first 30 minutes of every day to plan your day. Don't start your day until you complete your time plan. The most important time of your day is the time you schedule to schedule time. Take five minutes before every call and task to decide what result you want to attain. This will help you know what success looks like before you start. And it will also slow time down. Take five minutes after each call and activity to determine whether your desired result was achieved. If not, what was missing? How do you put what's missing in your next call or activity? Put up a "Do not disturb" sign when you absolutely have to get work done. Practice not answering the phone just because it's ringing and e-mails just because they show up. Disconnect instant messaging. Don't instantly give people your attention unless it's absolutely crucial in your business to offer an immediate human response. Instead, schedule a time to answer email and return phone calls. Block out other distractions like Facebook and other forms of social media unless you use these tools to generate business. Remember that it's impossible to get everything done. Also remember that odds are good that 20 percent of your thoughts, conversations and activities produce 80 percent of your results.
