Entrepreneurs Success Stories By Join Up Dots, Inspiration, Confidence, & Small Business Coaching To Start Your Online Career

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is an Award-winning singer/songwriter, performer and multi-instrumentalist from Shelburne, Ontario, Canada.

And if that sounds like a pretty standard introduction then think again.

As this guy is not normal, in any shape or form, and to be honest this was one of the hardest introductions to write as it is hard to pin down the guy.

He is hugely positive. Loves his music. Is up for a laugh. Loves entertaining. But also is a deeply sensitive guy inspiring the world to do their own thing and love their lives in the process.

As we see time and time again on Join Up Dots, the people who really seem to be setting the world alight, always have tapped into the thing that they loved doing from the time they were a small child.

The kind of things that didn't require money as a reward, as they simply loved the task.

And our guest seems to be the very same, as linking him back to starting to speak at a very young age, and living in a very musical house, you can see he wanted to express himself.

His grandmother and mother also were always singing to him… and so at an early age the entertainment bug was starting to show itself.

He learned a bunch of childhood songs like row row row your boat, John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmit and old Slavonic songs, and would perform for people when they came to the house and to dinner..

As he says "My family were very proud of me and I think sometimes they loved to show me off; especially if I did imitations of other people. There was a lot of laughter."

So it seems the path to his first album "Special Ed and The Musically Challenged", released in 2000 (which I admit I read twice before I grasped the pun!), was there from the early days.

And with the follow ups "Oracles and Ice Cream", and Letters from High Latitudes, (an homage to his Ontario, Canada home) he has joined up his dots taking him back to his childhood, to live the life that he should.

So can he remember the first time that he stood up on a stage, strummed his guitar and started creating his destiny?

And was it terrifying or like walking into a comfort bubble waiting for him to enter?

And knowing what he knows now what would his biggest advice to his younger self be?

Well let's find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Ed Roman

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a lady from Melbourne Australia who has one belief in life. That all of us are capable of being a bigger, brighter version of ourselves than we give ourselves the opportunity to be. Her official bio states that she is "is a best-selling author, workplace well being teacher and playful change activator" which is of course true but is not something that occurs by magic. Back in 1994, she was working for PR Works as a general manager where she built a profitable IT portfolio, as well as creating a media training service for CEOS. Which I find fascinating, as someone who is now firmly entrenched in the people development world, this wasn't an area of her life that just burst into being after several decades. It was there right at the beginning, which grew larger in her next job as a PR Manager for Sausage Software. But it seems to me that things moved up a gear when performing the position at Pricewaterhouse Coopers, as their international leadership coach, where she worked across the world to implement the companies brand strategy using Positive Psychology theories across their culture. And then there comes the time where our guest could have continued to rise up the ranks in corporate land, gaining the salary and working tirelessly to build someone else dream. But our guest had other ideas, and left to create her own company and her own dream, after completing her Masters in Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) at the University of Pennsylvania And with a career history scattered with roles lasting a couple of years or so, it appears that she has truly found her thing, as she has stayed where she is ever since. Developing her company, bringing in bigger clients and well......loving it. As she says "I'm passionate about bringing out the best in people, particularly at work. Fusing Neuroscience and Positive Psychology into tested, practical actions, I create happier, more rewarding and more profitable workplaces for employees, their bosses and their organisations." And who wouldn't love to do something that you are passionate about everyday. That is the dream after all. So when did she get the inkling that building her business was awaiting for her? And was it scary time or "Hell yeah, lets get going?" And is there a similar theme that stops most companies, and the employees of those companies operate at the highest level? My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a man with a similar career path to myself.

And a man who also has a desire to see the world flourish, and help individuals across the globe to grow exponentially, becoming their greatest versions.

But of course to get to that point, you truly have to go through a journey of discovery yourself, to find your inner skills that make you unique and valuable to everyone.

And it would be fair to say that just a few years ago, our guest was many many steps away from discovering their purpose in life.

He was working in a restaurant in Notting Hill as a waiter, as he had been doing since the age of 15, and had certain mental restrictions should we say, that were holding him back from creating his dream life.

He didn’t have a degree and his level of English was not quite enough to understand the self development literature that he was starting to immerse himself in.

As he says, “Just three years ago I was facing a very difficult moment of my life. I knew I had to change but I didn’t know what to do. I felt lost, like wondering in a circle in a dark room with no exit sign and this wasn’t me!! I have always been the uber-positive-hyper-charged person that was able to lift up the energy of an entire room!! Where was that me? Where did it go? I wanted to find him and bring him back!

So he took the plunge and signed up for an extensive two day coaching course in London, even though he had nowhere to live, and started working on himself everyday.

He built that personal belief that he had inside him what was required to create a succesful business and little by little saw his life and his finances change.

He first set up his coaching company Your Power to Shine Ltd and then a personal development events company, GTeX and was on his way.

And now with a flourishing public speaking, coaching and development, and didgeridoo business (well the last one isn’t a business but is very impressive) he seems to be having the time of his life.

So when did he truly switch the switch of belief and start making the bold decisions that make such a difference moving forward?

And does he look back at himself and think “You were always ready to find the power to shine” you just had to start?

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is an musician, songwriter, worship leader, teacher, speaker, coach, husband, and father. It's certainly true to say that he has a lot of plates spinning at one time. But at his core you can tell that he is a family man, and although everything in his life holds a significance to him, it's family that ties it all together. Right from the early days his musical output has been nurtured and encouraged by the family atmosphere that he found himself in As he says ""My father is a pianist and back in the day he had a small jazz quintet that would rehearse in our basement. So I had a pretty good catalogue of bebop standards as part of my fabric even as a young boy. My mother didn't play an instrument but was a creative force in the house. She was always designing clothing, developing a new dish to eat, or drawing. Both my parents had a way of allowing me the freedom to express myself and making me aware of God as creator. Like so many from my generation the British band invasion of the mid/late '60s fuelled my desire to pick up the guitar as an instrument. Initially I'll admit that getting the attention of the opposite sex didn't hurt my drive to get better, but as I matured I discovered my passion was in the creative process. I loved writing songs from an early age in high school. So by the time I was in college I was addicted to it." And if you can find something that you are addicted to, so you can push through when the times get hard then success is on your radar. And that seems to be the case with today's guest as with the release of his last album Dig Love, and the soon to be coming The Consequence he is a man who knows what he wants in life. And we will discuss this on the show, but it feels like he has found it in his own heart, the creative process, and every-time he closes the door behind and comes home. So where does he get the inspiration for the songs that seem to be come easily to him? And does he look back as his life and ever think "Man, if I only had made a different decision at that point then life would be so much different?" Well lets find out as we brong onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr. Eddy Mann

Why is it in life that so many people decide that they are going to do something new and exciting, and then quite simply copy what has been done before?

We see so many times that the world fails to grasp that the easiest way to success is by finding the thing that they love doing and then building a business around this.

It is the absolute quickest route, as when things get hard, the love will push you through the tough times.

The ability to want to do it more and more (just because you want to do it) is the key to it all.

And so in this episode of Join Up Dots, your friendly neighbourhood host live from Spain, shares his feelings on what we should do to make things happy in our lives.

Enjoy!

Accountancy leads to a lifestyle business we would all want.

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a lady who was recommended to me by Danny Flood who appeared on episode 293 of the show. He said to me “I have a friend that you have to have on the show, as she has done something that all entrepreneurs want to achieve.” I said to him “What’s that Danny…tell me more!” And this is what he told me. Our guest went from running a time-sucking accounting consulting firm where she could never “turn off” from work to create a profitable productive service based business. And best of all this company has grown from 0-$15k MRR in 12 months, while scaling herself out of the operations to surf and spend time with family. Yes, whilst so many entrepreneurs are finding themselves trapped by the business that they have created our guest today has found the utopia that the world seeks. But its been a bit of a strange road to where she is today, as it was clear to see even as a young lady that she had the entrepreneurial spirit in abundance, evidenced when she started ‘Get a Grip Tennis’ a tennis coaching business . Over a period of 2 years she grew the business to a customer base of 70 and employed 4 assistant coaches. So you can see that she had the ideas, the hustle, the persistence, so why then slip into a quite convential route of acounntacy and auditing? And now that she gets chased by sharks through the waters of Australia astride her surfboard, does she have a blueprint that can work for anyone? Or is the lifestyle she has achieved, and that anyone can achieve, 100% down to the decisions that an individual makes? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, with the one and only Meryl Johnston.

Do you have a bad Father? Or was your Father not around that much when you were growing up?  Well, today’s guest joining us on the Steve job inspired podcast, grew up the youngest of 3 boys in a suburb of Dallas where he lost his father to suicide at age 11.

Subsequently as a young man, he did anything he could to avoid confronting the wounds he suffered as a result of being fatherless.

His craving for affirmation from a father who was not there to provide it, led him to seek that affirmation from the world in many unhealthy ways.

In an attempt to find value as a man, he created a false persona that left him completely unfulfilled.

His life was based on the pursuit of money in order to prove his success and he became a social alcoholic as he strived to be the life of every party and gain the attention of those around him.

It was only when he realized and dealt with the unresolved issues of his father wound that he was able to become truly fulfilled.

On April 10th, 2009, he finally came face to face with the issues that drove him to seek approval from a father who was not there to give it to him.

By forgiving his father and recognizing what it truly means to be a man, he became a new man, husband and father.

And now with his film The Father Effect” highlighting to the world the damage that fathers do unwittingly to their kids, he has become an award winning producer, happier than ever, and on a mission to change lives.

So does he think that without the tragic ending of his father, he wouldn’t have got to this position now?

Did he need that to start of the sequence that has lead him to the happiness he is feeling today?

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a man who is moving forward into his future by keeping true to his past.

Based in Waynesville Ohio, he is an American Country music artist, who has released a long list of chart topping hits in the world of traditional country music, and delights audiences across America with his brand of infectious honest to god country.

And its with little surprise that he is travelling the highways and byways, as this is a passion that has been with him since the early days.

As he says "I knew that music was what I wanted to do from an early age. We just were country people who loved country life. I remember in study hall, I would get out my guitar and we’d go pick and sing"

But what makes this guy even more interesting, is he does all this whilst still being a farmer and barn designer/builder by trade.

Yes he manages to to makes an honest, blue collar living at the same time as playing over 100 events/shows each year, all over the country.

How he fits in the two I have no idea, but we will find out during the show.

He credits much of that philosophy to the work ethic and morals that were instilled in him by his parents.

He says “I grew up on a 110 acre farm. We always had plenty of livestock, horses, and cattle – plenty of chores and things to do. We didn’t have a whole lot of money growing up, but we never went hungry or had any wants. I know what it’s like to go through hard times, but by the same token, I wouldn’t trade the way I was raised for nothing. It made me decide and realize that in life, you get what you put into it.”

Along with his band he is certainly doing just that all over America. with music as he says that is "Country, the way country music was meant to be"

So with a foot firmly planted in the worlds of Hank Williams, Hank Snow, and the Ryman Theatre legends, what does he think of the new style of country music being released today?

And if he could go back in time and record with anyone, who would he choose?
