Join Up Dots With David Ralph

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is with a man whose business partner first appeared on the show way back on episode 94 Now its his turn to join up his dots, and certainly when he starts his email request to appear with “I’m a technology entrepreneur who built an online course building software called LifterLMS. I used to live on a glacier in Alaska with a couple hundred sled dogs and managed a sled dog tour business there. You could only get there by helicopter” then you know that it is going to be an interesting conversation. But its not just his icy beginnings that interest me, but more importantly what he is doing now and the struggle he has gone through getting here. He is the founder of LifterLMS, an online resource to help people across the globe create their own online courses without all the techy struggle that boggs them all down. “It’s time to stop stringing together separate software tools into a “Software Frankenstein” to get all the functionality you need. LifterLMS is the all-in-one solution many online course creators, teachers and entrepreneurs like you have been looking for.” And I dont normally say this kind of thing in the introduction but this platform looks amazing and is so needed by so many of the people that I speak to that have all the knowledge but then lose their way within the set up. Things are good for our guest, now as they should be…as he says “I’ve gone through hard times with little money, security, and lots of stress while having a wife and 2 wonderful homeschooled children that depended on me. Now things are great financially and in terms of stability, but there was a lot of struggle. I’m happy to share openly about the journey.” So where do we start? With the dogs and the woolly hats? Or the moment that LifterLMS first popped into his head and the change in his life since that time? Well let’s do all of them as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Chris Badgett Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with such as: Why you have to find a way of building the strengths where you have gaps, and the best way of doing this is finding a business partner that has those in abundance. How Chris used to think that business and creating businesses was “evil” and how he overcame this by linking a business into the personal. Chris shares how he manages a team across the globe, ensuring that everybody has the ability to flourish and get the work done. and lastly…. Why it is such a good idea to get out to the market and validate your idea before ever spending a huge amount of money and time

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a lady who like most of us start on a career path that was right for our parents, but not necessarily ourselves. To be honest it probably wasnt even right for our parents, which makes it doubly mad that we passively follow suit

First, she followed the engineering path of her father and older brother, then stepped onto her mother’s career path in accounting.

“I was just showing up. I was physically there, but I wasn’t bringing a whole lot to the table.  I knew it wasn’t the right path for me, but I struggled for a couple of years.” And struggling is what its all about when we arent doing the thing that is right for us. But how do we break free from the struggle and start lighting up the passions of a life which may actually have no idea that we want? Well while still working as an accountant, our guest volunteered for a crisis and suicide hotline and as she say. “That was a real breakthrough for me. It gave me an opportunity to be in the kind of helping role I had thought I would like. I received amazing training there. I got experience actually helping people. I got validation and learned for the first time that I was really good at it. I was quickly promoted to be a trainer within that organization.” And that is how it starts people. You try lots of things. Some work, some don't. But when other start seeing your talents and saying great things, then perhaps that is where your attention should go. You may not see it at the time, but being told nice things about your performance is a great indicator that you have talents that can be used for a business. And now our guest, is an author of Career Grease: How to Get Unstuck and Pivot Your Career, and an expert career coach who has guided hundreds of people to innovative and functional career solutions. She is a practical advocate for achieving your heart’s desires, improving your workweek, and making a difference, all while keeping an eye on your financial success. So why does she think that now she has found her thing, it took her several missteps to find it? And is there a real path for everyone, or are someone people never going to find it as it simply doesn't exist for some? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Alison Cardy Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Alison Cardy such as: Alison shares how she struggled with marketing her business, which held her back from truly expanding in the direction she wanted before realising her mistake. Alison shares how we can all pivot in our careers, and believes that the first step is to find a champion that can support you moving forward. How the world cannot believe that they can do what they want in life, and they can actually make it happen too. Total mindset shift. and lastly…. Alison shares how she spent many years living in her head, unhappy, depressed, not uncommon to many of the people who now uses her services.

My guest on todays episode of the Join Up Dots free podcast interview, is a lady who wont let things in life get in the way of what she wants to achieve. She is an amazing woman who overcame a near fatal car accident, chose to remove her left arm, became the US National Champion in the Paralympics, competed in the World Championships in New Zealand, and is now a brand-new mother. That's not a bad start for any introduction. But the key thing to this story, and is what we will delve into in great depth, is how most of the things may not occurred, if she hadn't realised that mentally she was holding herself back from what she could achieve. As she says "I was in a car accident 17 years ago. So I had to always wear this sling and didn't have any motivation to move forward. My arm was paralyzed, a brachial plexus injury," She was intrigued and stimulated by here friends stories of running marathons, so set off to achieve the goal herself. But the whole experience was one of pain and distress, as her paralyzed arm pulled down the entire left side of her body, causing knee pain and even whiplash. It was like running with an anchor attached. She began to realize that her paralyzed arm not only weighed her down physically, it was a metaphor for all that was holding her back from living life fully. The anchor was weighing her down. Keeping her in one position, and stopping her moving towards the future she craved. So she realised that removing the arm, was going to be her saviour. Cutting the ties with the past could very well be the best thing that she could do. So she started considering amputation. "I wasn't there before, I think, emotionally" she says "I knew it was going to be different. The outward appearance is very shocking (to people); it's different now. I used to be asked all the time, 'What happened to your arm?' when it was in a sling," Making the decision to undergo such a major surgery proved difficult, even though she knew intellectually it was the right choice. Her solution? Set a series of athletic goals that would only be possible after the surgery. Make the surgery the first step to achieving what she wants in life, and wow hasn't she done just that! So, has the whole process been one that going back in time she would have done earlier? And does she see that the power of the mind, truly outweighs the capabilities of the physical body? Well lets find out, as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Tisa Cawthon.

In today's episode of Join up Dots we are responding directly to two listeners who have dropped us a line asking for help. Both of them have issues that are holding themselves back from living a dream life and creating their own business. The first is a lady who is a very talented artist, but is struggling to find a way to market her art to the world in a way that will develop a constant stream of income in to her own life. And the second is from a gentleman who is struggling to find an idea that would make a great business for him (even though as you see there is one sitting right under his nose already) Lets read the first email from Jenny Kimble: Hi David and friends! I am literally listening to you most recent podcast right now, I love it and all of your other ones are so inspiring as well. I need help please! I am an artist, and I want to be an artist full time or have a shop or something that I can do that is creative,  where I can paint all day and sell my work. I have been evolving with my art and I feel that i know who I am as an artist and I continue to grow. My full time job is very draining and stressful and I sit in an office all day and people that come in are 90% rude to me all day long. My son and husband and I are living with my mom ...my husband cant work due to many health reasons and we are in a big time rut. Its making me mean and cranky and depressed and I dont want to be that person ..to my family especially.  You said to just make it work and change your life...but i just need a little advice or something to get it going. Im willing  to do anything to be happier for myself and my family. Help! So 6 years ago when I started painting I mainly used acrylic paint and had a very abstract focus. But as I evolved I did so much research on how to use the paint in different ways and did so much experimenting that my style changed from only abstract, to abstract and illustrations combined using many mediums and materials. I had a stent of being obsessed with refurbing furniture and still do a bit of that as well on the side. I continue to grow and right now am trying to get a coloring book going as well as boost a new etsy shop for canvases, commissions and possibly pet portraits.  My instagram id is @jennykimbleart and you can find me under that name as well on Facebook.   And now the second from George: I hope everything is great. I love your show! I just started to listen to podcasts about 2 months ago because I was looking for a way to not get bored at my cubicle. That is how I found Join Up the Dots and even though my native language is not English, let alone that for me the British accent is more difficult to understand, I got so engaged with your show that I can't stop listening to it. I have been dreaming of having my own business since I was a kid, the funny thing is that I have never gone that way in my life. I am born and raised in Peru and about 5 years ago I was getting bored with my job and I thought that I should try to challenge myself and pursue an MBA abroad.  That is how I  came to Canada, where I am currently living and working. After finishing my MBA last year, I tried to get a job in my field, a task that ended up being very difficult. I couldn't get any job offer in my field and I was running out of money so  I had to be creative and do something to earn some cash. I was doing some temporal jobs where I had to do about anything, even whipping floors. In the meantime, I kept applying to different positions and one day I saw a job posting to do administrative work, I thought that I could leverage my knowledge of working with MS Office and decided to apply. Fortunately, I got the job and after 2 months, due to good performance, I got hired for a full-time position there. The salary just allows me to survive, I cannot save money, but at least I can eat and pay my bills. The thing is that I still have the same dream of creating a business, I don't see myself working all my life for someone. I want to create jobs and opportunities for other people and I, of course, want to own my time and life. I am a hardworking individual and don't care if I have to work 80 or more hours per week in something I like doing. I am very creative, I have good ideas all the time, but my problem is that I don't know how to execute and take action, maybe because I have been working for someone so long. The reason for me to write to you is because, as I commented, I listen to your show every single day and I heard you saying that you can help people like me to unleash the entrepreneur inside. I don't know where to start, what to do or which of my ideas I should pursue and unfortunately I don't have money to invest because I spent my life savings in my master degree. I read, breath and eat business information every day and I am very passionate about entrepreneurship and small businesses. I hope you don't find this email so long and please excuse my bad English, but it was hard to comprise all my story here because there was even more information I wanted to share. I also hope this email is part of my first step to take action as the call you did to one of your favorite shows some years ago where you tell the host your feeling about his show and your desire to become an entrepreneur. It would be great to look back and found this email and see my entrepreneurial journey with proud as you see yours now. Thank you for your attention and please keep doing the show because you makes us believe that by joining up the dots and connecting our past is the best way to build up our futures.  Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics such as: Wky Ikea and Amazon are such amazing paces to do market research. Why the most obvious easy thing you can do, might just be what you should be building a business around. Why a business is 50% what you want to do, and 50% what you customer is looking for. and lastly…. Why going niche is the key to getting rich. Market to a tight group and start solving their problems.

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a lady who really is blazing a path across the world, being uniquely her and helping people everywhere to find love and amazing relationships. Now you might expect that the introduction will talk to you about Californian beaches, yoga retreat and other such things. But by now, as you well know, is not what we do at Join Up Dots. Instead we like to start with the words of the lady herself who says  "I was a rebel in my teenage years. At 18 years old, I served in the intelligence unit of the IDF. It taught me discipline and responsibility. Soon after my service ended, my free spirit took me to Japan. Living in this magical place for 3.5 years was better than the best sushi you have ever had. But I knew that life had more to offer, I dreamed of becoming the next Angelina Jolie and moved to NYC to study acting. When I started getting minor roles in independent films, my dream seemed within reach. It wasn’t all easy. I’d endured a crippling bout of depression that lasted for years after escaping an abusive relationship. I did everything I could to mend my heart and regain my strength. The process of rising like a phoenix from my own ashes, was my catalyst for becoming a coach and helping others in the same way  I was helped. Sometimes, you have to go through great pain and difficulty to unwrap your true gifts." And isn't that what we see every single day in Join Up Dots, the bad stuff is the gold, and the good stuff is well.....just that, good. Nice to live through, but doesn't really teach you anything. And now with her coaching business, podcast, and testimonials growing daily it is without a doubt clear to everyone that this lady needed the tough times to become who she is today.  So when did she realise that her dreams of a youngster were not actually the dreams that the adult should cling to? And where do people go wrong when trying to find love? Trying too hard, or not trying at all? Well  lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Orion Talmay Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Orion Talmay such as: We discuss how we all are masculine and feminine energies, and how we can channel these to gain different results from what we would normally receive. Orion shares how she found her partner, after having a breakthrough at a Tony Robbins course..and what happened in a hot air balloon. and lastly…. Why we would all look ourselves in the mirror and say "I love you" no matter what has gone right or wrong in our lives. Acceptance is such a major part to finding your true self.

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a man with many bold titles given to him from companies across the world. The Marketing Journal calls him one of “The Best Minds in Marketing,” Fast Company Magazine calls him a “Human Exclamation Point,” The Economist calls him “off -putting to some,” and Newsweek calls him, “The Howard Stern of Entrepreneurialism.” Which isnt easy to say all in one breath. But there is no doubt that he is a man who is rocking and rolling everyday and has found the thing that lights him up inside even if that wasnt the case at the beginning. He’s a dyslexic paperboy from Montreal with Scottish roots, and at 18 got thrown out of school, and with no other options he started a company. He served as chief marketing officer of software juggernaut Mercury Interactive which was acquired by acquired by Hewlett-Packard in 2006 for $4.5 billion, co-founded marketing consulting firm LOCHHEAD, was the founding CMO of Internet consulting firm Scient, and served as head of marketing at Vantive, an CRM software firm. And then after 30 years in business he retired and it seems to me started having the real type of fun that makes a life what it is. And now he is the host of “The Podcast Silicon Valley Needs” — Legends & Losers, and the co-author of Harper Collins’ “instant classic,” Play Bigger: How Pirates, Dreamers and Innovators Create and Dominate Markets. Through his podcast he has 100% unscripted long form interviews with some fascinating folk, who haven’t appeared on every podcast under the sun and are fascinating with a capital F. So what made him retire at such a young age, and did he find it hard to fill the hole in his life? And where does he see his life going now….more and more into the media world, or simply exploring where the fun is in life? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Christopher Lochhead. Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Christopher Lochhead such as: How he started low middle class, and has hustled his way to where he is today, but knows 100% that he couldn’t have done it without the business partner that he found. Christopher shares how the legendary people in life don’t get lucky, but that do position themselves to be in the place to receive the luck if it arrives. Doing, reading and finding a mentor are the three ways that we should operate in life, something that Christopher does religiously. and lastly…. Do your homework, learn the process and focus on the solution to a problem. That is how a business is made, which is why so many people screw up on this. They don’t do the basics.

Today’s guest joining us on the Join Up Dots free podcast is a lady who like so many of us decided that she wanted something in life, and then found out that she hated it once it was achieved. As she says in her own words “My lifelong goal was to be a manager. I hit the corporate fast track and became a manager in record time – and found out I hated it! The long hours, corporate politics and endless budget meetings drained my energy and enthusiasm for life. What I really wanted, I decided, was a life where I could make my husband and kids my top priority – so I quit the corporate world to run my own business. I built and ran several businesses but something was still missing.” That statement is so interesting to me on so many levels, which we will discuss on the show. But our guest worked on living a life with status and prestige, but then changed direction. So she became an entrepreneur which is the direct opposite to where she was and still it wasn’t right. These decisions seem to be directed by her head, or her survival instincts, yet once she listened to her heart, and really listened to what the old blood pumper was telling her then it all came together for her. And now she works with clients all over the world in such wonderful places as Holland, Belgium, Australia, U.K., Hong Kong and more! She has coached and mentored hundreds of entrepreneurs helping them create 6 figure businesses and beyond. Even achieving six figures in one day. So does she look back at her career in corporate land and thank the gods that even though she was climbing up the wrong ladder, it still taught her the skills to build her own ladder and start climbing again? And how does she balance this increased success with also being a Mum and Wife. Could she see a time when once again the ladder turns out to be wrong? Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to joining up the dots, with the one and only Val Bullerman. Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Val Bullerman such as: How she struggled with depression for twelve years, but now makes a decision everyday to be happy. Why we must realise our personal value to what we can bring to the world if we are going to achieve true greatness. Why we should never try to guess what people will be able to afford for your products. Quote your price and let it fly. And lastly…. And why Oprah Winfrey creeps around the woods of America when you least expect it….who would have thought!!!

Life shouldn't be hard, should it?

We have so many experiences waiting for us.

We have so many places that we can visit.

We can have so many laughs, jokes, and generally fun times that swe should be walking around with a huge smile everyday!

But do you see many people walking around with a huge smile?

Not very often I would have thought, because people are so wrapped up in the effort of everything.

Last night I had a problem. I couldn't see what i should record for today's episode of Join Up Dots.

All week I had thought long and hard about the subject, but inspiration hadn't hit at all.

“Ohhhh what can I do??”...my mind stressed “My listeners need an episode of the show, and I have podcasting block”

So what I did was nothing, and instead just went to bed and slept on the problem, until I woke up and BOOM and idea was there waiting for me.

You see, i made life easy for myself. And so why do we do this? Why do we think that everything is effort and hustle? I suppose it goes back to wanting to look like we are hardworking and industrious, instead of lazy so and so’s!

I suppose it is also linked to wanting other people to be impressed by the work we are doing, even if it's not the type of work we want to do. We want to shine, and by floating through life doing the minimum and having a good time how can we possibly shine? And that my listeners is the problem…...we aren't allowing ourselves to shine because we are not doing what we can do best...we are doing what we find hardest. Total madness in every way. So how do we overcome this? How do we change the habits of a lifetime and start creating a future for ourselves that is super fun, and well easy. Well...one of the best ways is to ask our friends and colleagues what they think we do best. What they think we excel at every time they see us...and you will be surprised at what they say. “We love the way that you can make us feel good” “We love the way that you are so organised” We love the way that you are able to pack a suitcase like nobody else we know” What??? “Those little things”, you will cry “That's just what I do” Exactly...it's just what you do, but what other people can't do and that this where you should be heading in life. Look for the super talents that are so unbelievably easy for you and make that your focus and see how your life changes. Life will never be hard again!

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a man with a skill that most people could use, even if they think they dont need it. He is the CEO of a premier ghostwriting agency, Speak It To Book, and is an expert at establishing a person as a thought leader by turning their ideas into a book, using less than 24 hours of their time. He fuses publishing, ghostwriting, and new generation marketing industries in a powerful and personal way, and has earned half a million through his Book Funnel Method and aims to double/triple his clients' revenue. He is a published author, an Amazon #1 best-seller, winner of the prestigious Genesis Contest for fiction writers, graduate of the CWG's highest level, teacher at conferences across the nation, and former award-winning journalist of numerous star athletes and musicians, including Derek Jeter and Roger Clemons. But this of course is his professional blurb as you dont get to where you are today without a journey of many, many dots. And this was certainly the case with todays guest who after leaving Western Washington University with a BA in Journalism, he started his writing career by covering the New York Yankees for the 2007 season, before relesaing three of his own books. So words were his passion, and fusing that with his love in seeing his clients dreams come true with his ghost writing prowess and he is a man loving life. So even if someone is a great writer, could they still benefit from the skills of a ghostwriter? And where do people go wrong - not having the killer idea, or overwriting and actually killing that killer idea? Well let's find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Caleb Breakey Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Caleb Breakey such as: Caleb shares the story of how he became an overnight success in ghostwriting, which actually took ten years of hard toil and stress. Similar story to most entrepreneurs.   We discuss how so many people want  to target the microwave community that want success within a few weeks, knowing that they instead of the years that success is built on. Why now is the best time ever to launch a book, because obscurity is not an issue. Totally different ballgame  from just a few years ago. and lastly…. Why we both believe that the best way to create a product or sales funnel is by choosing two people that are rocking and rolling and then deconstructing the breadcrumbs that they have left for us. Clarity and focus is the key to success.

Do tech startup rock your world, and the thought of creating your own really excite you?

Well my guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is the founder of Acuity Scheduling, the slickest way for businesses to automate and manage their appointments online, allowing clients to schedule themselves.

Acuity Scheduling supports over 50,000 businesses of all sizes, from people working for themselves to major corporations with thousands of employees. Their Customer Support is unmatched in this industry as they focus on easy & pain-free scheduling with one on one support as they help their client’s businesses grow and thrive. He is a self-professed tech geek and espresso maniac (a word he does not use lightly) who wholeheartedly believes that business should be fun, and that shines out on everything that I have seen from todays guest From his Linkedin profile that simply states "I enjoy every day by working on the things I love." To the way that he hires ""Instead of asking for a resume, we actually ask for a love letter. What they say in the love letter, and how they phrase it and show off their personality, is the single most important way that we screen for fit within the company. But how did he take this fun loving approach and build something so needed by business across the world? Well it all started close to home, when he watched the struggles his mom was having running her business As he says "My mom is a massage therapist. She was self-employed for the longest time. I ended up seeing her going back and forth with clients, reminding them, getting calls that, “Gertrude just got her kidney stones removed, so I won’t be able to come in,” and all these little stories. There were things that weren’t really her job. She was spending so much time on the phone beforehand and after hand and scheduling appointments that I thought that there had to be a better way. That’s where Acuity was born." Find people pain points. Solve that problem and BOOM you have a business on your hands. Which makes it seem a lot more simpler than it really is, but is still just about right. So when did he realise that his fledgling product was not just going to be something his Mom used, and start to want to market it in the right way? And what was the tipping point that allowed it to take hold and stand on its own two feet in the business world? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Gavin Zuchlinski Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Gavin Zuchlinski such as: Why Gavin spends more time on the customer service than he should do, but enjoys it and finds out much more about how he can improve his service because of these conversation at the ground level. We discuss how a tech startup needs to always have a time of quiet growth, to allow for the feedback, development and customer service to join forces in a timely way. Gavin shared a fascinating story of the time that he wanted to actually kill Acuity Scheduling, and the reasons behind that decision. Why focus is so hard when creating a new start up product, especially for any new tech startup. Ignore the new shiny objects, get your head down, and work on your vision.  and lastly…. Gavin shares why he doesnt have a Facebook account, and the reasons he feels that the world is starting to turn against Mr Zuckerbergs platform.

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a lady who believes one hundred percent in the words of Joseph Campbell (Follow your bliss and the Universe will open doors, where there were only walls.) But for many years her thoughts were driven by expectations far from remarkable, She was solid, dependable and in a career which was nothing more than traditional. As she says “I became a senior high school science teacher, driven by my passion for teaching about health and the human body. I loved and excelled in my work, and thought I would retire from this position in my elderly years. However, after a deeply transformative and unexpected personal and spiritual awakening that began in 2006, I ended up resigning from my teaching position and officially retiring in 2009. Having just come out of my 20s, and driven to never have a “job” or work in any traditional setting again. I wanted to be responsible for my own destiny and was not interested in conforming to the cookie-cutter standards and expectations set out by society. And so despite everyone’s objections to me leaving a secure job that I loved, I was driven by the voice within that was hard to ignore if I was going to be true to myself and live in alignment with my passions and values.” And so with no great plan, but hustle, passion and the ability to open doors that even the universe couldn’t, she is now the creator of the Healthytarian lifestyle, based on fresh thinking, smart eating and mindful living to empower individuals who wish to take a deeply holistic approach to their wellness. She has also created video shows on her two web channel networks EBTV and Healthytarian, that feature her own teaching and other guest experts to inspire, empower and motivate people into positive action. So when she decided to walk out of her career did she have any idea that this was the direction that she would go for? And although going great now, was there a time when she might have been persuaded to go back into full-time employment? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Evita Ochel

In today’s episode of Join Up Dots we spend time looking at whether we should a business plan when starting a business.

Should you plan it all out when you first start or instead make it up as you go along?

Well there are so many nuggets of gold in this episode you will want to grab a pen and paper and take notes for sure. Ready?

Dear David, It’s your favourite Hungarian listener again. Last time it gave me such a good feeling that you started your episode talking about my review. It made my day that I heard that I’d made yours. So today I’ve listened to the episode with Milana Leshinsky about ‘Simplicity’. You both have agreed on that we – the newbies in business – shouldn’t even write business plan cause we have no idea who to follow and what we can achieve. I am on a different opinion. I think that if I find a company that I like and it’s working then it’s better to follow cause WE HAVE NO IDEA. So someone who has already experiences running a business knows better and would give us a clue, right? Also, we can learn from other apps – how they’ve reached their target audience. The other thing is that I’m finishing my part sooner then my business partner. I’m responsible for the design, figuring out the structure of the app and what the user should see and how they want to use and I’m also writing the business plan (!) :D. I think it is important to summarize what we are building for whom, when and why. But he is responsible for all the technology part, like programming the app and building a web server (if there is such a thing). So the question is if I should help him with his tasks or we should stick to the basic roles and I can improve my part. So by the time he is finishing the prototype I will already have several plans what to do with it. But do we have time in such a field? Or should we involve more people – ones who know more about programming? But then it’s risky that we are loosing control. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter, David!

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a lady who asks a great question. “Would you invest 5 minutes a day to achieve a higher level of success? Worldwide, countless real estate agents, entrepreneurs, sales professionals, business owners and others have said YES! If they can do it, you can too! You only have to invest 5 minutes a day to achieve real results. Invest your first 5 minutes a day in reading and sharpening your skills, and this one step can put you on the fast track to success in your life and business. Many masters and experts have shared their wisdom through stories; learning from these experienced leaders by reading their words is how you, too, can achieve personal and professional transformation. Success is achieved by getting into action immediately and applying the principles learned. Applied knowledge leads to success. But of course success isn’t as easy as this. Success is built on hard work, failures, stumbles and “Aha moments” that lead us to where. And that is certainly the case with todays guest who began her real estate career developing residential lots with the Trammel Crow Company in Dallas, Texas. She then worked in commercial real estate with The Staubach Company in the Washington, DC Metro area. Before moving to northern Virginia, and completing a Masters Degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Her BA is from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri – her hometown. Through the HBC Group, she then launched Community Charity Champions to raise funds for local non-profit groups and was awarded by the Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce for the Social Corporate Responsibility Award for 2012. So this lady has hustled, and worked her way to where she is now able to see that just five minutes a day can make all the difference. But how did she discover the five minute rule? And where do people go wrong? Not being intentional with their actions, or simply being to hurried to actually make the right decisions? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Karen Briscoe Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Karen Briscoe such as: Why it is so important to start with five minutes a day to focus on health, mindset, fitness whatever you want. But it helps you become intentional with your actions. Karen talks about how the book becoming real was as much as a surprise to her than anything else she has done in her life. The dots joined up and presented her with the opportunity We talk about how people always use a lack of time as the reason for not doing something. However we all have the same time, the question is do you want to do it or not? and lastly…. Why Karen believes that action will help you find out so much quicker if something is working or not. Dont try to double guess, just do.

Personal Finance Expert Pete Matthew Shows Us How To Sort Out The Money

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a man who quite frankly I should have invited onto the show years ago.

He has been on my radar for awhile, but for some reason or not has not been given the opportunity to join up  his dots. He is a man who has blended so many vitally important skills being used in the online world today into a rocking and rolling business.

He is a Financial Planner, Podcaster, Video Blogger, Social Media Trainer. Managing Director of Jacksons Wealth Management, and best of all can teach us how to take control of our cash in ways that simply are life changing. As he says "I am a Certified Financial Planner and Chartered Financial Planner providing fee-based holistic financial planning advice in Penzance, West Cornwall. I am also an award-winning podcaster and video blogger. My passion is to spread the word that anyone can take control of their personal finances. I am fulfilling this passion via my financial education website and podcast, MeaningfulMoney. Through video, podcasting and social media I am reaching thousands of people every week with my simple financial planning message I set out to provide simple, accessible financial planning information to the masses, and decided that video might be a good way to do this, and through trial and error, built a site full of basic instructional video. Through my work with this site, I was awarded IFALife's Social Media Financial Adviser of the Year award 2010 and I won the Professional Adviser Financial Education award in both 2011 and 2012. I also received the Scottish Widows award for Industry Innovation in 2014, and was named UK Podcast of the Year in 2015. This is great stuff, and will of course make a great episode. So what made him continue through the trial and error stages of video content creation, when most people would have said "I'll just do what I am already doing...its easier?" And where do people go wrong with their money issues? Not looking after the money they already have, or being unaware of what is available to them out there in the big wide world? Well let's find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, with the one and only Mr Pete Matthew. Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Peter Matthew such as: How he started with the concept of his podcast as simply something to do as he fancied it.....and little by little has turned it into a monster. Why so many people can start a podcast, but in fact so many podcasters should actually be stopped from doing it and the reasons why. Pete shares how he managed to find the right business partners to hep him scale the business, and why he blended friends and business (which so many people are frightened off). and lastly…. We share the top three steps for getting your accounting system in place when you start creating a new business. And they are not as hard as they might seem at all.

Book Launches can be a nightmare, but not with the book launch king on your side.

Today’s guest is a special man to have on today’s episode, which is the official 500th interview that I have recorded. Not of course the 500th show we have released, but the 500th time that I have sat down with a mover and shaker to record an interview for the show. And what makes it even more special is this guy was the first interviewee that I ever recorded with nearly two years ago. Yep, when I was nothing more than a man with a dream to become a podcaster, with no profile, confidence, social platform, then if it wasn’t for him then there was a good chance that the show wouldn’t be around today. So send all your complaints to him as he could have nipped it all in the bud right at the very beginning Now on that first episode we talked about how he had left the military with a desire to travel the world and create a business for himself on his own terms. How he would sit on his bed in his baracks and start creating something that he could show to the world and be proud off. But wow, hasn’t it all changed since we last spoke, as it now seems that not only does he have the belief in what he can achieve, but also the world does too. As he is creating products, podcasts, books and income faster and faster. Such as the Publishers’ Empire, a comprehensive publishing training program, community and book launch platform, which holds over 100 HD training videos, a private, 24/7 forum, weekly small group coaching, exclusive expert interviews with today’s top self-publishers, marketers, and more, copy-and-paste book marketing and sales scripts, dozens of book templates, and much, much more. And those three last words are the key to his increasing success “Much, much more” He is seeing the world differently. He is acting differently And he is playing to his super talents, and where he lacks, finding the super talents of others to deliver much much more. So when did it really start to speed up and in the words of the comedian Steve Martin “He become so good that he couldn’t be ignored any more” And when he looks back at the version of himself, sitting on his army bed, was he close to what he wanted to be, or is that now a distant version of what he now wants to become? Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots for the second time with the one and only Mr Tom Morkes. Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty subjects as: Why in his opinion it is so important to invest in the initial effort to growing a business and not taking short cuts to success. Why his Dad still thinks it’s time for him to go out and get a real job (He has employees now Mr Morkes Senior…this is a real job!) How he travelled around the world building his business, but now has found a home base in Aspen Colorada where he is creating his strategic launch businesses Why mindset is so important to build as quickly as possible, as you cannot hold the belief of others unless you hold your own belief in yourself. And lastly………. Why Tom’s children will have such an opportunity to create their own lives and income, as their Dad will instil a respect for entrepreneurship from the start.

Break The Rules To Make Success In Your Life - Fast!

Today's episode of Join Up Dots, has been inspired by a lovely lady named Amy O'Brien. Amy connected with us via Facebook after seeing a video that was posted by David Ralph the host of Join Up Dots. Amy, mentioned that she was desperate to leave her life in finance and would like nothing more than to create a life coach business but is struggling to overcome the mental roadblock of getting the business off the ground. She feels that she needs qualifications She needs a track record of success. She thinks she needs everything to be lined up ready to rock. But of course as we see everyday on Join Up Dots, and this is the whole theme of the show, you make it up as you go along. You start your business and build the experience as you go. Nothing and I mean nothing can replace experience. So in this episode of Join Up Dots, we not only answer this problem, but we also tackle another quite unusual question posed by a listener in Australia. "Good morning David and everybody at join up dots. Thank you so much for creating the amazing Join Up Dots and all the episodes. The guests that you have on are quite simply, eclectic, inspiring and motivational. What I love about Join Up Dots is even though the guest may have been on other podcasts, the information you draw out of them is the kind of stuff that I want to hear. So a question for you if you would be kind enough to answer it David on one of these shows? I started an online business at about the same time I guess that you started Join Up Dots, selling surfing equipment and diving apparatus. The business has grown to$ 250000 turnover per year and has left me with a lifestyle that I could only dream about. My question to you is after all the hustle, after all the struggle I've now found the dreamlife a bit flat. I thought being retired at age 36 would be the dream but now I'm wondering what to do with myself. Of course I could start another business but I feel that I would just be in the same position again do you have any suggestions Thank you Sam Logan Gold Coast Australia.

Simplicity can be so hard to create in business, unless you know todays guest.

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a lady who is passionate about business, helping people, but also having a life away from business. And that my friends is so important, as business is important but not at the sacrifice of our own lives and happiness. She is an entrepreneur, business strategist, and a marketing mentor to coaches, authors, and speakers and also the founder of the Simplicity Circle, whose mission is to help entrepreneurs succeed and grow, while keeping their business simple. Milana came from Soviet Ukraine 25 years ago as a classical musician with zero knowledge of the business world, and has built her million-dollar coaching business from home part time, while raising her two children. And if you think that this was all some amazing masterplan then think again, as she began her career  teaching music theory and history to 3-5 graders in a specialty music school in Kiev, Ukraine. Followed by a quick stint in an Insurance company, and then working as a web designer before starting her own business.   She did the work that she thought she would love before finding the one that appears to light her up inside bigtime. She is the creator of Recurring Revenue Revolution, author of “Coaching Millions,” co-founder of JV Insider Circle, and inventor of telesummit. She constantly strives to stay on the cutting edge in the coach, author, speaker space, and when she’s not working on her business, she writes music and enjoys Latin ballroom dancing. So how has she managed to blend a super successful business, whilst still being their for the kids and herself? And has she always managed to get the balance right, or like most of us ploughed into burnout before seeing the light? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Milana Leshinsky Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Milana Leshinsky such as: Why simplicity in business is such a key part to the success of all businesses. Relax into the process and see where it takes you. How Milana never once went to coaching school, although that never stopped her being a mentor to other coaches. Don't be held back by qualifications...can you solve the problems of your clients? and lastly…. Why its so important to find the systems in you business which will allow you to walk away from it. Nobody wants to create a monster in their lives.
