He has been featured in ‘Secrets of TopBusiness Builders Exposed’, Virgins in-flight magazine, Sky Business and many more. He started his first business at the age of 18, where he built it to be a multi-millions dollar business with 64 trucks on the road in just 4 years. As impressive as it sounds, he was working ridiculous long hours and not making any money! By the age of 28 he was over it, and just knew there had to be a better way. After selling his transport company, he decided to pursue his passion for business and spent many years and tens of thousands of dollars learning what it takes to build a successful business. This led him to personally mentoring and coaching hundreds of business owners in dozens of industries, building his own multi-million dollar business in the process. He likes to have fun in both life and business, so is perfect for a show like Join Up Dots So why was he making no money when he had a multi million pound business in his hands? And is this a similar failing of most new entrepreneurs that he encounters? They are doing all the work but not getting the rewards? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Ben Fewtrell  Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Ben Fewtrell such as: How there are three types of businesses, you are either employed, self employed or you have a business. A business is where you can leave it alone and it will still make you money by operating. Ben shares how he almost when bust by trying to grow a business bigger than himself a this time. You need to work to your limits and then scale from that point. Through changing twelve jobs within twelve months he found out a very important lesson: He cant work for someone else and never has since. and lastly…. How some of his clients just cant be pushed into seeing a new way of operating. As he Ben says "They either breakthrough or they breakdown."

Todays guest joining us on the Join Up Dots podcast is an expert in Instagram and a lady that if you opened her up would have entrepreneur written all the way through her. Actually she was back on the show on episode 259, where we talked about her early journey where she was creating an online identity and profile, alongside a brick and mortar business in the holistic world of Kinesiology, which is a holistic approach of simultaneously treating all the aspects of a person, emotional, nutritional, structural and energetic needs, whilst still working for the man.  This came about after spending a number of years suffering from a vast array of illness and discomfort, she discovered this form of treatment and founded the company Body Sync in 2010, to take her understanding and training out into the world to help others. But she needed to pivot as quite simply, although she was treating her patients to feel great,  the business was making her ill again, as the hours were grinding her into the ground. So she did what so many people do and took the learnings from all this action taking and positioned herself as the Digestion Detective  which was a franchised online show, found in ITunes and available on UK Health Radio each week, where she talked and discussed health issues. And now it seems that she has gone in a different direction, and has niched down to a tighter model, teaching health care professionals and others how to gain massive visibility online. She has seen that her colleagues are struggling to get their message out to the world, and with her Instagram coaching, podcasting school and other platforms she is showing them the way to get noticed. As she says "Having a thriving online business isn’t hard once you know a few things and who better to learn from than someone who has made every single mistake possible and still here doing her thing. " So does she look back and slap her head with a "If I only knew then what i know now how life would have been different" And is she surprised at how little people actually know today, when we are all attached to our online profiles and content like never before. Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Sam Bearfoot Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Sam Bearfoot such as: We discuss how and why people are continuing to make the same mistakes online that they have always done, even though they could find the easy way through to the gold. We share the first steps to creating Instagram success, by deciding who your customers are, and focusing the content on them, not necessarily all about yourself. Why Instragram coaching is just the starting point, and success from high numbers only comes by being consistent and posting at regular intervals and lastly…. We show the world has success online is created, by the open and frank discussion as to entrepreneurial life. Sam has created an Instagram success due to her 15 years of persistence.

Today's episode as is normal for a Fridays show, is a hybrid between keeping you advised as to what is happening in the world of Join Up Dots, and answering a few listener questions. Well, let's start with the show first and foremost. If you have been keeping up with the new routine that we now operate you will know that October has been a rest month for the host of Join Up Dots. Being aware that a business can not operate on a low battery, has pushed David into finding a way that he can bring the business under his control and not the other way around. He has done that by compressing his activities into a four week burst of activity, and then protecting the following week like his life depended on it. Making sure that he utilized batching methods, Parkinson's law and also the 80/20 principle which he is a huge believer in. If you want more free time in your life, and increase your earnings exponentially then as he says "You must think about what you are doing, and what your customer needs most. Cut out all the wasted time that you think is productive, and just do what they truly need." It really has been a game change for sure, and allows for true focus, money building, and great ideas to flow into your brain. Now for some questions from the listeners of Join Up Dots "Hi David, I am a 26 year old female originally from Jakarta in Malaysia, but now living in Holland. I love your show and all the interesting stories that you give us. I am in a job that i dont like and find very unfulfilling. My passion is to create a business around Yoga, and specifically Pranayama, which is the formal practice of controlling the breath, which is the source of our prana, or vital life force. This seems so specific that I wonder if I could manage to build a business around this. Any suggestions I would truly appreciate it."  Adelia, Amsterdam. The second question this week is from John from Cheshire who asks "David what is the first thing that you do each day in your business. I would love some guidance as I spend much of my time deciding to do something and not actually doing anything" And now the last question from the Join Up Dots listeners comes from M. Archer from Tupelo, Mississippi who wants more guidance in regards to finding money from her Toy Making business.  "Hello David, over the last few years I have been working on a toy making business. These are small knitted replicas of friends and family. They send me pictures and then I make small models of them. I love doing it, as its very therapeutic. But it is also time consuming so the money I can charge for the toys, is nowhere near what my hourly wage would be in a job. Any suggestions as to how I can develop this business that I love into one that I can do full time?"   Thank you as always for you your time and listening to the show.

Todays guest joining us on the Join Up Dots podcast is a man who has been at the very top of his career, and now is on a mission to go even higher. He is a former American football center and commercial actor. He played college football at Purdue, and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the fifth round of the 2001 NFL Draft, earning a Super Bowl ring with the Steelers in Super Bowl XL (40) against the Seattle Seahawks. He has also been a member of the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans, and is now a Master Practitioner in Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). With his brand, Basic Instructions, he helps executives, athletes and others to access the resources within themselves to achieve the life experience they desire. As he says "In NLP, there’s a saying: the conscious mind is the goal setter, and the unconscious mind is the goal-getter. Your unconscious mind is not out to get you–rather, it’s out TO GET FOR YOU whatever you want in life. However, if you don’t know how to communicate what you want properly, it will keep bringing steaming bowls of liver stew out of the kitchen. Whatever it is, realize that your unconscious mind only does that because it thinks that’s what you want. (“Sir, here is your procrastination along with a side of anxiety. I’ve also told the valet to bring up your emotional baggage as per your request. Will you be needing anything else?”) You see there is a lot going on inside us which we just haven't got a clue that it's holding us back from ever getting ourselves into the end zone, for lifes touchdown. So as he worked tirelessly in his football career did he always have an eye on the next stage of his life? And where do people go wrong in life in his view...working hard for the wrong things, are not working hard enough for the right things? Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Chukky Okobi Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Chukky Okobi such as: Chukky shares how the repetition of practicing time and time again can be so powerful, as it leads us to know how its going to feel at the right time Why it is so important to mentally set out your own steps, whilst not being prescribed by others and what they expect of us day to day. and lastly…. Chukky reveals how the biggest obstacle that people face in their lives is their own personal belief structure. What they believe they can achieve often gets stopped before it ever has a chance to come to life.

Todays guest joining us on the Join Up Dots podcast is a man who has built a thriving business around SEO. Yeah, as we know Search and being found is a huge part of business success He has worked extensively in SEO since 2013, trying and testing all of the primary strategies to see what is most effective to boost rankings and organic traffic. Tom spearheaded the success of Life Coach Spotter to 20,000+ unique monthly visitors from organic traffic. As he says "I grew up in the suburbs of Long Island, New York, a 3rd-generation Italian. I went to public school and excelled in sports. I studied Philosophy at Providence College and spent a lot of time reading and learning from ancient philosophers. After graduating from college, I went off to work on Wall Street, day trading at a proprietary equities firm in Manhattan. In 2013 I started digital marketing for LifeCoachSpotter.com where I learned SEO from the ground up. I struggled with SEO for Life Coach Spotter for years, trying every tactic the so-called “experts” had recommended. When I finally “figured it out”, I knew I had to share my own expertise to drive results for other businesses who were struggling with their own SEO.  Most of what experts advise drives little to no impact. There are only 3 areas to focus on to drive impact for your site’s SEO:  links, optimization, and content. That’s it.  I spent years banging my head against the wall so that now you don’t have to.  It’s both fun and profitable to get monthly recurring traffic back to your business’s website. Today I serve a number of clients through my SEO agency Sure Oak.  We work with clients from around the world and I am lucky to have a passionate and dedicated team to work with who is well-versed in SEO, content-marketing, technical development, outreach, and more.  I am forever grateful to the amazing team at Sure Oak. So are the days of black hat, white hat techniques long gone, or just simmering below the surface for the next SEO fad to appear? And how does he market his own company, free traffic or paid? Well let's find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr. Tom Casano Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Tom Casano such as: Why organic traffic is such a powerful and under used form of traffic generation, that pays you back time and time again. Tom shares how his first 50 blog posts led to crickets in his business, but it taught him so much as to what actually works in SEO.  and lastly…. We discuss why it is such a good idea to walk away from a business when it gets really hard, just to allow yourself space to find an easier way.

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a man with many bold titles given to him from companies across the world. The Marketing Journal calls him one of “The Best Minds in Marketing,” Fast Company Magazine calls him a “Human Exclamation Point,” The Economist calls him “off -putting to some,” and Newsweek calls him, “The Howard Stern of Entrepreneurialism.” Which isnt easy to say all in one breath. But there is no doubt that he is a man who is rocking and rolling everyday and has found the thing that lights him up inside even if that wasnt the case at the beginning. He’s a dyslexic paperboy from Montreal with Scottish roots, and at 18 got thrown out of school, and with no other options he started a company. He served as chief marketing officer of software juggernaut Mercury Interactive which was acquired by acquired by Hewlett-Packard in 2006 for $4.5 billion, co-founded marketing consulting firm LOCHHEAD, was the founding CMO of Internet consulting firm Scient, and served as head of marketing at Vantive, an CRM software firm. And then after 30 years in business he retired and it seems to me started having the real type of fun that makes a life what it is. And now he is the host of “The Podcast Silicon Valley Needs” — Legends & Losers, and the co-author of Harper Collins’ “instant classic,” Play Bigger: How Pirates, Dreamers and Innovators Create and Dominate Markets. Through his podcast he has 100% unscripted long form interviews with some fascinating folk, who haven’t appeared on every podcast under the sun and are fascinating with a capital F. So what made him retire at such a young age, and did he find it hard to fill the hole in his life? And where does he see his life going now….more and more into the media world, or simply exploring where the fun is in life? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Christopher Lochhead. Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Christopher Lochhead such as: How he started low middle class, and has hustled his way to where he is today, but knows 100% that he couldn’t have done it without the business partner that he found. Christopher shares how the legendary people in life don’t get lucky, but that do position themselves to be in the place to receive the luck if it arrives. Doing, reading and finding a mentor are the three ways that we should operate in life, something that Christopher does religiously. and lastly…. Do your homework, learn the process and focus on the solution to a problem. That is how a business is made, which is why so many people screw up on this. They don’t do the basics.

Today’s guest, joining us today on the Join Up Dots entrepreneur podcast interview is the host of Money For the Rest of Us, one of the most downloaded podcasts for Investing in the world with over 6 million downloads. As he says “I help investors have enough to retire. Managing your own investments can be isolating at times. No one to talk shop with. Cheer you on. Reaffirm you’re doing the right thing. Help you not to overreact to the latest financial headlines. While I’ve managed billions of dollars professionally for institutional clients and co-led a large investment research team, I don’t do that anymore. Now my biggest financial challenge is the same as yours: making sure I have enough money to retire and that those resources last. Here’s the thing. We are better investors when we have a sounding board— a community to share what we’re thinking, what we’re learning, the mistakes we make, and what we’re doing with our investments. Money For the Rest of Us is for people like you and me who aren’t relying on someone else to make sure we have enough to retire. We’ve taken control of our financial future. But just because you choose to manage your own investment portfolio doesn’t mean you have to do it alone. Let’s take this financial journey together.” Prior to launching his podcast, he was Chief Investment Strategist and Chief Portfolio Strategist at Fund Evaluation Group, LLC, a $33 billion investment advisory firm, where he co-headed the 21-person research group. He also co-founded the firm’s $2.2 billion asset management division where he developed its investment philosophy and process and was the lead portfolio manager. So is it a risky gaming investing, or one built on sure footing? And has a life of travel become the real wealth from creating his online business? Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only David Stein Show Highlights During the entrepreneur podcast show we had deep hitting conversations with David Stein around subjects such as: David shares how it took him a few years to find his place in the online world after leaving his home job, and the steps he took to get there. Why David feels that batching his work is not the fit that suits him, although I think it is amazing and should be done at all costs. And lastly…….. We discuss how any coach that is worth their weight in gold should be more focused on teaching more and more to their clients, in effect teaching themselves in the progress.

Today’s guest, joining us today on the Join Up Dots entrepreneur podcast interview is with on of the co founders of a content creation service called contentrefined.com Content Refined was born from a desire to simplify the process of content creation. As they say “With our clients, we want to have the personal touch and mutual respect of an in-house marketing team, but without the cost of in-house employees. To accomplish this, we pair each client up with a Project Manager. That PM works with the client on assessing their needs and competitive content strategy, then develops an individualized team of writers (native English speakers), editors, and publishers based on that strategy. We work through a systematized and data-driven process, combined with a dependency for very well-written and engaging articles, to produce quality content with every order. Our clients have widely diverse backgrounds and needs, from SaaS Businesses, to Portfolio Managers and Amazon Affiliates, to eCommerce Store Owners, and other unique sites, we produce content that is perfect for you and your specific needs. So was this a business that was easy to set up and get clients ready to buy their services? And now they have a team working hard on growing the business, does this make it easier or more difficult to allow the business to stay under their control? Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Madeline Taylor Show Highlights During the entrepreneur podcast show we had deep hitting conversations with Madeline Taylor around subjects such as: We discuss why negative comments are so hard to deal with when starting a business but actually should be the ones we aim to learn from most. Madeline shares the rubbish jobs that she has performed in the past, but actually turn out to teach you so much about business moving forward. And lastly…….. Getting customers is hard at the beginning so its great idea to tap into a ready made audience to test things out as quickly as possible.

Today’s guest, joining us today on the Join Up Dots entrepreneur podcast interview is a man who has dived deep into the world of sharks. He is the owner of The Sharks & Stripes Conference & Expo which is for military entrepreneurs, veteran owned businesses and private sector entrepreneurs/small business owners. This is a conference that features the powerful entrepreneur panel presentation featuring some of the most successful Shark Tank entrepreneurs and focuses on helping those in our Armed Forces who have the entrepreneurial spirit.  He aims to help those leaving the military transition into a new world of entrepreneurial ventures. However behind the scenes our guest has been battling a very different kind of challenge. Back in 2005 our guest was very ill indeed, after being diagnosed with a disease which there is NO CURE!  As he says "I have a great story of how I did this on the brink of bankruptcy and through immense pain and sickness from the powerful drugs and therapy I was enduring when diagnosed. But thanks to the hustle I have self published my "Conversations With Shark Tank Winners multimedia book," partnered with some of the biggest organizations for entrepreneurs and small business owners, toured the US with these organizations, have partnered with some of the most successful shark tank entrepreneurs, all the while diagnosed with a major illness." So what was his life like before this rude awakening...floating through like most of us or as focused and determined as he is now? Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Rey Ybarra Show Highlights During the entrepreneur podcast show we had deep hitting conversations with Rey Ybarra around subjects such as: We discuss why it is such a powerful method to tap into a business that already has an audience interested in that subject. You can shave years of your progress. Why Americans love to show the success and in fact celebrate success in a far greater degree than the Europeans.  Rey talks about the dark times in his life, when his illness took hold of him and why this is so similar to the entrepreneurial journey. And lastly Rey shares why it is so important to delay gratification to truly be able to understand and accept the reward for what it is.

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is with a man who is joining a merry bunch of former guests who have appeared on the show twice, back on episode 271 He is Inc. columnist, Professor of leadership, entrepreneurship, and hustling, and Entrepreneur, MBA, Astrophysics PhD, studied with Nobel Laureates and also swam across the Hudson river and almost drowned in the process. Yep, you thought he was really clever up to that point didn’t you! As he told us last time on the show “I do what I love in life and do my best to cut out what I don’t. Loving what you do means you will do more than if you don’t, so I’ve accomplished a few things to high levels while enjoying the process. I’ve also made my life easy and fun. I think anyone can. In fact I think making life easy and fun is easy and fun, so love what you do while accomplishing more than you thought you could too.” And it certainly seems that he is a man of his word. And now he is bringing his experience to the world in written form after converting a course that he has taught for years with the soon to be released book Leadership Step by Step This is a book that offers that rare breed of learning—genuine, authentic, effective, engaging, and, most of all, fun. It is based on the best leadership philosophy and practice. As it says on the book “The results of doing its exercises insure that you will become an authentic, great leader, able to serve and to live to the best of your ability. Anyone who aspires to lead, to lead more effectively, or to live life to its fullest would benefit from Joshua’s exercises. This is true for business, public service, the social sector, the arts, education, and any sphere where leaders serve.” So how has he managed to bring the word “fun” to the forefront of his business, when so many people think that this is for the weekend, or for kids? And is he a trailblazer for this, or is there more and more leadership experts looking at the “F” word as something that is how we should all be operating? Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show once more to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Joshua Spodek

On today’s episode of Join Up Dots as normal for a Friday show, David Ralph answers a couple of questions from listeners across the world, and even brings back the words greatest competition – The Gargle Game. Lets start however with a rating and review on Itunes which then lead me to connect with the chap to say thank you, and gain some advice of my own. This is from an English guy called Steven Harper, who is a musician, teacher and opera singer in the UK. “Thanks David for all the work that you have put into the podcast. I really appreciate it, it has been a kick up the bum that was needed to get me out of a complacent slump. My job is teaching singing and piano and i never considered that my students would be taking my work one day and for less money. Now I am trying to become Steven Harper music teacher and and not just an anonymous teacher. I have listened to all 1000 plus podcast and looking forward to the next 100.” Now what Steven is doing there is talking 100% about gaining a personal brand. He is building celebrity into his work, so people see him as more than the normal and subsequently will seek him out to gain tuition and be accepting of higher prices. This takes a focused approach in regards to putting more of himself out into the world, through visuals, youtube channels, podcasts and live videos of his students transformations. People don’t want to play the piano, they actually want to see people who are playing sexy tunes and becoming like them. That is the real transformation that makes a business fly, as the world wants the outcomes as quickly as possible. Now the second question came from a listener in Belgium, by the name of Henry Madsen, who asked “David, I have heard you say on previous shows that 95% of businesses fail within the first five years. What do you think is the reason for this? And any suggestions as to what you would advise myself in trying to start my own business…..kind regards Henry Madsen” The answer to this is quite simple as you will hear on today’s show. A business fails due to not selling another of their products, and this comes down to two main reasons. Either they aren’t getting the traffic, or even worse they build a product that nobody wants it. Enjoy and I hope to hear from everyone who loves this episode and has ideas of starting their own business.

Today’s guest, joining us today on the Join Up Dots entrepreneur podcast interview is a man who last appeared on the show back in 2017  when he connected with us after being a listener for awhile. Back then he was trying to find his way to becoming the master of his own future, creating his own business, and finding clients. He wanted his own business more than anything and had several ideas as to businesses he potentially had the skills for. Well since that conversation he has started his business Cassus Media back in August 2017, and officially left his last employer in January 2018 to strike out on his own as an entrepreneur. Cassus Media is a digital marketing solutions agency, originally launched with the idea of creating marketing videos which has now expanded into full-service organic social media and pay per click management services for small to mid-size businesses. He has worked with clients from around the United States and even the world in just the short time he's been in business, most notably from Norway, Sicily, and Ethiopia. Now the entrepreneurial journey is not easy for sure, and he has gone through some very difficult challenges with his career, not least being discharged from the military abruptly after making some mistakes caused by traumatic events in his teenage years, of which he's now overcome and is thriving, and becoming recently single. He also has ploughed into the life of not knowing if his efforts will come to anything, but being excited by where he is heading, in his words "The sky is the limit in the coming years" So what was the hardest part of taking the leap and becoming his own boss? And is the true battle one with the outside world of actually within his own head? Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Paul Cassarly Show Highlights During the entrepreneur podcast show we had deep hitting conversations with Paul Cassarly around subjects such as: Paul shares how he created his first business without clearly defining the needs of his customer and how to service them. We discuss why it is a bad thing to put all your eggs into one basket, and the reasons why you have to diversify your offerings. Why the coaching business is such an amazing way to create a quick business, due to the personal interaction that you can get. And lastly........ Why niche, niche, niche until you become the category of one is the easiest way for business success.

Today’s guest, joining us on the Join Up Dots entrepreneur podcast interview is a man who has been ready to join up his dots for quite awhile. Overcoming huge odds earlier in his life, he now loves to share that story to inspire others to do the same. He likes nothing more than connecting with entrepreneurs to motivate them to “do big things” in the world. Inspiring them by his own story as much as the actions that he takes everyday. His story begins in an average family where he had to work for everything he had. He started “at the bottom” and worked his way into the American Dream. In fact, dropping out of high school, until he went back to get his degree and even went to college... ending up on a popular reality TV show. As a guy who started his working life stocking shelves on the overnight shift at a giant retailer, he has seen the spectrum. Now he grows and scales companies, using real-world experience to make this happen. His most recent company is on track to do $25 million in gross revenues. He is a serial entrepreneur who develops systems to help other entrepreneurs run multiple companies without having to be there. In 2012 Mike appeared on the ABC television show Extreme Weight Loss, losing 255 pounds. He has overcome a stutter. He has gone from the bottom of the corporate ladder to the top of the mountain... and he loves helping others do the same. So why did he appear to lack consistency and desire when younger, but now has it in spades? And what is it about his life that he loves the most now he is rocking and rolling? Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Michael Giannulis Show Highlights During the entrepreneur podcast show we had deep hitting conversations with Michael Giannulis around subjects such as: Michael shares how at the age of five he was already five stone thanks to the eager feedings habits of his grandmother. We discuss how to create content that continues to pay you back forever. Evergreen is the key to a lovely relaxed life if you do it right. Dark sides exist in every business no matter what it is, but how do you get through them and into the light? And lastly Michael reveals why money is not important to him, and what he truly feels is the gold to be gained.

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a lady from Melbourne Australia who has one belief in life. That all of us are capable of being a bigger, brighter version of ourselves than we give ourselves the opportunity to be. Her official bio states that she is "is a best-selling author, workplace well being teacher and playful change activator" which is of course true but is not something that occurs by magic. Back in 1994, she was working for PR Works as a general manager where she built a profitable IT portfolio, as well as creating a media training service for CEOS. Which I find fascinating, as someone who is now firmly entrenched in the people development world, this wasn't an area of her life that just burst into being after several decades. It was there right at the beginning, which grew larger in her next job as a PR Manager for Sausage Software. But it seems to me that things moved up a gear when performing the position at Pricewaterhouse Coopers, as their international leadership coach, where she worked across the world to implement the companies brand strategy using Positive Psychology theories across their culture. And then there comes the time where our guest could have continued to rise up the ranks in corporate land, gaining the salary and working tirelessly to build someone else dream. But our guest had other ideas, and left to create her own company and her own dream, after completing her Masters in Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) at the University of Pennsylvania And with a career history scattered with roles lasting a couple of years or so, it appears that she has truly found her thing, as she has stayed where she is ever since. Developing her company, bringing in bigger clients and well......loving it. As she says "I'm passionate about bringing out the best in people, particularly at work. Fusing Neuroscience and Positive Psychology into tested, practical actions, I create happier, more rewarding and more profitable workplaces for employees, their bosses and their organisations." And who wouldn't love to do something that you are passionate about everyday. That is the dream after all. So when did she get the inkling that building her business was awaiting for her? And was it scary time or "Hell yeah, lets get going?" And is there a similar theme that stops most companies, and the employees of those companies operate at the highest level? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Michelle McQuaid.

In today’s episode of Join Up Dots we look at what makes a successful business and why so many people nowadays truly go the hard way to success. But first of all lets start with answering a few questions from listeners across the world who have been following the show. The first one, is less of a question and more of a statement, but it comes from a guy in Perth Australia, who I have had the pleasure to connect with a chat to over the last few months. His name is Craig and he is an English guy living and working in Australia, who mention that he often lacks focus and will allow days to drift into weeks without achieving what he truly wants. He said “David, I need some of that focus you have! I love how you are able to visualise and attack! Has it always been a skill of yours or is it learned? Of course to hear the answer you will need to listen to the show….we cant have people just reading a podcast and not giving us our ears after all. The second question that comes from a lady also in Australia called Ebony Richards from Hobart Australia, is in regards to creating success and the mistakes that I have made in the past. She says “David Ralph, podcasting legend. Why did it take so long for you to come into my life. I am well and truly hooked and listen to multiple episodes a day. But for all of us, listening and hoping for the day that we can become our own boss. What have been the biggest mistakes (if any) you have made through your business? If you say that you have never made a mistake then I will quit my job today…..not! Thanks for a great show and look forward to being a guest on Join Up Dots one day. Ebony Richard, Hobart Australia. Lastly…. we have a question from Canada, which is nameless, but asks “I am thinking of starting my own podcast and I am a bit daunted by what to do first. Should I buy the equipment or start building the website and social media following?” Now we have got those out of the way, it’s time for us to look at what makes a successful business. I will butet point them into three main categories and you will see that they are not anything clever in any shape or form. Number One: Look for a need that is already out there already. What I mean by this, is dont try to be clever and create something unique. This is prone to failure, even though the upside if its a success is massive. I would much rather see something already working and then create something similar with a different spin on it. Number Two: Now that we have a need, we need to seriously think about who our customer is and where they are hanging out. You dont want to ne spending a ton of money on throwing mud at the wall and hoping that it sticks. Number Three: Own your own traffic. You really need to be able to communicate with your audience, whether that is through Facebook, Email marketing, or any form of collection. Without that your business is dead in the water.

Instead, he has taken those negative prejudices and turned them into positives by surrounding himself with a diverse and multicultural team. As he says "My philosophy for good business is 90% perspiration and 10% inspiration; my sole focus is to drive the businesses forward without losing sight of the goal. Park homes were my upbringing so it was a natural progression to purchase a mobile home park; from 1 park to more than 40, Wyldecrest Parks has now become the No.1 Park Home Operator in the UK for the retired and semi-retired wishing to enjoy the quiet life and community spirit.  And when it  comes to seeing the potential in an idea, Alfie Best has a very up and positive outlook for sure.  "In my view" he says "there is no such thing as a bad idea, just the ability to drive it forward with a realistic approach." So if there is no such thing as a bad idea, why do so many people fail when it comes to starting a business?
